My surgeon scale is always higher. I weigh myself at home in the morning without clothes. Your weight will fluctuate throughout the day. I don't care if it's more, just that I'm losing.

I had GERD before the sleeve and now I don't have it at all. I guess I'm the exception because the sleeve cured my GERD and didn't give it to me.
-
The seams showed but they were under the arm. Unless I raised my arms above my shoulders, they weren't noticeable.

I had to get one custom done. Picked up two dress shirts at Walmart. Got them both in the correct neck size and had a tailor cut material out of the one and put it in the sides under the arms to make it wider around the middle. She called it a gusset.

I realized there was going to be less traction in this thread. I'm more or less just talking aloud. I'm just struggling to pick up on if a woman is interested in me and I always go back to why would a girl be interested in a guy who used to weigh 470 pounds? With the skin issue, I'll need to eventually come out with it that I used to weight about 220 pounds more.

I still suck at this game. Still haven't gone to any dinner or play with this woman from work. A week before Christmas another coworker who I didn't know very well was leaving the company. There was a gathering at a bar after work for her going away. I wasn't going to attend because I really didn't know her. The other woman who I think is interested in me asked if I was going. I said probably not because I didn't know her. She then said she was going so of course I changed my mind and went. While there we talked a little. She asked if I was dating anyone. I said I wasn't and she said she could set me up with one of her friends. That kind of disappointed me but maybe she was wanting me to ask her out. I was too nervous to do it in front of coworkers so I didn't. Anyways after before we went home she asked me to message her on Facebook when I got home. I did and she responded and said she was so glad I decided to go. They had another thing planned and she would let me know. She hasn't spoken with me since. I really think I blew my chance and should have asked her out that night. I guess I'm still fighting self image issues. This woman has so many friends and is well liked by everyone and so pretty I just can't understand why someone like that would want to be with a guy that at one time weighed almost 500 pounds. I have been agonizing about it for over a month now. Not sure what to do. I'm getting closer to a goal weight and may start up an online profile and try to move on. Most of my adulthood I have been a loner due to my weight and it's just so hard to try to start fresh in my 30's.

Decided to give a try at growing a beard. I'm 9 days out and it seems very patchy. It does look a little thicker than in the past. My face isn't nearly as round as it used to be and I have a more prominent jaw line than in the past. I don't think there is more hair, just less real estate to cover. I'll give it a month and see if it looks like there's potential. My doctor has me on some B Vitamins which I hope helps. I'm even experimenting with Minoxidil.

Where did you get those compression pants at?
-
I've noticed now that I am into the 250's, the rolls on my sides are starting to shrink rapidly now. With a compression shirt and a dark colored shirt, my sides are very unnoticeable now. I was also able to squeeze into a size 36 pant. It was tight but I was still able to button up and zip. Probably stick with 38 pants for a couple more weeks. At the point where I can walk into any store now and be able to find a pair of pants. Shirts are still hit or miss.

I used almond milk. My surgeon even recommended it.

How did you research your surgeon's background?
sgc replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I first found my doctor by recommendation from my primary care doctor. Since I value her opinion, that was a good start. She also had two people on her staff who had surgery with this doctor who were very successful. Then I went from there and just searched and searched. Looked at all the health sites who had patient reviews. Everything looked good and at one the meetings there were a lot of people from out of state coming to see him so they must believe he is good as well. -
MEN vs WOMEN & the perception of body image and weight in society?
sgc replied to Diva Taunia's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not going to speak for women but men do get treated differently based on looks. Men are discriminated against based on weight. One thing I will say is that there is more awareness and more discussion about body image with women than men. Society makes it ok for women to be more vocal about body image whereas men are pressured more to internalize things. I think this societal pressure of not being open by men is a big reason men commit suicide at a higher rate than women. -
BariatricPal Policy Reminders – Everyone Please Read!
sgc replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Rants & Raves
Is that it? I thought people were changing their own names, wih your new name and the examples you gave those members' comments to Alex. It has nothing to do with "leader." There is no leader in this site. It's Alex's business, not a workshop or class sort of operation. . . What you're not getting is that leaving a place involves taking your things with you, such as your name and personal property. If you've left a job, for example, didn't you take your things from the desk or locker you'd used? Those who want to quit BP want to take what's personal, but none are things that can be packed into a carton. You registered for BP only a few weeks ago. You're speaking without knowing what's been going on that led to the current climate. One of the worst if not the worst, is today's revelation of the website owner's forays into reading personal messages that members exchange. That's dirty business. You don't get to take your desk and chair or any of the work you previously did. You leave and stop whining about being fired. Do you expect us to delete the posts that other members took their time to respond to? Every member agreed to our terms of service and forum rules upon signup. If we receive complaints from a member that they're being bullied by a certain member or group of members via private messaging. We will go ahead and investigate and read through the reported messages. This is common practice on any internet forum, FaceBook included. Fancy that, it's written right in the terms of service that everyone agreed to but probably didn't read that accounts will not be deleted. -
I don't see what is so wrong with that post. I would just offer up advice and leave it. If they are willing to accept it that is up to them. I'm just amazed at how personally upset people get when someone doesn't seem to be receptive to their advice.

Please do not delete my account. I still plan to come here and do not know or care about the people that got banned. Just felt that should be mentioned. -
I suppose I could counter rant. I haven't come across these threads that people rant about. Maybe I don't read enough.
-
I guess the same can be said why do you read the post if it upsets you that much? I don't mean to upset you, but I still indulge in fast food. Had some Taco Bell this past week and still lost 5 pounds this week and 210 pounds overall. Many normal sized and healthy people still east fast food from time to time. I have a pretty rigid diet but leaving open the possibility of having a fast food meal once a week and don't have to beat myself up over it. Ultimately, who cares what some stranger on a forum eats?

Currently using an insta-slim compression shirt. I did recently go down a size. It's a big of a struggle to put it on. I'm not sure I could go down another size.
-
May have solved my shirt issue. Decided to wonder into Kohls for the first time in years. I was able to buy a shirt from the regular section and not big and tall. In fact, the big and tall shirts were too big. Got a button down shirt in a dark maroon or wine type color with small vertical stripes. It's really hard to see my inner tube now. I think the buttons and the vertical stripes take away from the mid section and focus more on my length. Pretty happy I'm getting right at the point where I can walk into any store and be able to get clothes. No more having to pay top dollar for off brand, poor quality clothes online.
-
It really not my stomach but my sides bulge out. Even sucking in does nothing with my sides. Even when I was bigger, my sides were always bigger.
-
What kind of shirts do you guys wear? After losing 200 pounds, the weight has settled around my mid section. It's like I'm wearing and inner tube. I wear a 2x shirt and it is a little baggy around the shoulders and chest but gets tighter around the middle. I do wear a compression shirt but it only helps a little bit. I need something that gets wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. Seems to be the complete opposite of what a men's shirt should be.

Addicted to My 600 pound life.
sgc replied to Redmaxx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like a reasonable trade off. These people get a life savings surgery that would likely cost at least $20-30,000, Dr Nowzardan gets exposure, and the show gets to make money. In order for the show to make money and pay for this surgery, they need people watching and people want to see extreme cases. They don't want to sit and just watch normal people who are overweight lose weight. I'm sure everyone knows somebody who is overweight. We tune in to watch the extreme examples. The price for getting this surgery is to expose yourself to the public. It seems like a reasonable cost if you are in a dire situation. -

I've always wondered, does the show pay for the surgery and your relocation expenses?
