I've never had problems with my gall bladder but I think the last 2 days I've had GB attacks. I'm having one now and the pain is severe! I know with other WLS they give you medicine to avoid this due to rapid wt loss. I don't have that medicine because the loss is to be slow. I've lost 19 lbs in 7.5 weeks. I'll have to call my surgeon Monday and will do a liquid diet, no fat til then. Going on a cruise in 2 weeks.......

What they are looking for is delayed gastric emptying or gastroparesis. This condition is often found in diabetics and is because of neuropathy, like diabetics with their feet and eyes. The stomach nerves get affected and don't work well. This makes your stomach empty slowly. Hopefully the gastric emptying test will be ok. If you are a diabetic, the better controlled your blood sugar is the better this condition will get. Also eat 5-6 small meals instead of 3 big meals. Good luck

@@johngypsy I think 70 lbs is very doable w the band. I lost 26 pre surgery and almost 30 since surgery (3 mons post op). I have 50-70 more but I feel amazing already! I eat better and definitely can exercise more and feel good after...not like I'm dying! Lol Sounds like you have a great life style plan in place! It's the little things that keep you motivated...getting non plus size clothes, moving the car seat forward because your backend is smaller, seeing a thinner you in vacation pics! ???? -

I had the band and so far I'm very happy with my decision. I have had issues with heartburn/reflux for 20 yrs and with the sleeve it would be much worse, so just not an option for me. Didn't want all the malabsorption issues with bypass. I have had no problems with my band. Got stuck once, learned my lesson. I have 3.5 cc in my band and until this month was consistently loosing 9-10 lbs a month. Minimal loss this month but they did not do a fill last month since I was loosing well. I plan on a fill in a week in a half. You have to do what is right for you, just know that if you follow the rules it does work -
Love my Fitbit! I've had one for 3 years but really have used it most the past 7 mon. I have mine linked to MFP but don't usually eat my "extra" calories since I'm trying to loose! It really motivates me to take the steps more, walk more etc. it's also fun...my dgt and I do challenges with each and it's fun competition that pushes us

I use Genepro protein powder. 1 scoop is 30 Gm of protein. It can be mixed in hot or cold so every morning I have a decaf coffee and stir in half a scoop of the Genepro, 15 Gm of protein with just my coffee! Sometimes I eat a protein bar, Life Choice from walmart, 170 cal, 18 Gm protein. This works great when I'm on the run. 33 Gm of protein total with my coffee! Other times I have a Dannon Greek yogurt and mix in half a scoop of the Genepro for 27 Gm of protein for a total (with coffee) 42 Gm of protein!! Genepro has no flavor and mixes in great with hot or cold.

I began my journey in Nov 2014 and lost 26 lbs by surgery. I had my LB done 4/16/15 and have lost 23 more lbs for 49 total. Today was the first day that I got any compliment on how I look!! I got " wow you look great!", " wow you've lost a lot of weight". This happened all morning!! I was so happy! Only a few people at work know I had WLS. Picture from my vacation last week...my dgt said it was my Kim Kardashian dress!! Lol

Thanks everyone!! It is amazing how a compliment can be a great motivator too!! I have a long way to go to goal by I know I will get there

Osteoarthritis at 32-losing weight with diet ONLY?
kwcrnp replied to BandedMi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes X-ray and MRI show osteoarthritis BUT his orders to do no activity is absolutely inaccurate! You need to do OA friendly exercises like walking, swimming, yoga etc. by not moving you will be worse. You need a second opinion. You need PT to strengthen your leg muscles. I have OA as well....injections helped a lot, I do the elliptical machine. My knees kill me when I do steps or treadmill. It's a chronic condition but you can treat it even w a LB and should remain active. Get a second opinion. -
I'm going on vacation next week, it will be 9 weeks post LB, 1.5 weeks post gall bladder removal. I went to Marshalls to look for a dress or two....usually I haven't found much there, not a huge fan of their "plus size" items. But I tried on a bunch of dresses size 14 and 16, not women's but a regular 14 & 16....every item fit, I didn't like the look of all of them but they all fit!! I walked away with 3 beautiful dresses!! I'm so excited! The styles of them will also be flattering as I continue to loose FYI at 8 weeks I'm down 20 lbs!

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm down 22 lbs from surgery, 48 total. I did have a complication though....I developed gall stones and had to urgently have my GB out. 2 surgeries in less then 7 weeks is not fun! I had just gotten back to 100% and then had this. But I will say the GB surgery was easier and I could resume my regular LB diet. Hope all is well!

Surgery 6/11 strange thing to say...
kwcrnp replied to JosieAppleHead's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good luck tomorrow. I insisted cath would come out when leaving recovery. Then after my first trip of many to the toilet I put on my PJ bottoms. Peeing was hard at first, walk walk walk to help w the gas. -
Well it was severe....I had gall stone pancreatitis with my lipase almost 6000. Fortunately it dropped very fast (passed the stone). Had my GB out yesterday and I'm now home recovering. Never planned on 2 surgergies in less then 8 weeks. My surgeon doesn't typically give Actigall to her lap band pts, but always to bypass and sleeve pts.

I'm in for a get together! I'm almost 8 weeks out and down 20+ lbs. Did have a set back of gall stone pancreatitis and had to have my GB removed yesterday! On the mend and will be back on plan within a day or so. Let me know where and when....I'm by the airport but have no issue w driving somewhere east. Kristi -
I weigh daily, every morning after my shower. I use the app Happy scale which has a great graphic pic for me to see my downward trend. It also sets goal and shows your wt loss in 7 days/ a month/3 mon/ total...right there on the main page. You can choose to track by actual or average trend (for those that get discouraged with any gain) Weighing daily is a motivation tool for me....either a "yayy I'm on track" or "gotta watch things better".

So I've seen many people and veterans post the comment "and my band lets me know when I eat what I shouldn't" and variations of that comment. I have fullness and I'm learning well when to stop eating. I have also done well at avoiding foods I shouldn't eat but have had no issue when I have let's say candy (rare). So tonight I'm working extra, a night shift, that I rarely work. I use to eat a lot of junk during this shift. So I slipped for the first time and had some junk (much less then before but still)...I feel a little sick to my stomach but not terrible. No other problems. I have wondered what happens to people when they make the above comment....sick, diarrhea, pain?? I had 2 things I shouldn't have and wish my band stopped me at 1!

Thanks everyone! I did read those articles just before my surgery and found them very helpful!! I know one day of eating wrong isn't the end....this is a lifetime change! I just was curious what physical symptoms people had and with what foods. Completely back on track today

Getting close to goal weight! Any advice on corrective surgeries? (Mommy makeover?)
kwcrnp replied to MrsPJ's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My insurance covered the TT due to chronic rash under the skin folds. They did not cover the arms but that didn't cost much since it was during the same surgery. -
Getting close to goal weight! Any advice on corrective surgeries? (Mommy makeover?)
kwcrnp replied to MrsPJ's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I would recommend the above website and select a good surgeon. I lost 110 lbs in 2004 and underwent a TT in 2006. I have been completely over the moon happy with it! I gained 65 lbs back, hence the LB in April but my stomach still looks great!! I also had my arms done at the same time....not as happy and he warned me of the scars etc. I would probably still do them but it's not as invisible as my TT. Do your research and congrats on your success!! -
@@Dancing Fool Great job! I was down 9 lbs (their scale) from my two week post op check, 14 total. I did get a 1 cc fill yesterday and feel good. Keep up the good work????

New Here...Scared...and Questions!
kwcrnp replied to Sun Godess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As someone who is 6.5 weeks out from being banded I feel I can add some info to the early stages with some of your concerns. All great questions by the way! 1. Yes, so far its been nothing but positive, 16 lbs down since surgery 2. Yes I feel very normal. No one would know I had it. I eat fairly similar (no fillers like bread, and only occasional small serving of pasta) 3. Yes, it often amazes me how little I need to eat and feel satisfied. I do not have hunger like when I did WW in the past 4. I also work with a team. I chose to tell them AFTER I had surgery and only those that Im close with and eat with. They are very supportive. To everyone else I'm "on a diet" 5. too soon to truthfully answer this at this point. 6. for me it does suppress my appetite. I started with 2.5 cc fill at surgery, got an additional 1cc yesterday and I typically only eat 1000 cal a day (sometimes less, sometime more) Never would I have been able to eat so little and NOT feel like I'm starving...I don't feel like I'm starving 7. I lost 110 in 2004 on Atkins, I kept it off for for .5 yrs then it started to creep up.Fortunately I only gained 65 of it back but it was a HUGE struggle 8. I was very worried about this too...I got appitizer forks and spoons. I used them at first but honestly I have no problem at this point with regular silverware. I have found I enjoy my food better now that I chew it! I actually taste it!! 9. My advice is research and then be honest with yourself. I had many talks with myself, was honest with myself, confronted my issues. I have not been perfect, I eaten a candy bar here and there but only 2-3 in almost 7 weeks vs one a day! you have to look at what your issues are and come up with a plan to deal with it. I wish you the best! I love my decision at this point and feel it has already improved my life! -
Yesterday was 6 weeks since I became banded! I don't regret it at all!! I had lost 26 lbs pre-op by the day of surgery. Since surgery I have lost 14lbs, slightly more then 2 lbs a week so on target. I'm back to my gym and doing 45 min cardio, some circuit work as well. I was cleared to start abs today My surgeon had put 2.5 cc in my band at surgery and I got an additional 1 cc today. Since getting my band I definitely can't eat even half of what I use too in volume! It increased some this past week so it was time for a fill. I've only had one stuck episode (boy that hurt) and seem to be doing well with eating slowly, small bites and chewing well otherwise. The fill didn't hurt, a little lidocaine and then she checked the volume and then added the 1 cc. I'm posting this for the new people, I know I wanted to see what others were doing and how their first fill went. I'm so happy I chose to make a change in my life for the better. Since Nov I've dropped from a size 22 to a 16-18 depending on the make. ????????

RENT A DRESS & OTHER CLOTHES
kwcrnp replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
"Rent the runway" is a similar site, no monthly fee though. You just pay when you rent! We have used it several times and it's awesome!!! All designer dresses and sizes 0-22. When you rent one size, you have can have another size (up or down based on reviews) sent free as well ????. Package includes return packaging and postage pre paid. I really recommend it ???????? -
I began this journey with my lifestyle classes in Nov 2014, was banded 4/16/15 and to date my weight loss (combined pre and post) is 37 lbs. on Mother's Day I took a pic with my kids and could not believe the difference from just 1 year ago!!! Attached is the picture, on the left 1 yr ago and the right 3.5 weeks post lap band and post 5 months of lifestyle changes. My kids said they were so proud of me ????????

I'm 5 weeks post band and was given the instructions to not use a straw. I imagine it's to avoid swallowing air but I'm not sure. I go back the 29th for my first fill and will ask but until then....is it no straws forever? All my Water bottles have straws! Lol
