I am the person the other kids tried to cheat off of in school; the one who was likely carrying a tall stack of books with one hand, while pushing her slipping glasses back into place with the other. I never truly left school, choosing instead to become a teacher and tutor. It keeps me in a position where I am continually learning and growing.
My first stage of research in this process was regarding whether or not bariatric surgery was the best option for me. Not content to blindly follow my doctor's recommendation on this matter, I stubbornly read 20-30 peer-reviewed medical journals on the topic until it sunk in: bariatric surgery is the only method proven to help people my size to lose the weight and keep it off. So here I am, going through the nutrition counseling, the surgery information classes, and the preliminary testing to get insurance approval.
