    Easter Weight Loss Challenge

I'm at 161.6 this morning. Weekends are hard!
  2. I actually work in urology (NP). I'm sure I will eventually develop a stone as the metabolic changes with bariatric surgery, high protein diet set us up for stones! Sound like your urologist is describing an ESWL (extra corporeal shockwave lithotripsy). Hope you feel better soon!!

    Down how many dress sizes

I was a size 20W June 2015 and am now a size 8 (sometimes a 10). I actually need to shift and stop losing as I am below my original goal weight! I'm still well within a normal BMI, but feel happy where I'm at!

164.6 this morning. Goal is 160 although I will be happy just to maintain <165 at this point!

    Easter Weight Loss Challenge

I'm in, although I'm not sure I need to lose any more weight. Current weight is 163.6. I guess I will make my goal 160 lbs.

    Biotin Dosage

I have been taking 5000 units per day since surgery. Lost quite a bit of hair between months 5-8. I've noticed in the last 1-2 weeks it seems to have dramatically slowed down. Happy dance! Not sure if the biotin helped with preventing the inevitable loss, but my (remaining) hair looks shiny/healthy!
  8. I eat an occasional sandwich thin, because my trainer insists I need some more carbs, but bread, pasta, rice etc sits like a rock in my stomach and makes me feel sick for about an hour after I eat it.
  9. All I can say is it gets better. The fatigue improves as you can get more calories and your body adjusts. Stalls are frustrating, but if you follow your protein/nutrition guidelines you will lose weight!
  10. I went back to work 10 days after my sleeve surgery (no revision). I work in an office setting and did fine at work. I will say that although I was back to work 9 hours each day, for the first 6-8 weeks after surgery I was extremely tired and in bed by about 7pm each night!

You know you lost weight when

When you put on your bathing suit bottoms from last year and they fall right off!

    Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge

165.2. Missed goal by 0.2 lbs, but am 10 lbs below my original weight loss goal so not too upset about it. Thanks for the challenge!!
  13. Sigh...still a size 11 women's here...
  14. I'm 8 months out, and at the beginning was thrilled with the idea of being a size 12-14. Now I'm generally a 10, sometimes an 8 on the bottom and a medium on top. I own one pair of size 6 jeans that prove vanity sizing truly does exist! I'm below my original goal of 175lbs (currently between 168-169 and 5'9.5"), and pretty happy where I'm at. While I'd like to lose about 5lbs more, I'm okay with maintaining this size too!

    Alcoholism & WLS

I actually was concerned I was developing alcoholic habits before surgery. I would drink 1-2 bottles of wine in an evening on weekends, and frequently have 2-3 glasses even on week nights. Post surgery I occasionally have a single 3-4 oz glass of wine (now I have to buy the little mini 4 packs!), but I'm pretty tipsy after that one glass. I might have a glass 1-2 x per month. I'm much less depressed than I used to be, and alcohol was a (very poor) coping mechanism. I don't like the feeling of being drunk, so for me, I think surgery improved my habits.

    Hair loss

8 months out and my bathroom sink is still full of hair! Truth be told, I kind of thought I was going to be lucky and not have any--but at 6 months out it hit! I had really thick hair to start, and now it's more like average thickness. I'm just taking my multivitamin, biotin daily, getting my protein and not stressing over it since everyone seems to experience some degree of hair loss after WLS.
  17. I've been very open about having mine, but after the fact. I told my immediate family and co-workers I was having it done beforehand and they were all supportive. When people ask how I've lost all the weight I tell them I had weight loss surgery (sleeve), but also make sure to mention I'm at the gym 5 days/week, plus a strict diet. I've had nothing but support in general, but can understand why others would want to keep it secret. I lost 100lbs in 6 months, and I think people would've had a hard time believing that I just did it with diet and exercise though.

    Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge

168.5. Didn't make my goal of 165, but I'm below my original goal weight of 175lbs so I'm not too upset!
  19. I'm 7 months out from my gastric sleeve and have exceeded my weight loss goal. I'm down to around 169-170 lbs from 278, a "normal" BMI and thrilled with my results. I get praised all the time about "how great I look", and how I just keep getting smaller (I'm still a size 10--but tiny compared to the size 20 I started at). Confession time: over the last 2 months my diet Dr Pepper habit has come back with a vengeance, and along with it has come "little bits" here and there of sugar and junk food. Instead of 80 oz of water per day, I've been drinking about 36 oz of soda...and 20 oz of water at the gym. Now those little tastes of junk food are becoming a daily occurrence. For a while I've been living in denial, thinking I could get away with this behavior because I haven't gained weight. The truth is, I'm lying to myself and setting myself up for failure. My story feels similar to a lot of others I've read on here, only at least I have the benefit that hopefully I've caught and can curb this behavior before the weight starts to slide back on. I'm terrified I will gain all the weight back. So this is me and my confession, on day 1 of sugar and diet soda detox again. I realize now more than ever that the sleeve is wonderful, but if I can't permanently change my habits, the sleeve isn't going to help me in the long term.
  20. I have a co-worker who had gastric bypass in 2009 and she drinks soda occasionally and told me it was fine. She has maintained her loss (she's actually a size 2), and I fell into the trap of thinking "if she can do it, why can't i"? Difference is she might have 1/2 can of Diet Coke every 2 weeks, whereas I slid right back into my old routine quickly. I just love the taste, and the carbonation. Today is day 2 clean and "sober" off the diet dr. Pepper! I wish I could say she tied me down and water boarded me, but I made my own choices!
  21. I assure you, it is possible, and not painful, but probably would be while healing after surgery. I don't recommend you try it though! I didn't have any for 4-5 months post-op and wish I'd never started. It's like tasting the forbidden fruit. Today is day 1 of me kicking the habit again!

    Am I normal?

At 4 months post op I was still living on cheese, yogurt, soup, and protein shakes. Even at 7 months post op now, eggs are still hit or miss for not coming back up. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that chicken and I are through. Occasionally I tolerate a very small amount of a chicken thigh (never breast meat), but generally slow cooker beef or fish are better tolerated for me. I also find chili tolerable, but cannot eat a hamburger (even without the bun).

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

I have some loose skin on my upper thighs, upper arms, breasts and lower belly. Overall it's not bad though. I've done a lot of weight training which has really helped my arms. I have these saggy pockets on my upper thighs that I'm self conscious about, but it just means that I'm not going to wear short shorts---and I'm ok with that at age 35. My boobs are deflated, wrinkly blobs that I will probably get fixed once I've maintained for 1 year.
