No respect from family.
doclecomte replied to laceyrasely92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had this same issue. It is a macho pride thing for me. This is the first time I have asked for help. I look at this as an addiction and that this was my salvation....a new start. I am embracing it now. Telling people when they ask. You will always have hateful people in your life and honestly....screw them. It is your life, your choice and it definitely wasn't the easy one. I tell people all the time that if they think this was easy, stick to my diet for the last 28 day while i pump CO2 up your ass until you feel like your gonna pop. Most understand after that explanation. Shrug it off and embrace the choice you made to change. -
it is finished... Had my surgery! What an ordeal
doclecomte replied to SouthernBelle69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 3/10 and I have a very high pain tolerance. I did not have much pain, but the gas/CO2 was driving me nuts. Walk. walk walk.....That will help. Also if your shoulder hurts that is normal (referred pain from the stomach). I also stayed 3 nights in the hospital....I had excessive stomach swelling and was having clearance issues. The doc said I might have lost 1 oz of blood during the entire surgery and that he had never seen anything like that. I'm thinking my body heals a little too well which caused my issue. Everyday I learn something new and everyday gets a little better. -
Ate too soon..

10 days out and your stomach and staple line are still very vulnerable to being irritated. I would think shrimp would be dense. If your doc ok'd fish, I'd stick to something that breaks down very easily (i.e.- Tilapia). I am 2.5 weeks post-op and still have issues with pureed food, so I would just take it slow. -
Hello All, This is my first post in this forum, I am post-op VSG from 3/10/15 and feeling pretty decent. Yesterday (3/24) marked my transition to puree foods. I don't know if I ate too quickly or drank too close to eating, but I had the weirdest feeling after words. I took a gas-x as I know it is an anti-foaming agent, but that didn't help. I remembered my days at GNC and selling papain (in the form of chewable papaya enzyme tablets). Within 30 minutes of eating two of those little suckers I felt 85 % better. I'm pretty sure I ate too quickly and the "foamies" were caused from my new stomach sending those bubbles up through my esophageal sphincter. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried something similar and it worked or post it up for a poor soul that may be going through the same thing I was. -Cheers

March 2015 Sleevers
doclecomte replied to giggleblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 3/10 and had to stay an extra night at the hospital because my stomach was swollen and i couldn't pass the barium cocktail to check for a leak. It has been 15+ days and I can't even fathom eating anything. Anytime I try pureed food it seems to just sit in my stomach. Has this been normal for some? I am trying to maintain my protein levels, but I'd guess I'm probably around 40-50 grams a day and maybe 40 oz of fluid (not including shakes). Has this been normal for other folks out there? I read on here how some are moving to purees after ten days and it just blows my mind. -
I am 16 days post-op from VSG and it has recently dawned on me.....I have no idea what I look like. My bone structure has always had extra fluff on it. I have never been slim, and early on in life I realized that husky wasn't just a breed of dog. I don't posses chia-pet like facial hair, so I'm hoping the structure isn't too terrible. Below is a brief synopsis of who I am. P.S- dealing with some major bloating. I think my doc made my sleeve really tight (had to stay an extra night because I couldn't get the barium cocktail to pass through my esophageal sphincter. My surgeon follows a (2 weeks full liquid, 2 weeks puree, 2 weeks mechanical soft and then regular). Puree is proving tough for me, so I may give full liquids another week. Any recommendations? I am a 28 year old athletic fat-kid from Ohio......living in Alabama. I moved away from home after graduating from pharmacy school in 2011, because I felt my friends and family were enabling me and that was the main reason I gained weight. Well after being on my own for a while I did lose weight, but once I made friends in this area the weight came back. They weren't enabling anything. This problem laid square on my broad shoulders. I am a social guy and food has always been a medium for me during those times. I realized that this might be the one thing in my life I need to ask for help on. It definitely isn't the easy way out as some people look at it. I have always been able to hide behind my athletic build (even though I was a big guy). I always kept pace with my smaller friends and never really had it hamper my life. As I get older, I feel pains and creaks in my bones and I can only imagine what that will be like in 30 years (if I made it that long). Luckily other than some mild hypertension, I dont have any other co-morbidities that are related to morbid obesity.....and I want to keep it that way. For most of my twenties I have hovered around 315-335. Yo-yo dieting and killing myself in the gym. I have always been a gym rat, so that has helped me have a bad diet and "maintain" my 300 lb plus physique. As I am typing this I am 16 days post-op and bloated as hell still (vertical sleeve). I am trying my best to adjust to the new life and hope that this forum will help with questions and eventually I can help other people as I continue.
