Gastric bypass vs sleeve
Spiceyfrog replied to shay_shay209's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose the bypass for two primary reasons. 1. - I had read about waaaaay too many people have a sleeve to bypass revision and only wanted to do this once. 2. - It was my understanding that with the sleeve you were still able to tolerate sweets and with the bypass they were a lot less tolerated. I know myself when it comes to sweets and I am never satisfied with one of anything! Therefore, I did not want to put myself in a position where I was "allowed" to have sweets because I knew I would not be in control of the situation. Since my surgery in June, I have attempted sweets/sugar twice and dumped both times! -
Dropped waist 8 sizes already
Spiceyfrog replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's an amazing feeling isn't it - keep up the amazing work! A couple years ago I had lost a bunch of weight, so I had a lot of old clothes to go through as well. I am now in the smallest size I own, so will be purchasing new very soon :-) -
Love that dress! Keep up the good work!

Keep up the Amazing work!! -
My nutritionist said no skin for the first six months, so I have been terrified to even try it.

Child's portion card?
Spiceyfrog replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got one as well, but cant eat close to a child's meal, so always order soup or mashed potatoes. -
As everyone has said, there is nothing wrong with the fact that you are at McDonald's. The problem was that, as you identified, you ate too fast and too much. If my kids want McDonald's, I order a fruit & yogurt parfait or a baby cone (if we just stop for ice cream) and have done fine on both of them. If I were craving egg, I would not have hesitated to order what you ordered, just ate half!

Daily Caloric Intake?
Spiceyfrog replied to Amylou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just over three months post and average between 500-600 calories per day. -
Hello, Has anyone ever dumped on fish? This was my third dumping experience, so I know it was dumping and it was not fun. The first two I narrowed down to sugar, so this one blew my mind because I have been so conscious of reading labels, etc. That day I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, 1/2C Cottage cheese for a snack, 1/2C Potato Soup for lunch and then the Fish for dinner. I am not too fond of fish to begin with, so this was the first time I have eaten it and it happened immediately after I had just two bites. Thoughts?

What kind of diet were you on before surgery?
Spiceyfrog replied to RGraham87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a 10 day low fat, high protein diet and yes, the purpose was to shrink my liver so they had enough room to work. -
I don't see what other people see, but I'm trying (before & after pictures)
Spiceyfrog replied to wicked's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, you look great! I would have guessed you lost ALOT more than 65, so keep up the good work!! -
Best decision of my life, sorry you are encountering difficulties! If you elaborate perhaps we could offer some advice.

At the very beginning of my journey
Spiceyfrog replied to Louky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and congratulations on making the decision to take control of your health! I had my rny on June 9th, am down 60 pounds and do not have one single regret! The primary reason I would recommend the rny, is seeing all of the revisions on this site, so, so many people get the sleeve and years later have an rny and who wants to go through any type of surgical procedure twice? Best of luck, whichever path you take!! -
Not feeling the urge..
Spiceyfrog replied to kradtke5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As the previous poster stated, I was going every couple hours due to iv fluids, but once I got off the iv, I only went a few times per day. -
It's typically immediate, but I've ready some research that states it could be up to 8 hours. I have dumped three times and it's always been immediate!

My protein goal is 50, I just started meeting it. I am 3 months post op and average 300-400 calories per day.
-
For me it would be, but everyone is different. Also, at the last support group meeting I attended, the nurse mentioned that my surgeons office has decided that they are moving eggs to stage 6. I had one bad experience with scrambled eggs, so I have not tried them again.

That was the third time I had ate that soup because we all know how long one single can lasts :-), so I ruled out the soup. It was a Gorton's lemon pepper grilled fillet, that was baked and I ate two bites before the symptoms began. I did not even look at the fat content because it only had about 80 calories, so I would assume the fat was very low. I had immediate diarrhea and then vomited within the hour. I felt the exact same as the two times I dumped with sugar.

@@Marie Car, this will pass. I am three months post op and do not have these feelings anymore. As your diet stages progress and you are allowed to have more "food", you will learn that it's not all it's cracked up to be. There are ALOT and I mean ALOT of foods that I truly enjoyed in the past and I do not anymore. I can take a bite or two and think, what the heck, this is not what I rememeber and once you discover that, you could care less if you have it again. Hang it there, it will get better!

I dont have crazy drrams, but I do sleep 200% better and I know there is a rhyme or reason for dreams and your sleep level.

Not a mistake after all

Sorry to hear about your setback, but it sounds like you were able to get some answers and are on the road to recovery now. It will only get better every day! -
When will I stop losing weight?
Spiceyfrog replied to zackly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am commenting just to follow. I am not at that point yet, but often wonder the same thing. It seems as though it would be impossible to add food to my day at this point, but maybe it will be easier at a later time. -
I have alse ate popcorn a couple times at the theater and it was amazing! Of course I could only eat about a cup, but it satisified the craving.

Not Feeling Full @ 4 days post op...Normal?
Spiceyfrog replied to LoggedOutForGood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 4 days post op on was still on liquids, but had a hard time getting in the recommended amount of liquid. Do you feel hungry, or just not full? -
I don't even want to talk about this....lol. I am three months out and just had to buy a 36B, well, you know how fun it is to shop for that size....it's not, but what do you do!
