Fill went okay. No issues. I got 1.8cc in my 4cc band. I certainly don't feel any different. Hopefully when I eat real food again I'll feel full on very little.
-
Well other than eating like a horse lately all is well here. I get my first fill tomorrow! Yeah! I'm very excited. I equate the wait to the first fill like getting a Christmas present and not being able to open it till February! You get to look at it every day, you know what it is but you can't touch it or play with it. :frown: I'm so excited to actually get this band working. Right now it feels like there is nothing there. Any weight I lost before the surgery or the 2 weeks following it is all gained back.

Headaches from Liquid Diet
Away2me replied to princesstracey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome job quitting the sodas. I quit them too and I have to say I feel a tons better. Even though I quit the caffeine drinks more than a couple of years ago, quitting even the caffeine free drinks helps too. -
What a fantastic doc you have. That is such fantastic news that he went to bat for you like that! Awesome!

Poll: How long before you went back to work
Away2me replied to marieze's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Surgery on Friday - back to normal activities on Monday. I tried not to lift my son too much (he's 26 pounds) but sometimes you have to lift a 1 1/2-year-old. -
Yeah, I was too honest. LOL Oh well, I can wait, this band is a life long thing so one more week is fine with me. I've got the rest of my life to loose and maintain. Patience was never my strong point.
-
yeah no dice, I tried. I'm scheduled for Jan 25th. I can't wait.

AudricIan: I am so jealous of you! I wanted to have my fill next week and they are making me wait till six weeks post op. Did you even ask if you could have your appointment early for your first fill? Claudia said, "not until 6 weeks". I'm gaining everyday now that I'm on solids.

Painful burping & hiccups - does that go away?
Away2me replied to MamaJava's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have suffered from severe gas pain for most of my life. I mean, to the point of looking like I'm 9mo pregnant (before I was fat  ) No OTC meds worked, I finally had a lower GI done by an Internist and he said there is no clear issue, but probably just IBS. Now, 3 1/2 weeks post op and I have not had one problem with gas. Not on! :clap2: And oddly enough I'm eating as much right now as I did pre-op. I know this will change once I get my first fill. But so far, no issues with gas in my tummy at all. I did have the gas from the surgery but that's a different feeling entirely. -
Painful burping & hiccups - does that go away?

Yep, the pain part of it goes away too. Suzanne, I have a 20 month old son, so I went to lifting sooner than I was supposed to also. But lucky I didn't have any port pain....well except when he would accidently kick or head butt me there! :nervous -
Painful burping & hiccups - does that go away?
Away2me replied to MamaJava's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally goes away! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and I had terrible hiccups the first 10 days. Plus the burps, my goodness where did they come from? That noise was something I'd never heard of and the length of the burp was down right impressive. But yes, it gets much better real soon. I still have odd burps, but that gets better ever day too. I think when the are doing the surgery they move the diaphragm enough to "anger" it! Thus the hiccups. -
I broke doc's orders and started real food. I couldn't stand not eating normally for this long when I felt totally normal and very hungry. VERY hungry. I have absolutely no restriction (although I'm not eating as much at one sitting as I used to) I want to, I probably could, but I don't for fear I'll make my band slip. I'm chewing everything very well and sipping Water with each bite so that it is sort of like a soft food. I know I'm gaining back some of the weight I lost pre-op. I can't wait for my first fill.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Away2me replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I told my mom about my surgery and she was so excited that, "you are finally going to look like yourself". Huh? Then for Christmas she gave me a Magic Bullet blender and told me, "Don't go blending anything fattening in this". Oh and of course the kicker was the weight loss powder drink mix and the Pig christmas ornament. (pic attached) She giggled as she said, "this is your before". Ha ha Nothing like a little support from good ol mom right? :rolleyes -
I've heard there have been some MMA fighters who have been banded. That fascinates me because they work out so hard I wonder how they can get all the protein they need in order to compete at such a high physical level. I wish I knew which fighters they were as I'm curious as to what weight class they are.

Well I'm newly banded and trying not to over eat while I'm waiting for my first fill. I lost 10.5 pounds, but I've already gained one pound back. :cry

Has anyone deducted your lapband at TAX time?
Away2me replied to PigsRFlying's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great info. I was self pay also and between my lap band and some co-pays for a emergency room run for my son, we might be able to write off some of this. -
I'm a week behind you on my surgery date and like you have no pain, no restriction, wouldn't even know I have a band in. I feel like I could eat anything, but I'm being careful. I did super good over Christmas Eve and Christmas day but I was an eating machine yesterday. I can't wait for my first fill. I'm still down 10.5 pounds, but I doubt I will be before my first fill if I keep eating like this. I can't believe you haven't told your husband yet. That's amazing.

I'd back off the fruit and veggies a bit, anything that causes gas. And yes, the Gas X strips help a lot, so does Mylanta. I had the same issue the first day I started solids.
-
I'm 10 days post op and feel better than I did 10 days pre-op. Seriously, it gets much better. As far as the shots go, I feel your pain. I was giving myself multiple injections daily for infertility. My whole body looked like a poka dot! Hang in there, you can do this!

In Tijuana. I was self pay. You? My husband qualifies for insurance so he's going to have his done soon. He's got a consult with a doc in Riverside. -
I too had a terrible time with the gas. The heating pad really worked for me. I propped myself upright in bed with lots of pillows and moved the heating pad from my upper back to middle back and it really eased the gas pain. Walking helped, as did the Gas X. I'm 8 days Post-op and I think day 3 was the worst. I was hungry and felt terribly bloated, a miserable combination. But by day 6, I was feeling great. Now I'm feeling very normal, only a tiny tender at my port site, but no gas thank goodness. It gets better really quickly! Hang in there and congrats on your new band.

How Do I Get the Glue Off?

It is too late I've already picked most of it away. Since I can't eat I pick! -
How Do I Get the Glue Off?
Away2me replied to Lynn0216's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I picked most of it off. :omg: I hate it! It drives me nuts seeing and feeling it. Some of the incisions just have a thin coat and it doesn't "pick off " well. Wish I could find something to take it off too. -
How long before the GAS Stops post-op?
Away2me replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Gas X strips and have been using them a lot, since the day after surgery. This isn't gas in my GI, it is the air in my body from the surgery ( I think). I thought maybe the Gas X strips would help the burping, they might be, but I'm still surprised at that burp feeling. The best drinks I've found are the EAS Protein drinks. 17g of protein and they taste really good, they are super thin, not thick and goopy.
