I took mine to the jewelry store and for $5 they put on a crossbar like device that helps size it down temporarily. When I'm done losing weight I will get it officially resized

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
rnsamantha replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can do it! I had my surgery 6/25/15 and weighed 259 on that day. As of today I'm sitting at 202 lbs. hoping to be under 200 lbs by Halloween. I'm into a size 14 now/size large on top. I am working out 5 days per week and find that has made a difference, because even though I've gotten down to 200 lbs before, I've never been this size. Love my sleeve!! -
I was allowed sugar free substitutes ie Crystal light etc during the preop phase and 1st 4 weeks postop, but after that my surgeon advised limiting artificial sweeteners to a maximum of one serving per day because they actually stimulate appetite which is counterproductive.

203.3 this morning. I'm so close to onederland I can taste it!!!
-
Oddly enough, I can eat a boiled egg, but scrambled/fried/omelette are all a no go for my sleeve! Eggs and I have a tenuous relationship so I never eat more than one just for that reason

Tools/Items for Portion Control
rnsamantha replied to Namaste6's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have a digital food scale that I use daily. In the beginning I bought a package of disposable condiment cups and ate out of them. Now I eat off a salad plate at home and have a bento lunch box with small containers to pack my lunch in. -
Breakfast: Greek yogurt with triple berry mixture (buy it frozen at Costco) over top. 145 calories Snack: reduced fat Colby jack cheese string Lunch: 1 oz almonds, 1 oz diced deli meat Snack: premier Protein shake Dinner: 2-3 oz meat of some type Snack: another cheese string. Still trying to work on getting my calories up, typically get around 800/day

The "In case I get fat again" part of my closet...
rnsamantha replied to AvaFern's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I saved a couple pairs of pants so I can see how far I've come! -
I hated the bariatric advantage multivitamin too. I use the procare bariatric chewable in citrus and find that it tastes okay, but now that I've gotten permission to swallow pills I'm just trying to use what I have left before I buy some regular caplets.

You know you lost weight when
rnsamantha replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I almost had a wardrobe malfunction at the gym yesterday after discovering the sports bra I had packed in my gym bag was too big but deciding to do the Tabata class that included burpees anyways. Lesson learned! -
I bake 1 tsp of shredded cheese on parchment paper at 350 for 10 minutes and let them cool off. Voila! Cheese "chips" to dip in hummus! Just don't go crazy with them because the fat content can be high. I usually eat 4-5 per serving.

I'm with you @@Babbs! Chocolate, cake of any variety and sweets can't be in my house. I'm okay with chips etc around me because I don't really crave them. I had a major diet soda addiction prior to surgery (3 liters/day) and gave it up cold turkey. Now I'm 3 months out and over the last couple of weeks have had a few. While I tolerate them just fine, I'm realizing that this could be the beginning of a slippery slope that leads me back to my old habits. I've made the conscious decision not to have anymore, not because I "can't" but because it is a trigger for me.

I workout at the gym 5 days/week and started at 6 weeks postop. I have plantar fasciitis too, so rather than the treadmill I do the stair escalator/climber, although my foot pain has improved greatly since losing 70lbs that I just downloaded the couch to 5k app to maybe try the treadmill again! I'm just over 3 months out. I do strength training 4 out of the five days .

For me it a number of things. My mom getting diagnosed with diabetes was one because my dad is already diabetic. I felt like my genetics and weight were making diabetes a very likely diagnosis in the future. Also, when I realized that I was dreading a family vacation to Legoland because I wasn't sure I would be able to tolerate walking around all day with the pain in my foot that had become a really big, daily issue. My highest was 278 lbs, and knowing that I was getting really close to 300 lbs was a big factor in doing something permanent as I hadn't been able to maintain weight loss in the past and just kept tacking on regain, plus extra pounds with each dieting attempt. I was at the point that I was afraid to even try to lose weight again for fear of failure and the inevitable regain + that left me heavier than before.

No three week stall... When?
rnsamantha replied to ttdish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had the three week stall either. I'm at 3 months now and seem to be hitting my first one. I'm 5'9.5, SW 259, CW 208.3 -
208.3 lbs for me this morning. Up 0.3 lbs, but I'm not going to let it get me down!

Packed up a huge number of clothes today that still fit!
rnsamantha replied to marypups's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I have a 3'x6' pile of clothes that don't (too big!) fit slowly taking over one side of my closet. I just need to buckle down and bag that stuff up. I'm so happy not to have to shop in the plus size section anymore, so I don't know why I still have a giant pile of those clothes still laying around! -
Bari Boot Camp
rnsamantha replied to chickenmommy25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to attend two classes, each was about 3 hours, and on separate days because they wanted to make sure you absorbed all the info. -
How Often Should You Weigh Yourself?
rnsamantha replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I weigh daily in the morning before eating/shower etc., but my "official" weigh in day is Thursday. This is the only weight I log for the week in my fitness pal. Previously when I avoided the scale like the plague it was easy to live in denial. I don't obsess about the scale, but it does keep me accountable. -
Awesome job! I'm at 208 presently and CAN'T wait to hit onederland! It's a big accomplishment and you should be proud!
-
Ugh, broccoli does it to me, plus anything I consume faster than a snails pace!
-
I'm 208 this morning. Down 4 lbs wahoo!!
-
I've never done a Fitbit challenge, but you can add me swindatt@cox.net

Pre op 6month supervised diet
rnsamantha replied to AmyWalker's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had 6 months too. It feels like forever, but in the end I got approved and am so happy I got the surgery!
