A pic of my hubby and I before we started our weight loss journey -
this might be a bit awkward but....
Jendroppinglbs replied to Courtneyxo17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can also try drinking Smooth Move Tea. Most stores carry it in the tea section. It is a herbal tea that helps get things moving. I try to drink a cup every couple of days so I don't get backed up. -
BE HONEST SLEEVERS, did anyone think okay they are going to cut half of my stomach off and the weight will just fall off?
Jendroppinglbs replied to tamelntre's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too thought the weight would come off faster but I am more than pleased with what I have accomplished so far. I know I have quite a ways to go but so far so good One thing you need to consider too is that even when you are not dropping pounds you will still be dropping inches. During my "3 week stall" I didn't lose a pound but still lost inches so I did not give up hope. I just started at the gym a couple of weeks ago and see that working out really does make a difference in how I feel and the pounds that I lose per week. One thing to remember is every body is different so don't compare yourself to others just be proud of what you have been able to accomplish -
Vitamins & Protein?!
Jendroppinglbs replied to VBGGermany's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have never tried the Isopure so I don't know how they compare to the Premier. I make sure that I drink at least one shake a day to give me a good jump start on my Protein intake. Not sure what you can eat but I also eat the light greek yogurt that is another 12 grams of protein and tastes so yummy -
Vitamins & Protein?!
Jendroppinglbs replied to VBGGermany's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For Protein try Premier Protein shakes. They have 30 grams of protein per 11 oz serving. If you can get 2 shakes down through the day you will be good on your protein intake for the day. I like the chocolate ones but by hubby prefers the vanilla or strawberry. -
Recipes/Foods during the Purée Phase
Jendroppinglbs replied to gresau1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ate a lot of lentil Soup pureed with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder mixed in. One recipe I got off of here that was great was 1 small can of chicken 2 TBS of light ranch dressing 1 TBS of franks hot wings sauce(I used more sauce but I like things on the spicy side) and 2 TBS of blue cheese all pureed together it was like eating hot wings this was one of my favorite foods during that time. Another good one was fat free refried Beans, lean ground beef, salsa and a little bit a cheese pureed until like baby food. -
I had the same issue as you I ended up having to use the fleet suppositories and milk of magnesia to get things moving per my doctor’s recommendation. I now drink a cup of smooth move tea every few days to try and stay regular.

Question on returning to work after surgery
Jendroppinglbs replied to MamaBiv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took a week off had surgery on 2/27 back at work on 3/9 I kind of wish I would have taken a couple more days off. I sit behind a desk for 8 hours a day and by the end of the first day I was tired and ready to go home. By Wed of that week I was good to go so in retrospect I should have taken a couple more days off. Oh well live and learn -
I would call your surgeons office to check but I had pain for a good 2 weeks at my large incision site. It was not all the time it was more like when I moved the wrong way or bent too far over. When I called to ask the Dr about it the nurse said I was either pulling on a stich inside or I pulled a muscle but if the pain did not go away in a couple days to call back and by the next day it was almost gone. She said I could alternate hot and cold packs on it and that seemed to help. I don't know if this is the same as you but I would call the Dr. just to be on the safe side.

What's it like to eat with other people?
Jendroppinglbs replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/27/15, I have been out to eat with my family and enjoyed my grandsons birthday party. Going out to eat is just like before its just that I now order different food. My husband and daugher got hamburgers and I opted for scrambled eggs with cheese. I was still able to enjoy eating with them but I must say it was hard not to ask my husband for a small piece of meat off his burger because it smelled so good but I was still on the soft part of my post op diet so I couldn't The neat part was that I was able to eat my leftovers for 2 more meals so it really saves you your food budget. So far as food at my grandsons birthday party I just brought my own food and ate it while others were having pizza. -
Spring Valley at Walmart has a sugar free chocolate calcium chew. 500 mg per piece so I only have to take 3 a day. The flavor is good it is almost like eating a tootsie roll They are a little on the hard side to find of the 4 stores within 40 miles of me only one carries them so I stock up when they have them. Oops had to edit the brand put the wrong name down

Jendroppinglbs replied to healthiswealth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How are you getting 75 grams of protein in one day? What kinds of foods are you eating? I get between 35 and 40 and would really like to get closer to 70. -

The smell of food makes me sick to my stomach so I rarely get to the mashing of food because being around it makes me want to vomit. I am so sorry you are going thru this. I hope your Dr. can figure out what is going on and you are able to get some food down and keep it down. -
February Sleevers - how are you doing?
Jendroppinglbs replied to healthiswealth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 2/27/15 highest weight was 319 had to do a 6 month weight lost program for my insurance company day of surgery weight was 267 now at 248. So I am super happy with having it done. Recovery was super fast and real not in too much pain quit the pain meds 2 days post op. On the pureed phase of food that has been quite interesting but so far I have been able to keep everything down. I drink at least 1 shake a day to get a good dose of Protein in and starting walking on my treadmill again. Glad to read that everyone else is doing good too. Totally looking forward to buying new clothes when I drop a few more sizes -
When I see a seriously overweight young woman, I have this overwhelming urge...
Jendroppinglbs replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Not "perturbed" with you at all and as I said before if you think my comments were about you then run with it. There were other poster who put up comments about how they wish someone would have approached them about WLS so maybe did you think I was giving my opinion to there comments but as I said before if you want to sit here and think my comments were about you feel free to. I came to this site looking for advise and to have decent conversations with people who have been through this process and try to gain some knowledge from them not sit here and bicker back and forth with someone who assumes a post I write is directed at them. So, as I said earlier hope you have a great day and I will move on to a more positive post. -

I am not going to sit here and bicker back and forth with you about who read what post as obviously you did not read mine as I said my comments were not addressed to you or anyone in paticular. My comments were my opinion and if you don't like my opinion that is fine I was under the impression that I was also able to post my opinion as others had but obviously I was wrong. I hope you have a great day. -

I am a weird one lol. I really like the flavor of the Premier Protein chocolate shake and they are so filling to me so drinking 5 shakes a day was not that bad for me -

I am not "scolding" anyone I am just simply saying sometimes people forget where they came from and they have to remember how it would have made them feel if someone would have done that to them or how it would make you feel if you had an overweight teenager/young adult and someone approached them in the mall about WLS and your child came home in tears over it. My husband is severly overweight and will be having his surgery in a month or two and I have a teenage daughter who is overweight as well. My point was that if a random stranger approached my teenage daughter and started to talk to her about WLS the Momma bear in me would come out and tell you to beat feet. WLS is a topic that I would bring up with my daughter not something a random stranger should bring up. No one needs to take it upon themselves to approach a stranger about WLS. It is as bad as a person who no longer drinks and feels it is there obligation to tell you why alcohol is so bad or someone who has found religion again and feels the need to tell you why there god is better, It is a topic that should not be brought up to random strangers if people want to discuss it with family and friends that is one thing but to approach a total stranger is not acceptable in my opinion. Some people may feel diffent about it that is why we all have a different opinion I was just simply expressing mine as other were expressing theres. So if you felt you were being "scolded" that was not my intention as you were not the only one who had posted on this topic. I have recieved in the mail before from a "person with good intentions" ads for weight loss pills, exercise videos etc. mailed directly to me from a random person just trying to help me out was what the note enclosed in the envelope said. Do I know who sent them no but it was someone close enough to me to know my full name and address so I am very touchy about being approached by people with "good intentions" about weight loss help. All those ads and letter did was upset me. When I was ready to make a change I did the research and found out what steps I had to take to qualify for weight loss surgery. -

Wow is all I can say. I know I am new to this thread but damn it was not that long ago you were the one who was overweight. How would it have made you feel if some random stranger came up to you and told you all about weight loss surgery. A fat person knows when they are fat they don't need a random stranger coming up to them and handing them a fyler about weight loss surgery. I can tell you if ANYONE came up to me or to my family and did that it would not be a pretty sight. I have been fat my whole life and it took me to the age of 42 to finally decide to do something about it. Do I think that just because I had surgery it gives me a right to preach to overweight people about WLS absolutly not. When I am asked I am very open about my surgery but I would never want to hurt another persons feelings and just approach them and start talking about all the benefits of WLS. Just my opinion. -

The pre op diet is not that bad. I did a shake for Breakfast, 1/2 a shake for a snack, a shake for lunch and up to 2 cups of baby carrots, 1/2 a shake for a snack, a full shake for dinner and up to 2 cups of steamed broccoli and a full shake for a snack before bed. It really gets you used to drinking your Protein shakes for after surgery. Good luck on the start of your journey. Trust me it will be worth it -

Have you tried to puree your foods you are trying to eat? I tried to just smash my food up with my spoon and that was not good enough I had a hard time getting it down but after I started to puree them I have no more issues. I just take a can of fat free refried Beans add some Water to thin them out and puree until the texture of baby food and so far it has worked for me. I am new to this too I just had my surgery on 2/27 but so far have been doing good. -
3 weeks out today really bummed
Jendroppinglbs replied to kyrickchick64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just started my 4th week post op and have been able to eat pureed foods. I take all kids of foods and puree them till they are like baby food and then eat with a baby spoon so I don't take large bites and have been able to keep everything down that I have made. That might help you out. I tried to eat a poached egg and it did not sit well but pureed refried Beans do it is so odd. Hope you find something that your are able to eat and keep down.
