African American vsgers!
brandnewme2015 replied to theshrinkingdutchess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haven't posted on this thread in a while but I wanted to congratulate all the new sleevers and tell the ones who are about to be sleeved good luck! This is one of the best decisions you could have ever made for yourselves. I was sleeved on April Fools Day this year and am 7 lbs. from goal: 59 lbs. lost since I started my journey this year. I am healthier (no more sleep apnea, GERD, high cholesterol), more energetic, and certainly happier. -

How to stop losing weight without gaining it back
brandnewme2015 replied to Rogofulm's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Thank God for this thread! I am 14 weeks out and have dropped the weight very quickly and am close to goal.To be honest..I think I need to reconsider my goal: I was a size 16 when I started this and am now a size 6. I think another 20 lbs. would make me look malnourished- though the charts say I should weigh between 117 and 125! My doc says I should plateau very soon- but I have never stalled and now I'm worried I can't stop losing. Seems like such a silly problem to have! I still can only eat a few bites of food, and I do focus on my Protein first. I've pretty much eliminated carbs, but after reading this thread I know I have to start gradually adding them back in for maintenance. I appreciate you veterans posting this because quite frankly, I was afraid to post my "problem" on any other forum here. -

Very Slow Weightloss! Starting BMI 33 - Data Included
brandnewme2015 replied to heep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My weight loss is also very slow. I'm averaging about 2 lbs /week BUT I've lost several inches. My goal is also 130, and I'm confident I'll get there eventually, as I've only got 25 more lbs. to lose and still very early out (so are you!). As long as you are still losing, and not gaining, I wouldn't worry too much about the amount you are losing every week. -
It will get better, but I find now, at 9 weeks out, when I burp my stomach is telling me "enough"!

Sorry I'm late. Thank you for all the work you put into this @stephh. I am at 156.4. Passed my goal and looking forward to the next challenge!

As you can see, everyone is different ^^^!

It wasn't terrible, but much more painful than the sleeve. As with any surgery you will feel the most pain and soreness after the first few days. I had to have help getting in and out of bed for about a week (I have a high bed & I am short). I was out on med leave for 3 weeks after my hysterectomy-and you will need every bit of that time to start to feel normal. Just don't pull, lift, and over - exert yourself and you will be fine. Good luck!

What do you say when you are invited to a dinner celebration, and you still have restrictions? I've been invited to a birthday celebration at a restaurant (I am hoping I can find something on the menu that will agree wth my sleeve) & I have been invited to a friend's who will cook dinner. I would never want anyone to limit their options because of me, but at the same time, I don't want to insult the host by "picking" at my food. How do you handle these situations? FYI I am only 7 weeks post Op.
