    Ladies! Pain Levels post-op

I had a different experience post-op than the previous posters. Perhaps it was because he repaired a large hiatal hernia he discovered while doing my VSG, but without the pain meds, my pain was very similar to my c-section pain. Be sure to take your doses of pain meds as prescribed at least the first 2 days after surgery or you will be in a world of hurt! My DF thought the dose was 2 tsp. Every 6 hours.. Well it was 2-4 TBSP every 6 hours. The pain was excruciating and brought me right back to post-op c-section.

    APRIL 6th

    Hope your surgery went well!
  4. @@CrissyBat,@@ShellMilliner how are you guys feeling today?
  5. @@CrissyBat so sorry you had a rough day today! Hopefully your body will cooperate tomorrow. Perhaps it's the cold that's bothering your pouch? Sometimes lukewarm hours down better for me. On the vitamin question, I have been able to get my vitamins in but the chewables I've been taking dissolve pretty easily and are quite tasty (like candy). Hang in there!

    African American vsgers!

Post-op day 7, 5lbs. lost. The gas pains have subsided, and while I'm still swollen - I am certainly not as bloated as I was even 2 days ago. I have started drinking protein shakes, though I only manage to get down one per day, and I have increased my fluids to around 50oz per day. I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and it felt good to be up and about. I'm looking forward to soft foods, for some reason I'm craving eggs and grits (which I haven't had in years!)

    Any April Sleevers?

    Good luck! You'll do great!
  8. Good Morning All,Well yesterday I went back to work and wasn't so bad. Everyone mentioned how I looked like I had lost weight, but I played it off since no one knows what I have done. Eventually I'll say something. I was able to manage to eat a whole yogurt and a 20 oz bottle of Water with a Crystal Light add in. This wasn't done at the same time but throughout the day. So that was an accomplishment for me. So I made it through the day. The most taxing part of the day was having to go to the grocery store and shop for company coming over. The rush through the store made me a little flush. I came home and cooked for the first time. It was such a weird experience. I cooked a meal without even knowing how it tasted along the way or even the finished product. So I just kept quizzing my husband on how it tasted. I told him I felt a Blind person trying to write on a piece of paper. You know you've done something, but you don't what the final product came out as. Crazy. Well as for the BM, that hasn't taken place. 7 days. I took the suggested dosage of Miralax on Monday and still nothing. If it isn't happening because of my water intake then my goose is cooked, because I'm drinking as much has I can handle. I don't feel any discomfort, but I know I need to go. Ooh my, the struggle is real. Thanks x0CheekzVSG, for checking on my day. How is today going for you? @@CrissyBat have you done any exercise yet (walking)? I finally did and tell you what - it certainly got my bowels moving. I'm not getting all my liquids in either - I don't know why I thought that would be the least of my problems. Everytime I drink though, even a little, my stomach starts rumbling. I find that I tolerate crystal light and Vitamin water better than regular water. My goal for today: 32 oz h20, & 1 Protein Shake. Baby steps!
  9. Scales are evil ???? lol
  10. @@x0CheekzVSG are you retaining water/ fluids? My doc wanted me to get moving as soon as possible to reduce swelling, gas, and bloating . I walked at a very slow pace of the treadmill. I'm just now starting protein shakes and creamy soups: I've been on clear liquids up to today so I'm sure they helped my weight loss. Keep your head up. It's still so early in the game... and stay off the scale for a few days ????
  11. Had my post op appt. today and the drain removed (yippee!). Doc says I'll be sore and bloated for a while due to the sizable hernia he had to fix during surgery but other than that everything is going as planned. I added protein to my diet, and made some sugar free pudding today that will hopefully satisfy my sweet tooth. Going to get on the treadmill for 30 min this evening while my daughter is at practice to try to get things moving along (no bm for 3 days now). 5lbs. lost since the surgery!
  12. One thing I wish I would have done the day before surgery is drink more water than I did. Never knew how much I would miss it until I couldn't have it, and the fact that I can now only sip a little at a time. Good luck. Only a couple of more weeks for you!
  13. I'm glad you are feeling better. Know that you are not alone and so many of us are feeling the same way. Feel free to share anytime. I'm hoping to get my drain out next Tuesday - it is quite annoying, like carrying around an extra appendage.
  14. I am so glad I have you guys and this forum. It's good to know I'm not in this alone and you guys truly understand. Thanks for the encouragement!
  15. I'm feeling the exact same way. Sleeved on the 1st. Home yesterday. Pain and nausea. I felt good in the hospital. Didn't sleep much last night because I felt so awful. The gas pain, and the stomach pain is so severe - I can barely walk. I just wish I had a big suction that could suck all of the gas out! I am so miserable right now! I'm really trying to stay positive Brittany but I feel so terrible!
  16. Really sore and in a lot of pain. Can't seem to get my liquids down, including my pain meds! I pray this gets better and I don't end up regretting this decision.
  17. Ok guys. Day 2 and I haven't got all my liquids in. Feeling full fast!
  18. SimplySharon for me, lots of rumblings in my abdomen and needing to burp alot. Sometimes gas does get trapped in your chest and it is extremely uncomfortable and can be very painful. I know it sounds gross, but pass gas often, burp frequently, and if allowed take GasX.
  19. My surgery went well. Found a pretty sizable hiatal hernia while he was in there so repaired it as well. Lots of gas pain when I first got out of surgery, but it has since subsided. I walked as soon as I was able, and I do believe it has helped relieve the gas. I am not hungry or thirsty, but will work on getting those fluids in so I can go home this evening and get a full night of sleep. Best wishes for a safe and quick recovery everyone!

    APRIL 6th

Relax and breathe! Everything will work out just fine. Remember the reasons why you have made this decision and how this will change your life forever- for the BETTER! Good luck!
  22. I am getting sleeved tomorrow and married in February 2016. I'm hoping to drop enough over the next several months to work up the nerve to go dress shopping! Putting it off as long as I can, so I don't have to have a lot of expensive alterations. Good luck! And congratulations!
  23. Good for you Brittany! I wish I had thought about a mani-pedi yesterday. I am excited and ready to move on to this next chapter in my life. I'm sorry your family is not supportive of your decision - but you will definitely get support from us here! <3 My fiance is taking me and has taken the rest of the week off to be by my side, and my family is worried, but understand why I have made this decision. I packed yesterday and shopped a couple of weeks ago, so I am ready to go. Surgery isn't until noon tomorrow so it's going to be a long day! Good luck Brittany! Prayers going out for a safe, successful surgery and a quick recovery. -Ang

Here's What 5 Months Can Do

you look amazing! How often do you exercise? And what exercises have you done to tone your abs? I'm so worried about my midsection and the potential for excess skin.
