I wear these as well. The sleeves are actually loose on me. It tight around my stomach.

I didn't have any pain post op. I filled my prescription for pain medicine but never used it for the sleeve surgery. Glad I had the meds though because I started getting gout attacks left and right and those pain pills worked well.

I'm actually finding clothes hard to fit. I have an inner tube thing going. My chest and shoulders and thighs have gotten small but around the middle is still large and start to hang and I have handles on the sides. Shirts that fit well around the chest and shoulders are tight around the stomach so I end up with shirts to big around the shoulders.

It's ok to enjoy a slice of pizza. I don't completely deny myself having food I like. Many people eat pizza and don't become obese just like many people drink alcohol and don't become alcoholics. I usually reserve Saturdays for when I eat something totally off the diet. One week it may be McDonalds Breakfast burrito, or a slice of pizza, or some nachos from Taco Bell. I used to eat four breakfast burritos and an order of hashbrowns. Now I eat one burrito. One burrito has 300 calories and 12 grams of Protein so I'm not exactly ruining everything. If you have two slices of pizza a week you'll be fine. My past weight lose experiences always failed when I would deny myself the food I really liked and then would finally breakdown and just start consuming it everyday. I at least know now I can treat myself once a week and when I do, I can't eat as much of it as I used to.

For those who had gall bladder out prior to surgery, how different is the sleeve in comparison?
sgc replied to simpsongrad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder out in 2007 and my sleeve just this past June. I would say they are similar. I had some pretty bad shoulder pain for a day after I went home from the hospital from my gallbladder. No shoulder pain with the sleeve. I really had very little pain around the incisions with either surgery. There was more of an adjustment with the sleeve due to the limitations of what I could eat. After the gallbladder the hospital gave me a big meal shortly after the surgery. -
Another great thing about weight loss with men is that as we getting smaller, the one part we don't want to get smaller gets bigger.

Been awhile since I updated. I started at over 470 pounds. Don't have any pics when I was that size. First pic I took was at about 425. Now at 324 so I lost 100 pounds since my last pic. Decided to take the pic in the same location. Still need to lose about 100 more pounds.

Depression after surgery?
sgc replied to katie09/21/2016's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was the opposite. I live alone and I enjoyed my hospital stay. It was nice having people come in and care for me and get that attention. When I gained weight, I shut myself off and don't have a lot of friends. Now that I am thinner, that doesn't change the fact I still don't have anybody. I never really ate food emotionally but more out of boredom. I still haven't found a desire to eat. -
I was alone and did fine. I had someone drop me off at home. I had my prescriptions filled at the hospital. Went to bed early that night and was fine the next day.

Walmart didn't sell shirts in my size so I had to order 6XL polo shirts on Amazon for usually $30 or more. A 2XL at Walmart is about $10-12. Pants were also about $40 for a 58 waist vs about $15 for a 44 waist. I always had issues with shrinking. Now I want my clothes to shrink in the wash. For workout clothes, I just use some of my old bigger clothes.
-
I don't know about women's clothes but for men a 2XL shirt is cheaper than a 6 or 7XL. There's also a much greater selection. I can go to Walmart and buy a shirt off the rack vs having to order shirts from a limited selection. Pants also get cheaper when you get under a 50 inch waist. I was gaining weight so I was frequently replacing clothes anyways. Plus my pants wore out quicker due to my thighs being larger. I haven't bought new underwear. Buying 3XL boxers are more expensive than XL and are harder to find. I haven't even gotten new underwear. I do buy clothes that are two sizes too small. I have a function I need to attend October 7th and my smaller pants and shirt are a little snug right now so it gives me something to look forward to to be able to wear them come the 7th. Buying clothes is something I look forward to. At my size my selection of clothes was limited. I don't know why they make 6 and 7XL shirts with horizontal stripes.
-
I spend less on food now than I did before. I eat smaller portions and less often and I'm not eating takeout anymore. I kept getting bigger so I had to keep buying bigger clothes. The bigger the clothes, the more they cost so I'm saving money there. I don't buy a full wardrobe. I have one pair of pants for going out and the rest are sweat pants.

Cheated on my preop liquid diet, will the dr cancel my surgery?
sgc replied to ginaandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would level with your surgeon about what you have done. I personally would not want someone cutting into me and operating on my insides without them having 100% complete knowledge and understanding of anything that I had done that had anything to do with the body parts in question. I have done everything I have been asked to do, and lost 95 pounds, and I am still majorly freaked out about what it going to happen with surgery in 10 short days. I can't imagine how I would begin to even deal with keeping a secret from the doctor on top of my current level of anxiety... My surgeon told me to lose 10-15 pounds before surgery and gave me a diet to help achieve it. I lost 31 pounds and my surgeon was thrilled and I achieved what he wanted me to. I don't think a piece of chicken here and there while losing 31 pounds is going to magically make my liver increase in size. -
Cheated on my preop liquid diet, will the dr cancel my surgery?
sgc replied to ginaandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon won't know if you don't tell them. I cheated a couple times on my preop diet and lost 31 pounds in two weeks. I sometimes did a little extra exercise and normally only stuck to the three shakes a day but I did slip in a piece of lean chicken once or twice. -
I don't drink while I eat but I don't wait 30 minutes after to drink. I usually start right after eating. I never felt hungrier if I drink after eating. It's actually quite opposite. So far all my blood tests have shown normal nutrition and I'm on now Vitamin pills.

It's possible to get gout in any joint but the most common is the big toe. I have never gotten it anywhere other than the big toe. I would get the occasional gout flareups but after surgery I kept getting them. Generally gout attacks don't last for 10 minutes. It usually peaks at night for hours and lingers for a couple days. There's usually swelling and redness. Also there is a burning sensation and can be very sensitive to touch. Even laying a bed sheet on my foot can be painful. My doctor ended up prescribing me a daily pill to reduce my uric acid. After I told her about my attacks she tested my uric acid level and it was extremely high.
-
I for some reason have been struggling with gout since surgery. I would get an occasionally but now I'm on a daily medication for gout. Anybody else experience this? Odd that as I lose weight my gout gets worse.

I've lost nearly 140 pounds and don't even count my carb content. Nobody has ever become overweight because they ate too many bananas. If everybody replaced Oreos with bananas, there would be a lot more thin people.
-
I've lost nearly 130 pounds eating carbs. I come from a very healthy Italian family that eats nothing but Pasta. I strayed away and ate a lot of processed junk. I'm back to eating pasta and making my own sauce and I eat fruit which have a lot of carbs. I don't even look at the carb content of the food I eat.

I don't have many friends. I did approach girls when I was in high school. Back then I was much thinner and even somewhat athletic as I played baseball. I got ridiculed when I revealed I was interested in a girl and pretty much shut myself off from society hence why I gained so much weight. Most of the people I talk with at work are women but they are all married or in serious relationships. I really liked using eHarmony because they guide you through approaching women. I did meet someone through there and it was ok. Now every one of my matches are in Canada. Maybe that is a sign?

I don't really know how to flirt or what constitutes as flirting. I was just hoping to find a woman that didn't need flirting or pickup lines. Then I'm not perceptive enough to know if she is interested or not or if she is even single. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact I'm going to be single. Unfortunately there isn't a surgery for that.

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
sgc replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a Breakfast burrito from McDonalds last weekend. I was only able to eat one. I was able to eat four of them before plus a hashbrown before. -
I'm 31, always been single, and still can't detect flirting. Do women actually with guys or is this just something guys are supposed to do? I have to be honest, I would rather poke a hornets nest with a stick than approach strange women at a grocery store and flirt with them.
