  1. Post-op day 7, 5lbs. lost. The gas pains have subsided, and while I'm still swollen - I am certainly not as bloated as I was even 2 days ago. I have started drinking Protein Shakes, though I only manage to get down one per day, and I have increased my fluids to around 50oz per day. I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and it felt good to be up and about. I'm looking forward to soft foods, for some reason I'm craving eggs and grits (which I haven't had in years!)

  2. Tomorrow is the big day, what I've waited 3 years for....why am I so emotional and nervous??

Packing my suitcase and it hits me....it's real....the first part of this journey is over....the hard work starts tomorrow...and I realize I am ready....

Good luck April Sleevers....our journey is just beginning...long, healthy lives ahead!!

    Good luck! You'll do great!

  3. Hope today went well @@CrissyBat

@@BrandNewMe I'm sorry you have not had a Bm in three days! Mine have def slowed down too ! They're allowing you to work out so soon???

Also guys I'm a little bummed today! I have hit a stall!!!!!!!!!!! I have been the same weight since I dropped all the fluids from being released from the hospital and I am pissed! I have been following all instructions! I mean you guys can look I always tell you what I eat ! So I am not a happy camper right now and I'm going to take some milk of magnesia and go to bed! Hopefully I will weigh less in the morning!!!

Btw I had a few sips of a iced Decaf coffee with skim milk and one slenda

Half of a strawberry premier Protein shake

1/4 of Tomato Soup from Panera that I am still working on

    Very little water!

    What is the problem here!

    Good Morning All,

Well yesterday I went back to work and wasn't so bad. Everyone mentioned how I looked like I had lost weight, but I played it off since no one knows what I have done. Eventually I'll say something. I was able to manage to eat a whole yogurt and a 20 oz bottle of Water with a Crystal Light add in. This wasn't done at the same time but throughout the day. So that was an accomplishment for me. So I made it through the day. The most taxing part of the day was having to go to the grocery store and shop for company coming over. The rush through the store made me a little flush. I came home and cooked for the first time. It was such a weird experience. I cooked a meal without even knowing how it tasted along the way or even the finished product. So I just kept quizzing my husband on how it tasted. I told him I felt a Blind person trying to write on a piece of paper. You know you've done something, but you don't what the final product came out as. Crazy.

Well as for the BM, that hasn't taken place. 7 days. I took the suggested dosage of Miralax on Monday and still nothing. If it isn't happening because of my Water intake then my goose is cooked, because I'm drinking as much has I can handle. I don't feel any discomfort, but I know I need to go. Ooh my, the struggle is real.

Thanks x0CheekzVSG, for checking on my day. How is today going for you?

@@CrissyBat have you done any exercise yet (walking)? I finally did and tell you what - it certainly got my bowels moving. I'm not getting all my liquids in either - I don't know why I thought that would be the least of my problems. Everytime I drink though, even a little, my stomach starts rumbling. I find that I tolerate crystal light and Vitamin water better than regular water. My goal for today: 32 oz h20, & 1 Protein Shake. Baby steps!

  4. @@x0CheekzVSG are you retaining water/ fluids? My doc wanted me to get moving as soon as possible to reduce swelling, gas, and bloating . I walked at a very slow pace of the treadmill. I'm just now starting Protein Shakes and creamy soups: I've been on Clear Liquids up to today so I'm sure they helped my weight loss. Keep your head up. It's still so early in the game... and stay off the scale for a few days ????

  5. Had my post op appt. today and the drain removed (yippee!). Doc says I'll be sore and bloated for a while due to the sizable hernia he had to fix during surgery but other than that everything is going as planned. I added Protein to my diet, and made some sugar free pudding today that will hopefully satisfy my sweet tooth. Going to get on the treadmill for 30 min this evening while my daughter is at practice to try to get things moving along (no bm for 3 days now). 5lbs. lost since the surgery!

  6. log in and post on the 22nd (day before my surgery) and tell me if you're doing better. I bet you will be feeling great, and dropping pounds like melted butter, and wishing you had done it sooner. So, I may need to hear that the day before my surgery. I'll be checking, of course, what else would I be doing the day before my surgery??

One thing I wish I would have done the day before surgery is drink more Water than I did. Never knew how much I would miss it until I couldn't have it, and the fact that I can now only sip a little at a time. Good luck. Only a couple of more weeks for you!

  7. Hey all sorry I hadn't checked in, I'm finally beginning to feel much better.

I had the SADI DS on the 1st. When I woke up I had an NG tube which was very uncomfortable. They removed the tube the next morning which helped. My next challenge was swallowing the contrast for the xray. It made me extra nauseated and was painful. I had a break down (pity party) in radiology but felt better in the afternoon when my surgeon came in was and said they were able to get enough and images that my doc felt confident enough to start me on the phase 1 diet.

I will likely be discharged later today, they are just keeping an eye on my nausea. So if not today it will be tomorrow.

The only thing that is annoying and painful is the drain so I'm looking forward to getting it out.

Right now I'm working on my Water. It is slow going but I'm getting a bit more in every hour.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Know that you are not alone and so many of us are feeling the same way. Feel free to share anytime. I'm hoping to get my drain out next Tuesday - it is quite annoying, like carrying around an extra appendage.

  8. Really sore and in a lot of pain. Can't seem to get my liquids down, including my pain meds! I pray this gets better and I don't end up regretting this decision.

I'm feeling the exact same way. Sleeved on the 1st. Home yesterday. Pain and nausea. I felt good in the hospital. Didn't sleep much last night because I felt so awful.
The gas pain, and the stomach pain is so severe - I can barely walk. I just wish I had a big suction that could suck all of the gas out! I am so miserable right now!

We got this Ang! We're gonna get through this!

I'm really trying to stay positive Brittany but I feel so terrible!

  9. My surgery went well. Found a pretty sizable hiatal hernia while he was in there so repaired it as well. Lots of gas pain when I first got out of surgery, but it has since subsided. I walked as soon as I was able, and I do believe it has helped relieve the gas. I am not hungry or thirsty, but will work on getting those fluids in so I can go home this evening and get a full night of sleep. Best wishes for a safe and quick recovery everyone!

  10. Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing? And to see what you have done so far

    -Are you excited?

-Have you packed your hospital bag yet?

-Is any family going w you? If so how are they feeling?

    -Have your nerves kicked in?

-Have you done all your shopping and cleaned your houses??

    -What time is your surgery??!

-Have you done any spa treatments?

Well I'll go first! So I am doing pretty okay this morning I'm hungry but I'll get through it. I am very excited, not nervous at all! I have not packed yet but will be doing that toning, because I know I probably won't be sleeping. I did do all of my shopping and finished the last bit yesterday. I'm going to clean my house from top to bottom today to keep myself busy! Also I have a facial and massage booked this morning just to relax myself (did my mani/pedi over the weekend). I do have family going w me but they are not really in support of this so I don't really know how they feel... I am the first surgery in the morning so I have to be at the hospital at 6:30a !

I hope everyone has a safe surgery and a quick recovery! Please feel free to keep us updated on this post so we can help each other these next few days!

    Talk to you all soon!

    Brittany

Good for you Brittany! I wish I had thought about a mani-pedi yesterday. I am excited and ready to move on to this next chapter in my life. I'm sorry your family is not supportive of your decision - but you will definitely get support from us here! <3 My fiance is taking me and has taken the rest of the week off to be by my side, and my family is worried, but understand why I have made this decision.

I packed yesterday and shopped a couple of weeks ago, so I am ready to go. Surgery isn't until noon tomorrow so it's going to be a long day!

Good luck Brittany! Prayers going out for a safe, successful surgery and a quick recovery.
