My Fitness Pal is now a habit, sometimes I enter the food before I eat it. It is a great way to keep track of the proteins I take in, that is my main goal for each day.

I am sorry to hear about the issues some of you have had since the surgery, they will get better. Today is day 13 from the big day and here is what has taken place of since, hopefully it will be helpful to some. I have been lucky it sounds, I have felt great, other than the expected discomfort for the surgery. I am able to get in my fluids and have had no nausea before or after, they gave me a patch to wear the night prior to surgery and a pill the morning of and it worked for me. Surgery was late on the Wed the 25th and I weighed in at 315 prior to surgery. I stayed the night and was kept comfortable with meds, given lots, I think 6-7 IV bags of fluids and I was able to get some liquid down by sipping, Crystal light orange was the best choice that helped me. Discharged early 6:00 am the next morning, about 15 hours after surgery. My weight was 324, lots of fluids. Got home Friday, day 1 and started to sip water with and without crystal light for the first day. KEEP up on your meds, don’t fall behind, it’s not fun. Saturday day 2 started some Isopure’s to get protein in got about 10oz in. Was able to work at sipping fluids all day and also got in about 4oz un-Unjury chicken soup also. Sunday day 3, more Isopure, water and added a strawberry-vanilla premier protein drink. Was able to finish all of them with about 8 oz Unjury chick soup. Learned small sips, to big and to soon made me uncomfortable. Day3 – day 8 NO MORE Meds, pain was ok without them. Same thing kept working on the Isopure, water with crystal light and I started making some protein shakes with my Nutri-Bullet. Coconut milk or premium protein drink, vanilla Greek yogurt, couple scoops of whey powder (Vanilla or strawberry). Sometimes added a 3” piece of a banana to the shakes. I also switched from Unjury to low sodium chicken broth, even some creamed soups (Butternut squash) with unflavored protein powder added in. Day 9 (last Friday) saw the doc and weighed in for the 1st time and happy to report 300.4, almost took off pants and shirt to get below the 300, but it is the last time I am EVER going to see it so it didn’t matter. Doc says, all is good, pureed food for the next week and then can start to mix in some whole food. So NICE. Can do some light walking but need to give another week and then meet with the fitness and nutritionist to form my plan. This Easter was Awesome !!!! I started my day as I do every day now, with a Power Nutri-bullett Protein shake (Spinach or Kale, yogurt, coco milk light, protein powder 2 scoops, and few blue or straw berries) lunch was some turkey chili I made and then. I cooked (BBQ & Smoked) for my family as I have done for many years, I LOVE to BBQ and have large gatherings at the house, I saw NO reason to change. I rotisserie cooked a whole turkey on the grill and smoked a ham on the Traeger, man did we have an Easter celebration. I was able to puree some Smoked Ham with a small amount of gravy and later tried the same thing with the turkey, OH MY, so good. The best part was I did I feel left out as I watched everyone enjoy WAY too much food, in fact I felt GREAT eating my ham with a baby spoon and not being able to finish the small portion I made. I have experienced some pain and discomfort from too big of swallows of liquid or not chewing a few small chunks of sampled turkey well enough, but nothing too bad. To be honest the week of liquid was tough, but worth it, and I would do again only SOONER. I hope everyone had a great Easter and is feeling a little better each day.

It is great to read that everyone is doing well, those who just sleeved, IT WILL GET BETTER. Today is day 8 from my surgery and I just got back from my Dr follow up, all is good. I feel good, my incisions look good and my progress is good. 14lbs down from my surgery date and 48 down in total :-) Very much like Jill stated about, things I like before the surgery are way to sweet now. Today is also the first day in my week Pureed food, so glad to be able to have something a little more the liquids. Pureed turkey chili was AWESOME !!!! Keeping the liquids and the proteins in are my goals for each day and not I will start some walking and experimenting with what solids taste good after being in a Nutri-Bullet.

Conrad's Marcy, relax and have a speedy recovery. Also stay away from Facebook while on the narcotics, I posted some strange things that I don't recall doing. I blamed it on my account being hacked, just avoid it.

I am now starting my 5th day since the surgery and no more meds. I haven't had any issues with Isopure, crystal light waters or watered down Protein shakes. I have to work at getting the volume in, drinking from small shot glass or plastic cups has helped me from taking to much at a time. Most of the painful gas from the surgery is gone and boy am I glad, that was uncomfortable. Sneezing from my allergies has been no fun, but it art of the deal. I am looking forward to puree food, interested in being able to add some different tastes to the food. Over all I am very happy with my progress, it is great to be able to see the successes of others also.

My name is Matt and I just got a gastrc sleeve done
JRfishes replied to matt56's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Matt, I had my sleeve done on the 25th, it is great to hear you are doing well, it sounds like you are experiencing similar gas pains that most of us have. Gas-X and walking has helped me, I still have some, but nothing like I had. Stay positive, hydrated and let all enjoy our new journey. -
Where did you have you surgeries?
JRfishes replied to searching's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine was last Wed the 25th with Dr Kaufman. It was better than expected, PSSC has an amazing program set up for their follow up care. The new Shoreline facility is very close to my work and is very nice. Still a little sore but recovering well. -
What's your complication plan?
JRfishes replied to Janex43's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I assume you have a support person, the Dr and nurse will give you discharge orders, things to look for and what to do if you experience any of them. not much else you need as far as a plan. I know it can be nerve racking waiting for the day, trust everyone, they have no reason to lie, it will be just fine. -
Post operation....what's everyone drinking?
JRfishes replied to raquel_c's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Isopure and then the premium protein. -
I forgot to mention, my surgery ended about 5pm on Wed, Thurs morning when I checked my weight right before going home I had gained 14lb, yep 14. 314 before surgery and 328 at check out. They said I had 6 bags of saline solution along with the waters I drank. They strongly urged me not to weight myself to often, once a week max. I go see Doc next Friday and I will weight in them.

Last night was my third night since the sleeve and it was a HUGE improvement from the previous night. I think I got rid of most of the gas last evening, Gas-X, purpping (can be a little painful) and some tooting (Ladies present). Still sore when I sit up, roll on my side, but was able to get good sleep other than waking up to take the pain meds. Take em on time before you get the pain and it will allow you to stay hydrated at least for me.

I will see what I can do to make it, it will be nice to put a person to the name. I also saw at the Shoreline PSSC they have a support group the 3rd Tues of every month fro 6-7. Suzy, keep the low carb diet going, Dr said it made my surgery so much easier for both of us.

Ask your Dr for the patch you put behind your ear, it takes away the nausea and allow you to get your Fluid down. I had my surgery Wed late afternoon, so I am two day out. I learned two important lessons yesterday Keep up on you pain meds and take lots of small sips, large ones become uncomfortable. It will get better.

Hello everyone, I had my surgery two days ago at PSSC with Dr Kaufman. I probably researched who and were to have the surgery with, the people, facilities and the aftercare program is what sold me to choose them. I spent one night and returned home yesterday morning, was a little nervous, but it was just fine. I am learning how much to sip to avoid being uncomfortable, the gas pains are still there a little, not getting behind on the meds is key for my comfort. I am just finding my way around this site and I am happy to see that it is full of positive and encouraging fellow Sleevers. I look forward to reading your posts, J.R.

I know the feeling, I kept thinking of all the good that is going to come my way with this decision and all of the BS I went thru before making the choice to do it. Now that I am 1.5 day past my surgery, I can honestly say, relax and keep the good thoughts in front of any of your fears. Good Luck, you got this.
