@@Tomojac, I struggle as well. My surgeon would like me to get in 70 grams and I don't even come close. I was drinking premier Protein after I had surgery and was doing okay. Then I ended up back in the hospital last month for six days and when I got out I just cant seem to find a shake that I like. I have tried at least 10, or so it seems.
  2. Does anyone else feel like they brush their teeth constantly? I was perfectly fine brushing my teeth twice a day before surgery, now i feel like I need to brush them every time I eat because of the blah taste I get in my mouth. It's not bad breath, it's not dry, it just blah and hard to explain.
  3. Congratulations - I am 8 weeks post opt and still do not get hungry, I have to make myself eat.
  4. My go to right now is mashed potatoes and gravy and refried beans, both of which you can add powdered protein.

    Birth Control

I have been on Depo Provera for years, did not have to discontinue when I had surgery in June and the bonus is that I do not have periods! Would not change a thing.
  6. Hang in there, it does truly get better. I would say is was a good six weeks before I had any energy what so ever. I struggle getting my protien in and I know that is part of the reason for me.

Welcome and congrats on your loss this far. I too have unintentionally overrated a couple times and it's not pleasant! Some time you just don't have time to take a half hour to eat. How are you doing on your protien intake? I am 8 weeks out and struggle getting protien in every single day....I have never met my goal!

    Hello all! Newbie!

Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you as far as not liking most of the stuff we can have and meats upsetting my stomach. Mashed potato and gravy have been my go to for the past three weeks. I am not saying that its the best choice, but when that is all that you can tolerate, go with it. Some people have not had the pure joy of not being able to eat certain things, so just hang in there.

    Tomorrow is the big day!

Congrats and good luck! As someone else said there will be days you may ask yourself what you have done, but it's worth it! I had a minor set back, but I am about 8 weeks post op and hoping to move to stage five on Monday. I can honestly say I am just starting to feel like myself again!
  10. The ONLY things I can eat that much of is yogurt.

    RNY done!

@@tonwinton, how are you getting your Protein in? I am almost two months post-op and still struggle, so any info you are willing to share would be helpful.

    7/13/15 rny gastric done!

Congratulations on your new life! If I had to guess I would say 30 minutes, since that is the amount of time they recommend you stop drinking before you eat.
  13. Wow, those are some crazy good numbers. I can spend an hour on both the treadmill and elliptical and only burn 1200 total. Please let me in on your secrets and keep up the good work!
  14. @@sparksrn, I just had about 10-12 soybeans for lunch, that about what I can eat :-) The ONLY thing I can eat in a bit larger quantity is yogurt, I can eat a whole container, but it takes me about a half hour. Anything else, 1/4C max.
  15. @@ChattyChatterton - I am only 7 weeks out, but just had this same experience with scrambled eggs. One day I had a half of scrambled egg and it tasted amazing, I was pretty excited. The next day I ate two bites and my mouth started watering like I was going to throw up (thank god, I never did). I don't understand either, but now I don't want to try it again!
  16. @@sparksrn, I am in the same exact boat! I am about six week post-op and have never met both goals in one day. So, I don't have the answer but I look at it like this - if I don't stay hydrated I will end up back in the hospital and if I don't get in my Protein the worst that could happen is my hair will fall out :-) Of course I don't want either but I certainly don't want to be back in the hospital.

    Manic Monday.....

Ugh, that is what I was drinking, guess I'll have to revisit it :-)

    Food Serving Size

While I was briefly on stage 4 (had to be moved back to 3 because of an abscess), I could only eat 1/4C. I was never really given any measurements and was able to eat a whole yogurt, so I tried 1/2C Soup and was miserable! There is nothing worse than the feeling of food in your throat and you really cant do anything about it.

    Drain

Mine only took 2-3 days, but I did cover it when I showered until my post-op apt and then they said I did not need to cover it.

@@mmrennau, what are you drinking for protein? I am one month post and struggle every single day! Honestly, I don't think I have hit my protein goal once. I have hit fluid a couple times, but not consistently.
  21. Today, I am one month postop and down 32.6 pounds!! It has been an interesting month to say the least, still getting better each day. I know it takes time (I am not a very patient person...lol), but I still cannot get all of my Fluid and Protein in each day, it seems like I can do one or the other. Weight loss is bound to slow down, but if I could repeat this month two more times I would be near my goal weight :-)
  22. @@mmrennau, that does seen like a lot. My "goal" was 4 ounces, but I just had to make sure Protein did not make me nauseous before I was released. Sounds like everything else went well for you.
  23. Spiceyfrog

My progress so far. 45Lbs down!

Where are you at now that you are about four months out, if you don't mind me asking. I am just three weeks post-op, so looking forward to being where you are!!

    Manic Monday.....

Good Luck! Just remember it truly does get better each and every day!
