    Pre-Op Tests

Hello - the only pre-op test I had was an endoscopy and it was easy......good luck!
  2. I hear ya, I am sure I would be thrilled with 150. The lowest I ever got on a diet was 157, so I definitely want to be below that.

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

This is fantastic, there are more June dates than I thought there would be. I had my date months ago, so I was waiting and waiting, I seen all the April buddies, then the May buddies and finally US (JUNE). This experience is going to be here before we know it, the time has just been flying by for me. What does everyone have to do as far as a pre-op diet and for how long? I have a 10 day pre-op diet that I start on May 29 and it's just low carb, high Protein, thank god NOT liquid!

My date is June 9th. I am new to this site, so what does adding someone as a friend do?

    Drainage catheter

I have not had my surgery yet, but I did ask my doc about this last week and he said 90% of his patients get theirs removed before they are discharged. If I am in that 10%, he would get me in within 5 days to have it removed.
  7. Since we all seem to be in the same weight range, let's talk goal weight. I know it's not supposed to be about numbers, it's about health, but let's be honest, we all have a number in mind. If you are comfortable sharing, what is your goal weight? I have been thinking about 130, does that seem realistic?

    Anyone else have an Endoscopy?

Hi there - I was given medication through an IV during the process and about 5 minutes after they quit administering the medication, I woke up, which was nice. I do not remember one thing from the process itself, but my throat was sore for about a week. Good Luck!
  9. Yeah, finally someone with my date!! I am scheduled for my bypass on June 9th. I've had my date for several months, so I watched all the April dates come and go, then May and now FINALLY June dates :-) I am 5'3" and currently at my highest weight, 228. I have my 5th appointment with my PCP tomorrow and then my 6th/last on June 1st. Then I just have nutrition class on May 29th and I'll be done with appointments. Good luck to you both, hope we can stay in touch throughout this process.

    My story

Hi Kerry, I have not had my surgery yet, but if you have just had "tastes" and are satisfied, I would say you are doing great. What country is the stone measurement from? I had to do a stone to pound conversion to learn that one stone was equivalent to 14 pounds. Good luck!
  11. Hello – I am new here so would like to introduce myself, give some history and ask a few questions. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I have taken prescription weight loss medications (two), used slim fast, participated in weight watchers, counted calories, pretty must everything you can think of. I have been successful losing weight on numerous occasions, but like many others cannot keep it off. The last time I dieted, I lost 50 pounds and gained back 71, which puts me at my highest weight ever – 228! The first of the year, I decided it was time to take some serious action. I have some minor medical conditions, but most importantly a family history of heart disease (my father passed away when I was 25, he was just 49) and diabetes and would like to be alive and healthy to raise my family. So, I started the process in January and am scheduled to have Roux-en-Y bypass on June 9th. I am ready for this; nervous, excited, anxious, happy, prepared, eager, and overjoyed all at the same time! I have done a ton of research and feel prepared, but would like to ask a couple questions. How many of you came home with your drain tube in? My doctor says about 90% of his patients get them taken out before they are discharged. What did you take besides Biotin and Ionic Silica for hair loss? This is what freaks me out most about the entire surgery! I have a fair amount of thick hair and I fear losing it. I look forward to meeting new people and sharing our successes and obstacles!
