  1. I agree it's a fine line for me between satisfied/full and a ticked off sleeve that ends up with me vomiting. I feel gassy/burp if I'm to full and get an upset/queasy feeling. I'm 3 months out and can't eat a cup of anything. The most I can do is 6 oz of yogurt. I typically eat 2.5-3.5 oz of meat and I'm full.

    Help Please! Low Iron.

Take the iron with citrus ie orange or grapefruit juice. It helps with absorption. FYI it's very constipating so you may need a stool softener. Ideally it's best taken on an empty stomach, but it can cause GI upset. Don't take it with dairy or calcium as stated above. Depending on how low your levels were it may be 4-6weeks before they improve enough (it takes your body 3 months to produce red blood cells and iron is needed for manufacturing them). Hopefully you get them where you need to be soon!
  3. I've done cauliflower "fauxtato" salad, there are multiple recipes online and it's good.

Share your rants about the fashion industry!

I'm 5'10 and my issue is when I was plus size everything seems geared towards plus size "petite" people. Tall girls can be plus size too!! Why are there whole sections of stores dedicated to petite people and MAYBE one rack for the tall ones?? Seriously, ankle pants better not go out of style because at least I don't have to worry about the length!!

    Salmon?

I eat quite a bit of salmon. Make sure you don't overcook it though. I tolerate it much better than any form of chicken, but have to eat it slowly and stop as soon as I feel full or it will come back up.

    Prozac and Gastric sleeve

I've been on Prozac for years, and am still losing weight post sleeve. I'm 1 week shy of being 3 months postop and am down 50 lbs since surgery day.

    Lunch ideas?

So I'm almost 3 months out and for some reason and struggling with lunch. Tried ricotta bake--loved it until I ate it for lunch 2 weeks straight and still have no desire to eat it again. I've made chicken salad, taco salad (without chips/nachos!), had some lentils and I'm bored with all of these. Anyone have a go-to lunch? I usually do yogurt and berries for breakfast, some type of meat in the evening, plus a protein shake and a couple low fat cheese strings during the day as well. I just need some better take to work lunch ideas!

Do you eat your exercise calories?

Nope. I agree that the estimates seem more generous than what I actually think I burned. I am also still trying to lose, maybe in maintenance that will change.
  9. How much do you weigh now? Really?! That's not a conversation starter. I'm going to start replying "how much do you weigh?"

    Chewing Gum

Mine also said no gum, I guess it can get stuck if you accidentally swallow it. I'm not a huge gum chewer, but I do have an occasional piece...and make sure I don't swallow it!

    3 months out...

I do still drink 1 protein shake/day to get my required protein. 64 oz water is tough. I generally get 60...but for some reason that last 4 oz is the toughest and I end up having to drink some before bed!

    3 months out...

I'm about 2.5 months out now. I've lost 46 lbs since surgery, and 63.5 since the start of my 2 week pre-op diet. I done to a regular size 14-16 from a 20W. Feeling good, working out 5 days per week for the few weeks. GERD was a big issue, but seems to be settling down. Now my biggest issue is remembering to take my calcium 3x per day!
  14. The stats on on your side. Your risk of death is <1%. Yes, there is risk involved with any surgery, but it's mitigated by all the pre-op work-up/clearances you have and a highly controlled environment once you're in the OR.

    Question About My FitnessPal

You can adjust your calories to whatever numbers you want, but unfortunately it won't give you weight loss predictions unless you log at least 1000 calories/day. You can adjust your calorie goal in settings

    2 days to go.

Good luck to all of you! I was nervous when I had it done in June (1st surgery ever), but now feel like it was completely worth it.

    Coke addiction

I had a 3 liter diet Dr. pepper habit before my surgery in June. Once I got approved I quit cold turkey. It was rough for the first 5 days. I recommend you do it before starting your preop diet though, because the liquid diet is hard enough without caffeine withdrawal!

    NSV shout outs

I bought size 14 pants today! I haven't been below a 16 for over 15 years. Started at a 20-22W in June. I thought the size was wrong so I tried other 14s on and they fit too!

    Hunger cravings after sleeve?

I still get hungry occasionally. When it happens I am more likely to eat too fast/too much and end up with a stomachache or vomiting. I eat my 3 meals/day and 1-2 snacks. A cheese string goes a long way to curb any hunger for me!

Well, I made it! (after pics)

    Congratulations, you look great!!

    Surgery tomorrow what to pack

Good luck with your surgery! Definitely a firm pillow, comfy clothes, and pads. I wasn't expecting the gift of my period either the day after surgery!

    Halloween Challenge!

    I'm in. CW 214.1 GW 199.9!!
  23. I'm going to the gym and doing everything I can to tone then, but realistically I'm not ruling out an arm surgery in the future. I'm a little to scared of the recovery for a TT/paniculectomy, so I'm just going to have to live with my belly!!

I HATE exercising! What Should I do?!

I am not a fan of exercise either, but at 6 weeks postop I rejoined the gym. I do cardio hip hop 2x weekly. Also have a trainer twice weekly since I am intimidated by all the muscular/fit people in the weight area. She has done a lot to allay my feelings of self consciousness by basically telling me that no one is looking at me because they are too busy with their own routines. I climb the damn escalator climber thingy on days I don't do Zumba/hip hop. It's not my favorite activity, but to be honest I feel better/less sluggish when I exercise. Also hoping it helps with overall toning as I lose!
  25. I did start at the gym (5 days/week) and while I haven't truly stalled, I have noticed the loss slowing down a bit. I am hoping when it comes time to check measurements at the end of this month that I have lost inches rather than pounds. I never measured myself at the beginning, but figure it can't hurt to help keep me motivated when the scale won't budge!
