  1. Let me say first that I feel that I am in between on these boards. I don't really feel like I am in post op period. I am almost 10 months post op but hit goal at 6 months. Since my goal I have been steadily losing and I am at the low end of a normal BMI. I am 5'9 and 130 pounds. Today, the first day since way before my surgery I feel like I failed. My life over the past year(since I started practicing my new behaviors way before surgery) has been steady losing and very regimented. I weigh everyday because I feel if I don't, I will find every reason in the book not to get on the scale a week from now and things will slip away from me. Today we had two cookouts for Father's Day at two different parents house. I did fairly good at the first house eating a grilled hamburger no bun, then I had a small piece of Banana cake. Not a huge one like I would have eaten before my surgery (and then took a piece home for later) I just had the small piece and left the rest there. At the second house I had ribs, three really small ones a few bites of corn on the cob and brought a piece of cheesecake home which I have promptly told my husband to eat it. Tomorrow is a new day and I promise myself to eat right. I hate this. Maintenance for me is way more stressful than losing. I also didn't get all my water in the last two days either. The last few weeks it seems like I am hungry a lot. And it's not head hunger, I don't really get that. Just had to vent. I feel so scared I am going to gain weight and then just feel like a failure.
  2. I wear a zero to 2 depending on the designer. I have never been this size in my life. I am 5'9 and 130 pounds. I love all my new clothes.

    Extreme Low BP After Surgery

My BP is running low also. I frequently get dizzy. And have to sit back down after standing up. I have passed out a couple times. Dr said to increase salt intake. Helped a little but makes me retain water so I try to balance it as much as possible.

    Att: Peanut Butter Lovers

I like the walden farms pancake syrup. I put fresh blueberries in a cup with the syrup and heat it in the microwave and out it in protein pancakes (p28). Yummy!
  5. Same here. I am a size 0. 18 months post op size small. When I order clothes I have to force myself to buy the correct size. My head tells me the whole time, "that won't fit you"!!!! However it does. When I hold up a small in the store I think that is not your size. I don't know if it will ever go away. When I look in the mirror I don't see skinny, but everyone else does. Weird!!! I love my new size my only problem is I am 5'9 and have problems finding jeans size 0 with a long length. Oh well rather have that problem than finding clothes size 26. Lost 160 pounds. Going on a cruise the end of this month and bought 5 new bathing suits. Wouldn't have been caught dead in a bathing suit 18 months ago.

    I need help!

Well it passed. I think it was the home made taco seasoning I made. I wanted to eat more clean so I didn't use the packaged stuff. After more investigation I think it may have been reflux. Either way it was horrible! It did pass within an hour or two.

    I need help!

You old think I use know better I am 18 months post op and have never let myself eat so much, I have always measured my food and knew when to stop. Tonight I ate my normal supper all was good then I ate a pice of birthday cake. I am soooo sick right now, feel like I should Luke but cannot. My gut hurts so bad. I don't know what to do to get rid of this feeling. All I can do is moan. Any suggestions? I tried walking. I have been at maintenance for 8 months and I have had this kind of cake in the past and it didn't bother me.

    Dizziness upon standing

Yep happens to me quite frequently. I have to stop and hold on to something until it passes.
  12. Huge HIPPA VIOLATION! I would be really really mad! Wow. OP's issue is definitely not ok, but this is in another league entirely. OH HECK NO!

Can you have too much protein?

I used gene pro after my surgery because I couldn't get enough protein in. I know there are skeptics out there. But I didn't lose my hair. It didn't even shed. I am 15 months post op with NO thinning hair, it's longer now than it's ever been. I now get all my protein from food and have since about 8 months post op. So do what is best for you! Gene pro doesn't have a taste and you can add it to hot or cold liquids also. I read that people lose their hair and I know it's a side effect of the surgery. I did take 30000 mg of biotin and I still do that today because I did t want to take any chances and even if I took more than I needed my doctor said too much wouldn't hurt me. So there you go we all have different experiences with this surgery. Good luck to you!

The fear of regain is REAL!

I too have a huge fear of re gaining. I am very strict (some say I am too skinny). I am 5'9 and weigh 125. I do did into the "up underweight BMI category. But I didn't feel that skinny. I have a five pound bounce range that I allow myself. I have a friend that had the surgery a month ago and eats Cheetos and little Debbie chocolate wafers. It is scary. I have been maintaining for 6 months. Went from 289 to 125 in about 8 months. I know I can do it. I just wish I was a skinny person that could eat what I want and not gain like some people were born to do.

    Where's the "support"?

Amen - when I see something that hits me as "stupid" or " you gotta be kidding me" - I back out of the post and move on to something more interesting without feeling the need to belittle anyone. I have been away from the forum for quite some time. I found that many people become "weight loss experts and surgery experts" because they have had this surgery. Bottom line is we were all in the same boat. Overweight. Nobody is an expert on this surgery in these forums. All we should be able to share is what our experiences are or were because each person has their own journey both physically and mentally. There are so many different ways we all gained the weight and although we have one thing in common the gastric sleeve we will all have different ways what works for us to lose the weight. I am 14 months post op been maintaining since February. I do what works for me and it might not necessarily work for someone else, I don't like the tough love thing. It's not for me that's why I left the forum in the first place. I thought I would give it another try we will see how it works for me this time.

    Dizziness one year out

I am 14 months post op. Passed out a couple times. Still get dizzy. BP runs low now, blood sugar is sometimes low. Dr. Can't really answer a specific reason why I get so dizzy. It's frusterating.

    Time to stop losing?

It takes time to learn to maintain.
  19. I eat anywhere between 900-1000. I am 13 months post op. I have to say I am hungrier now. If not for the lessons I learned through this journey I could see how someone could regain their weight. When they say your surgery "expires" at one year. I kinda believe it. I have stuck to my plan to the letter. I met goal at 6 months so I have been maintaining for 7 months. It's a struggle every day to eat the right foods. But I do it because I don't want to end up in the same boat I was in before this surgery.

    Re: Snacks

On occasion I eat movie theatre popcorn. I had it about 6 months after surgery. That is one thing I knew I could not give up. I probably have popcorn at home twice a week. I just adjust my diet that day to accommodate the calories.
  21. Well that is an issue for some of us. Mine is in my head. I have been losing weight for so long my head is telling me to not stop losing, it gives me a thrill to see the weight come off. However, I am 5'9 and 126. I will bounce between 124 and 128. It is a struggle all on its own.

What's the scoop on chewing gum?

I chew gum but I am a year post op. No issues. I followed the rules during the first year and didn't chew it.
  23. Went to to my doctor because I got something in my eye. I work in a doctors office and I wear scrubs and they hide the fact that I am thin. But she always gives me a hug and she said you are too thin. I have never in my life heard that before. I do not feel too thin. I am 5'9 and 125-126. I have held this weight for a couple months now. I do not want to weigh more than this. My clothes fit me good and honestly don't see myself as being too thin. I see myself as more average. I admit I was "hooked" on losing weight and I got a rush watching the number in the scale drop. This has been quite a journey. I am learning to up my calories if I lose too much (although I will also admit that it bothers me to add calories to my diet). I googled the signs of Anorexia, and although I do have a few of the symptoms I truly don't feel "sick"
  24. am just over a year post op and I feel the exact same way. I rarely go without a suppository.
