Three weeks post op and I'm down 11 pounds. My surgeon said i should lose over 100 in 6 months so I'm off that pace. I may have been pushing what I can eat. Decided to have a piece of chicken. No issues eating or digesting it but I hope I don't regret trying it too early.

I'm using Colace. I never had constipation in my life but a week after surgery I was in labor for 45 minutes. I didn't want to go through that again and the Colace is working well.

OK, not trying to be mean, but there actually are stupid questions lol

I ate Peanut Butter at my soft food stage. It was soft and had a lot of Protein. It wasn't on my list but I decided to be a rebel and eat it anyway. There could be a lot worse things than peanut butter and jelly. -
This anti-carb craze is something when it has people questioning whether they should eat fruit.

I would rather soil myself than have a catheter.

Somehow I gained 6 pounds since Wednesday. I'm finding it harder to lose after surgery than before.

Colace has worked for me. Much better than being in labor for 45 minutes.

Operating room. I was wheeled in on a bed and then transferred to the table. I remember them strapping my arms in and then I woke up in the recovery room.

I'm think of adding some Metamucil or something to my Protein shake as well.

Had my first issue with constipation. After the surgery I was having diarrhea but this morning was brutal. About 45 minutes and I noticed blood in the stool which has me concerned. My doctor prescribed Colace but it said to stop if I had diarrhea which I did. Hopefully I didn't wreck anything. My doctor told me to start sweating to lose weight and I was sweating passing this.

How do people lose 40 lbs in a month?!
sgc replied to Mjohnson4631's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Usually bigger men too. I lost 37 pounds in 3 weeks but I started at 420 pounds. If you are only in the 200's, that's 20% of your weight vs less than 10% for me. -
People don't have gallbladder issues because of the surgery. They have it because they lose weight in a short period of time. Before I got the sleeve, I had lost 100 pounds within 12 months and had to have my gallbladder removed so luckily I don't have to worry about it.

Problems with gallbladder removal after sleeve
sgc replied to bulldog1973's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom had her gallbladder removed and they cut her bile duct. She never had bariatric surgery. I had mine removed before getting the sleeve with no issues. I also don't understand what is so different about your anatomy. If anything, it should be easier since there is less stomach in the way. -
Day 7; no weight loss yet - when did you start losing?

I honestly feel the same as I did before surgery just less desire to eat. -
Day 7; no weight loss yet - when did you start losing?
sgc replied to Seastars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 days out and lost 3 pounds. I'm actually concerned because I can easily get down fluids. I can gulp them down just like a did before and can get in my 3 Protein shakes. Sometimes I wonder if he actually did the procedure but I'm not really hungry. -
My doctor gave me a prescription for Vitamin D to take once a week and advised me to get a B complex vitamin.

After surgery, when did....
sgc replied to bini120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 days post op and I feel like I did before surgery. One of my strips fell off. The others are starting to look dirty around the edges. Doctor said not to wash the incisions before I went home. Anyone else notice their strips kinda dirty looking? -
Had the surgery this past Wednesday. My goal was to be 380 by surgery and I was 380 on the nose on my home scale (389 on the hospital scale) I was up to 383 after surgery but got a nice little drop today to 377. Hopefully the downward slide starts now.

How common is it to be fatigued after surgery? I don't think I can make it through a day without a nap and am usually in bed by 9. All soreness is gone, no gas pains, no nausea or vomiting. Just fatigue. I also still haven't lost weight and have gained. I'm getting a little antsy since I lost 31 pounds on the preop and thought I would be continuing that.

Hospital stay after surgery....
sgc replied to Nicki24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was at noon and I left at 4 PM the next day. -
I decided to weigh myself and I'm 3 pounds heavier than the morning of surgery. Anyone else have that happen? Is it excess fluids from the surgery?
-
Second day since my surgery and everything seems good. Just a little soreness if I bend down. The pain is less than when I had my gallbladder removed. Only been able to drink clear liquids. Made it through a 20 oz glass of Gatorade. I think I'm supposed to start protein shakes tomorrow. I have had no desire to eat food since the surgery.
-
Had it done yesterday. At home now. Not too much pain. Pretty rough waking up with pain and nausea but they went down. Hardest part was going that first day with no liquids as my mouth was really dry. Just have a little soreness and am slowly taking down water.

I'm really not nervous. It seems like a lot of people get nervous about the change and what happens afterwards but that doesn't phase me. The thing I worried about the most was surviving the surgery. I have lost a total of 90 pounds so my blood pressure has gotten back to the high normal range and my sleep apnea has improved. I passed all my pre surgery tests without any areas of concern. I had an EGD done and they used anesthesia I made it without issue so that all calmed my nerves.

I'm from the Detroit area and my surgery is June 22nd with Dr Hawasli at St John.
