What drug can I take for headache
Spiceyfrog replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told only Tylenol after surgery. -
I agree with all of the posters, as I was also told that we are to never have carbination again. I stopped drinking pop about three months before my surgery and really do not miss it, I believe it was more of a habit than anything. If you truly "need" caffiene (getting headaches), I would try tea, hot or cold.

@@Karlnjax, you are doing great. I am about three months post-op and I the most I can eat is 1/2C.

Bypass RNY, Phase one! Liquid diet?
Spiceyfrog replied to RGraham87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@RGraham87, I would not stock your cabinets with anything at this point. As others mentioned, your taste buds will change after your surgery. I made the mistake of doing that and have about 5-6 containers of Protein mix that I do not touch. I have tried many and settled on AMP chocolate from GNC and a close second would be Pure Protein chocolate which I purchased at Meijer. Sadly, you will not "eat" anything the first two weeks, you will only drink.....and then you drink and drink and drink as the process continues. Good Luck! -
Milk in protein gives me gas
Spiceyfrog replied to ANewMe83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just recently switched to Fairlife fat free (this week) and have not had any trouble at all AND it had more Protein than skim milk - double bonus! -
How much could I potentially lose 2 months Post Op - I have a BMI of 38
Spiceyfrog replied to betrthnever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@betrthnever, of course EVERYONE is different but my BMI was very close to yours and I just went back and looked at my ticker and at 2 months, I had lost 45 pounds. Good Luck! -
Hello - I just recently went to a support group meeting and there was a huge discussion on eggs and I learned that my surgeons office is in the process of moving eggs to stage 6. I had the same problem - the first time I had a half of scrambled egg with cheese it was like being in heaven and the very next day I had another one and it made me sick. I am now on stage 6, but afraid to try another egg :-)

How often do you see your surgeon/office visit post-op?
Spiceyfrog replied to Erron1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it's, 10 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and then yearly. -
Day 3 Post Op: Am I Normal?
Spiceyfrog replied to Kelsey Marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told Protein was a "goal" (for the first month) and Water was a must! My surgeon said to drink a minimum of 4 ounces per hour. I adheared to it pretty well because I had a fear of getting dehydrated and ending up back in the hospital. In the next couple weeks continue trying protein(s) and you will find one you like. I went through about six before I settled on a brand called AMP that I like. -
Post op diet Clueless
Spiceyfrog replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was given Protein in the hospital, I actually had to prove that I could tolerate it before I was released. So, as long as you are on liquids and getting in 64 ounces per days, you're doing fine. But, like everyone else said, unbelievable that you were not given more detail on what you should and more importantly should not be eating at this stage. -
Yuck. Sick of shakes!
Spiceyfrog replied to Be_pretty_epic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that it is impossible to get all of the required Protein from just food. I mean physically impossible to eat what you need to eat then drink what you need to drink in the 16 hours you have to do it each day. Like you, I have tried at least 6 different brands and I prefer Quest and AMP, both found at GNC. Good luck! -
Drinking from a straw
Spiceyfrog replied to ANewMe83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a HUGE straw drinker, so the last time I met with my surgeon (about 8 weeks post op), I asked and he said not quite yet. I was thrilled to know that I will be able to use a straw again, in the very near future! -

I had my surgery last Tuesday and I feel like I made a huge mistake.
Spiceyfrog replied to Naomi H's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess would be that your liver was too large and they did not have enough room to work once they got in there. Did you have to do the 10-day liver reduction diet prior to surgery? Did you not see the surgeon before you were discharged, so you could have asked? My surgeon stopped in every single day to see how I was going. -
Not hungry ever, always thisty
Spiceyfrog replied to loo loo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take advantage of not being hungry. I am 10 weeks post op and still do not get hungry, but my doctor said it will come soon enough. I do not exercise much outside, but while I workout inside, I constantly sip, seriously a sip every couple minutes and that seems to work for me right now. Keep up the good work and exercise! -
Hello, I am 10 weeks post op and have lost 49.6 pounds, which is approximately half of my total weight loss goal. I know things will slow down extremely in the very near future, but what was your weight loss goal and how long did it take to obtain it?

3 week post Op Question
Spiceyfrog replied to Gumpgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Around week three I developed a severe pain in my left shoulder and left side, when I would breath in. Long story short, I had a leak in my pouch. If the pain is when you breath in, I would have it checked out immediately. -

8 weeks post-op - hair loss already?

First hard day (Mentally)
Spiceyfrog replied to Jasmine Smith's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have not experienced dumping either. My husband had french fries the other day and I ate one (just one). I was satisified and like Djmohr said, things are not as good as they used to be. -

This may come across as narcissistic
Spiceyfrog replied to jennylew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have made them aware of what you were having done, then they SHOULD have asked how you were doing. A co-worker of mine was on medical leave shortly before me and when she returned our big boss had flowers delivered to her desk. When I returned, nothing. That's just how some people are and we can't let it get us down.
