I'm at 153.8 this morning. Vacation to an all-inclusive resort next week might screw this trend up though [emoji15]

Did you eat on the 2week liquid diet?
rnsamantha replied to beylove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't cheat. The preop diet is tough and I think I drank my weight in water over those 2 weeks. I was allowed 3 protein shakes/day, unlimited broth, SF jello and Popsicles. My BMI was 40 and I lost 17lbs in that 2 weeks! -
I'm at 154.9 lbs today.

Ideas to keep wedding ring on
rnsamantha replied to csawesome's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine resized after I lost 100 lbs because when I asked my husband how he would feel if I stopped wearing it for awhile since it was too big he seemed to prefer that I keep wearing it. Now I've lost 20 more pounds and may need to get it resized again since it keeps spinning on my finger. At least it's not falling off though! -
I had a Fitbit charge HR which I really liked, but am trying the Fitbit blaze now since it looks more like a watch and you can change out the band

157.2 for me this morning. I'm blaming my period [emoji19]

Well I'm Canadian (Ontario) but I live in Arizona. Too much of a winter wimp to move back!!

I used procare bariatric vitamins, bariatric advantage tropical orange calcium citrate chews, dissolving b12 and biotin supplement I got at Costco. Word to the wise: pick up some Miralax or benefiber. Postop constipation sneaks up on you and it's easier to just start taking something from the get go rather than trying to get things going again!

Working out at the gym and not feeling like everyone was looking at me. Now I feel like I blend in because I'm not the lone fat person there. I realize this was all my perception/lack of self esteem that made me feel like everyone was staring when they really weren't, but I feel more confident going now and actually <gasp> like the gym!

BMI is close to minimum requirement
rnsamantha replied to GigiLane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just over 9 months postop (had surgery 6/25/15) and am down 120lbs total. Now a size 6-8 and so happy I did it! I work out 5 days/week and have turned into a gym rat. Now the trick is to maintain and not slide into old habits. -
My weight today is 156.2. Goal is to maintain at 160 or less!

chia seeds? are they safe for sleeves?
rnsamantha replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although I am not a fan of them the dietitian for my surgeon said chia seeds are fine once you're 3 months out. -
I work in urology. Adding lemons to water, drinking lemonade or crystal light helps increase the amount of citrate you excrete in your urine and is commonly recommended for people who have calcium oxylate stones (most common type). All these beverages contain citric acid and most people with calcium oxylate stones have low urinary citrate. Now if you have calcium phosphate stones, increasing your consumption of citric acid can actually increase your stone risk so it's important to know what type of stone you had. If your stone was calcium oxylate look up information online about high oxylate foods to avoid (tea, ice tea, beets, rhubarb, strawberries, blackberries, the list goes on). The most important recommendation is drink LOTS of water (80 oz/day minimum). Low salt diet. High protein diets increase stone risk so as weight loss surgery patients we are at increased risk for them because of this [emoji20].

BMI is close to minimum requirement
rnsamantha replied to GigiLane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My BMI was 41. I lost 6 lbs during my 6 months supervised diet to bring my BMI to exactly 40.0. Most insurances go off your initial consult weight, not your final weight though. My insurance rep told me that as well but My surgeon said not to lose too much just in case. -
Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?
rnsamantha replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am just happy to shop in the regular size section! I frequent 50% off day at Goodwill now and can actually find nice stuff. Although I always scoffed at "lulu-lemmings" I must confess now that I fit in their stuff I own a fair amount. -
I'm nine months out and my surgeon recommends a minimum of 1200 calories on rest days and 1500 on the days I work out (5 days per week). I had gotten lax with tracking food and my protein/calorie intake was lower than I thought. Now I'm aiming for at least 75g protein daily.

I do the Wendy's chili occasionally too. Honestly if I'm on the road I find most gas stations have packaged nuts/cheese strings and prefer to grab these items instead until I get home. If a gas station has a decent protein shake I may get that instead of a fast food meal, but have learned to read the labels carefully as some of those protein shakes are worse that the fast food options!

Easter Weight Loss Challenge
rnsamantha replied to vsgSarah3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm at 160.4 this morning. I was really off track last week eating junk and carbs and my weight gain shows that. Getting back on track this morning! -
I'm in. My goal is to maintain at 160.

How much exercise do you do weekly?
rnsamantha replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never thought I would become a gym addict, but I have! I work out 5 days/week and do 30 mins weights/30 minutes cardio 4/5 days. The remaining day I do straight cardio for 45-60 minutes--either a class or running on the treadmill. My family was in town last week and the gym was closed today for Easter so I only worked out 3 days last week and I am anxious to get back to it tomorrow! -
Just Wondering....
rnsamantha replied to rydersmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I weigh myself daily and find it helps keep me on track. I don't get to stressed out by day to day fluctuations in my weight, but certainly have a buffer zone of about 3 lbs. If I go above that I know it's time to buckle down and get back on track. -
Can't wait to start enjoying shopping
rnsamantha replied to csawesome's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love shopping, but agree that Goodwill & Savers are the way to go. I've dropped from a 20W to an 8 in 9 months, and it's great that everything fits me, but I couldn't afford to keep buying proper sized clothes if I didn't get them cheap! -

excercise & work post gastric sleeve
rnsamantha replied to whelan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 10 days off. I also have a desk job and was okay going back, but in bed early (like 7 pm) every night due to fatigue. I started exercising about 7 weeks post-op and had no restrictions from my surgeon at that point. -

I'm at 158.3 this morning. I'm really at the point where I want to stop losing now. Not sure how to transition to maintenance though!
