Cheating with post op diet
eclecticwingtips replied to Lucilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are the cook then maybe focus on cooking them foods that are less likely to tempt you and would also improve their diets for the long term. It is a hard battle but one you can be in control of -
Cheating with post op diet
eclecticwingtips replied to Lucilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask people to stop eating that stuff around you or move to another room. It sucks so much but you have to look after your new tummy. Im on a 5 week pre op diet and climbing the walls craving wise but i keep telling myself this is to protect myself during surgery Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -

Sleeve or bypass? Please give me advice!
eclecticwingtips replied to Nicki24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was originally leaning for rny but my doctor refused to perform it at my weight and gave me an option of mini bypass or sleeve (both under anesthesia for much less time) i choose the sleeve as there are more revision options if necessary Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -
Pre-Op Liquid Diet... Does it get easier?
eclecticwingtips replied to B_D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre op diet isnt purely liquid, but its for 5 weeks. I have two Protein shakes or replacements (Optifast pudding or bar etc) unlimited low starch veg and a meat protein portion a day. It has been really hard but its gotten easier. Its around 800-900 calories a day Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -
How did you handle pre-op diet?
eclecticwingtips replied to Chloe_Australia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently on a 5 week pre op diet. I am focusing on the fact that it is ok and normal to feel hungry. That means my body is doing its job ( eating the fat around the liver) and that this isnt forever. I will be allowed carbs again, just not for a while and less often and small amounts Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -

eclecticwingtips replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yeah i think the international shipping makes these items not viable for purchase. Its unfortunate and i hope in the future you guys look at alternative shipping methods which are cheaper Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -

Fear and money!
eclecticwingtips replied to Angela4357's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think about how much you spend on take out or junk food now. Also calculate the cost of medications for high blood pressure, high blood sugar and other meds which may not be needed after surgery. Then think about the other deductibles you might have to spend in the next 10 years for knee ops or heart surgery or a ton of other obesity related health issues. By now that $5k shouldnt look so bad. Ive been saving for a year for my surgery and this helped me keep on track of saving for it Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -

Has anyone used super for gastric bypass
eclecticwingtips replied to denniso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didnt want to wait 12 months either but i focused on the fact that this is a journey and used that time to work on my reasons for eating, learning about the surgeries, pre op, post op and everything in between and building my fitness. Im glad ive done it this way as i feel im really ready for this surgery and i feel like ive worked for it. I like the US approach in some ways with the supervised diets etc and feel that we could benefit from that here in australia -
Pre-op liquid diet...is this right?
eclecticwingtips replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can add more Water to the shakes if you want but it will make the flavour less. The calorie intake seems about right. Im at 900 calories on my pre op diet and my diet is for 5 weeks Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -
Liquid diet begins....
eclecticwingtips replied to apmcleish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
35 days?!?! Oh wow! That's intense. Why so long? Ashlie M Sent from my iPhone Because im on the high end of the weight scale. My highest weight was 167kg. Before pre op diet was 150kg. Also the research shows that 6 weeks is optimal for liver shrinkage, although for paitent compliance 2 weeks is optimal as most cant manage 6. My doc and i discussed what i felt i could manage plus life commitments and we decided on 5 weeks -

eclecticwingtips replied to apmcleish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 35 day pre op diet and im down to 32 days left. Its gonna be a lonnnng road. Im allowed two Optifast or other protien replacements a day, unlimited veg ( only some vegies allowed) and a lean meat Protein serve per day. Has to be around 900 calories Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -
Birth control pills
eclecticwingtips replied to mmorris4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasnt told i need to stop but im guessing that doc one may be wanting to minimise the risk of blood clots sine birth control increases the risk of blood clots, esp in thise who are overweight or obese -
My pre op diet officially starts today. I have 5 weeks of Optifast twice a day then a small meal of lean Protein and vegies. I know its not as bad as some but it is daunting! !! Im realllllly not a fan of optifast so i just emailed my surgeon asking if there are alternatives they will allow What did your pre op diet look like?? Was it all optifast? Another brand or something else all together?

Sleep apnea question/rant
eclecticwingtips replied to jgeldmacher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There is also no guarantee it will go away post op. For many it does (approx 70%) but not everyone. It has serious risks, stroke, heart attack. These risks are compounded by anesthesia. Why risk it? Maybe see if you can hire a machine Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk -
The flavours are nice from bulk nutrients but they arent very strong. I puchased their flavour sachet for the strawberry flavour to enhance the flavour but the rest were good without adding anything. The new choc honeycomb us my fav. I add it to 1/3 cup of greek yogurt and omg its like a mousse dessert Bulk nutrients also allows you to order a sample to try Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

Bypass vs. Sleeve
eclecticwingtips replied to caligirltt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was leaning towards the bypass, however my surgeon recommended a sleeve due to the high risk of having me under longer due to my high bmi. So im having a sleeve Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
