    No weight-loss

Hiya i was sleeved a few days before you. Ive been in a stall too, frustrating isnt it? Take a deep breath though, you just need to follow your surgeons plan. I am allowed a 1/4 cup at max per meal. So i always stop then even if i dont feel full, cos i dont wanna hurt whats healing. I am also measuring my waist line. I noticed today that while ive only lost 0.3kg i have lost 4 cms off my waist!!! This was a great motivator cos i know changes are happening to me Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

    Family totally against my surgery

You are likely to end up with excess skin no matter how you lose the weight. As for regretting it well you may, but you dont really know. From what ive read though not many regret it Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

    Calories?!?!?

Im 3 weeks out and eating between 400 and 500 calories a day. I drink between 1.5 and 2L a day. I was told to eat a max of a 1/4 cup of food per meal, not a calorie limit Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

8 days post op in pain

I was told by my surgeon a sudden increase in pain can be an indicator of a leak and to call him immediately. Given you have had no significant pain until today id call the surgeon to discuss this Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?

I definitely find that things like tuna or refried Beans fill me up wayyyyyy more than yogurt Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?

I had to calculate oz to grams. At the moment i can eat around 1/2 scrambled egg, 1/2 tin of tuna (maybe 1.5 oz?) Or around 2 oz of chobani yogurt with a scoop of Protein powder. But im only 3 weeks out haha Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

    MGB.. Reversible or not?!

Im not sure what the surgeon means by a sleeve being reversible? ?? They literally pull out a section of your stomach and throw it away Im wondering if you have the two procedures the wrong way round as i believe the MGB to be reversible and the sleeve to only be able to be modified to a bypass or similar

Is your uk plan different to most on here

I have noticed this too. My surgeon emphasises a balanced diet from the beginning with equal amounts of Protein, veg and complex carbs Im Australian

Puréed Stage: what are you eating?

Mostly I'm eating scrambled egg, tuna or laughing cow cheese. I have had some chilli that was pureed which wasn't bad. I also had summer porridge ( quick oats with greek yogurt and a little milk out in the fridge overnight. As for portions well I can barely get down 1/2 a scrambled egg Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  15. Oh wow I'm 2 weeks out and barely ate 1/2 of a scrambled egg for brekky. It's amazing how different it is for each person

    Swallow pills

I've been swallowing pills since day 2 after surgery. They were small ones at first but now I can take normal sized and big pills without issue at 2 weeks out Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk

    Water!

I don't know what Melba toast is exactly but a lot of crackers are bite and disolve, meaning they turn into mush in the mouth or shortly after so aren't a risk to the stomach. I suspect that's why they are fine Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  18. Im not sure when it feels normal but my right side continues to feel tender and ouchy where the muscles were cut through. My surgery was on the 6th Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
  19. It would need to be deemed medically necessary to meet 5hr medicare criteria for cover, which most private insurance uses to approve or deny surgery (as long as your policy covers it). It usually means a significant documented history of skin infections, sores etc Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

    Protein, Protein, Protein

I hope every surgeon has the goal of making sure you heal and don't have any complications post-op. A balanced diet is a great goal down the road, but right after surgery protein and fluids are critical --- even if it is hard, or you don't have an appetite, or don't like the taste, etc. One 11 oz protein shake spread out over three days and less than 8 oz of Fluid a day is not enough for anyone post-op. I can't imagine any surgeon advocating that diet as a good strategy for anyone. SMH Of course a single shake and that little Water is not enough, but to assume that everyone has benn told they must get 80g of protein a day etc is ridiculous. My surgeon focuses on good nutrition from day one, that includes all food groups and not a focus simply on one macro. My surgeon is highly skilled and respected where i live and id prefer to listen to him than those on forums in regards to my best interests post op Your response was so rude and almost childish. If you prefer to listen to him, then why join the forum? While you should heed what he says, his body hasn't been through what yours has. Also noone stated that what they said was law, just gave tips on how to approach getting in liquids and protein. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App I responded to the OP in the fashion they wrote the original post. While i agree most surgeons have not been through surgery it us just as damaging to say you should be getting x amount of protein per day. This amount is very dependent on the individual and there are risks to having too much protein in your diet

    Protein, Protein, Protein

It was insulting and suggested i have no idea , nor does my surgeon about my health and healing because he does not want me focusing on high Protein but instead on all nutrients Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

    Protein, Protein, Protein

My surgeon is highly skilled and respected where i live and id prefer to listen to him than those on forums in regards to my best interests post op of course you are! but this is an internet forum we are participating in, so it is only natural that we would discuss these things? At the end of the day I am going to listen to my team (I am paying them for their advice after all!) discuss with my peer group (my LOVELY friends here #1) and then sort out what is going to be best for me. there was more than one person on here on many threads advocating what I think are really dangerous practices - so, here we are discussing. it's good! Discussion is one thing. The OP basically berrated anyone who dared to not get the Protein that HER team recommends. Thats not discussion

    Protein, Protein, Protein

It is important to realise not everyones team has the same goals. My surgeon focuses on balance nutrition, Protein, veg, fruit snd grains NOT high protein. While i do aim for reasonable pritein in my diet it is not my sole focus like many here Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

I am post op 8 days. I had a FIVE WEEK pre op diet. It sucked. I got bouts of low blood sugar, almost fainting at work and feeling shit. I didnt cheat once and my liver was still large. Im lucky my surgeon went ahead. Please dont put yourself in more danger by ignoring their requirements Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
