OK, I bought a really pretty blouse last summer that was a 1x. It didn't fit when I got home. I never got around to taking it back. Yesterday as I was getting ready for church, I found the blouse in the back of my closet with the tags on it. I thought, well, I've lost 16 lbs so maybe it will fit. I put it on and it fit perfectly! I was so happy.

Hi all, asking God's Blessings on all of you being banded this coming week. Susan
-
Noahsmom: I am praying for you. I am sorry you took away the negatives. I saw the negatives but I also saw all the positives. I was banded on June 6th. I had very little pain. Did not even take any of the pain med they sent me home with. I had no gas pains to speak of. The only problem I had and it wasn't really a problem was diarrhea. You think it's gas, but guess what, it's more than gas. You're gonna be home anyway. My belly itches and I've lost 16lbs. I think you are experiencing buyers remorse so to speak. I think you are making the right choice by being banded. We all support you and have your back kiddo. Contact me anytime you want. I'll be happy to talk to you. God's Blessings

Today I celebrated my two week anniversary also. I saw my doc for my postop check and he was pleased with my progress. I'm keeping up with my Protein which I really believes help stave off the hunger pangs. I am eating mostly soft foods. Tonight however, I had a small piece of steak. I chewed it really well and ate very slowly. It really did taste good! I also love the new whey protein bullets. I bought the orange flavored and like to fix it like a hi-ball. On the rocks with a little bit of Water mixed with it. I go for my first fill in 4 weeks. I am returning to work on Monday. My doc told me yesterday that he does not consider me healed for 6 weeks. He said not to do anything that causes an increase in intrabdominal pressure. It's been great hearing everyone's stories and I am so thankful to God that everyone is doing well. Good luck to each of you who have not had your surgery yet. I am praying for each of you. God's Blessings, Susan

Debbie from Maryland
livn4jesus replied to gypsyscribe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Debbie, I was banded on June 6th at GBMC. I too had a wonderful experience. Really no pain, I've lost 15lbs so far. Had my 2 week check up yesterday and the doctor scheduled me for a fill in 4 weeks. Good luck. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Have you been to the Jazzy Junes board. It's a lot of fun for people who have or are being banded in June. God's Blessings, Susan -
Wow, I wish someone had told me before my surgery about sharting. Here's what happened to me. I was sound asleep, and I woke up to something ooozing from my butt. Yep, it was mushy poop. It was all over the bed. I was crying and my husband was laughing so hard he actually fell on the floor. Mine too also happened around 3 am. Must be something about the hour.

MSNika3: O my gosh, you are sooooo funny. I laughed until my port felt like it was gonna pop. I wish I could be around you on a daily basis girlfriend.

Port location. Can we choose?
livn4jesus replied to Tate2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting: My port is on my right side just under my waist line. I was banded on June 6th and so far I don't even know it's there. Maybe it depends on the handedness of the doctor as to which side the port ends up on. -
Hey, I checked out the spread sheet and it looks really great. I sent my info, except for my waist, I figure it'll go down as my weight and BMI goes down. Thanks again for doing this.

I am on real food and starving
livn4jesus replied to juliasmile427's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Julia, I was banded on June 6th and the past 2 days I feel like I could eat a cow if it was cooked up for me. I've lost 15 lbs since the surgery but I'm concerned because I'm starting to feel out of control. I feel no restriction at all. I hope my surgeon is responsive to this tomorrow since I'm only 2 weeks out. I can't image having to go another 3-4 weeks. I feel your pain -
Hi TMKEY: I live in Kingsville,MD Northeastern Baltimore County. Where are you having your surgery done? You'll love this board. The people are fantastic

Hi JMK: I have not had any emotional ups or downs since my surgery on the 6th of June. Now it might be because I am 55 and post menapausal so my emotions don't fluctuate. I am happy and relieved that I finally have some contro over my hunger and eating.

Welcome Sonja, you'll love this site. I was just banded on June 6th and also live in Maryland. I live in Kingsville, MD. I am 55, a nurse, mother to 5, grandmother to 5. Good Luck

I was just banded on June 6th. I am 55 and have lived a lifetime of fighting the losing battle of trying to lose and maintain my weight. At 45 I developed Type 2 Diabetes. One more time struggling to get weight off for it to only keep adding on. Finally a year ago, I decided to do research on Lap Band surgery and here I am. One week Post-op and 13 pounds down. I wish at your age I could have done something like this. I so go for it and don't listen to what others have to say about it. I went straight to WLS surgeon and did not discuss it with my endocrinologist or my PCP. I just went for it. You'll be in my prayers, good luck and take care of yourself now, don't wait until you're 55.

O boy, surgery on Monday? Will be keeping you in my prayers that you heal fast. My first info session was in October and just had my surgery on June 6th. I was first scheduled for April 11th but it got canceled and I couldn't fit it in until this month. But I'll tell ya, I think it's good to have time to digest this whole thing and begin the divorcing process from food. By the time I had my surgery I had made peace with giving up my addiction to food. Take Care

Wasa, Congrats on your new sleeve, I hope things go well for you? O to have a doc tell me I'm to thin!!! But to thin can be as bad as to big. You take of yourself, you're in my prayers. Susan

why are people such HATERS!!!!???
livn4jesus replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, this thread has been amazing to read! Here's what I've learned at 55 years of age. I SPEAK UP to people now like I've never done before. I'm not rude or nasty but I'll tell you I didn't ask for your opinion. I totally skipped my skinny little PCP, did a lot of reasearch, sole searching, got my husband on board, contacted the surgeon, did all the necessary testing and one week before my surgery on June 6th went to my PCP for my History and Physical, Blood Work, & EKG. She was so shocked when she came in the room. She wanted to engage me in a conversation about her thoughts and I cut her off and said, you know, it's not up for discussion, I'm here for you to do what I need done, I've researched this and is 5 days, I'm having the procedure done. Thanks for your concern. She was taken back abit and said, OK, lets get you ready for your big day. We did, I've had my surgery, so far everything has gone great, I've lost 10 lbs since the 6th of June and life is good. I wish I could have spoken my mind a lot earlier in life. You are all beautiful intelligent people. Carpe diem (I hope I spelled that right). -
Wife get surgery 6/9
livn4jesus replied to Dustydog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pnutsmom: I am soooooo sorry you did not have your surgery. That is really a bummer. If you diet how will he know in three months if your liver is small enough to do the surgery? I'd hate to have the same thing happen again. -

Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions :confused2:you may have. I am 55, married, my husband and I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Good Luck to you

Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?
livn4jesus replied to Apples2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, it's my turn to introduce myself. I am 55, so Cathy I'm right on your heels. My husband and I have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. We've been happily married for a long time. I too have been overweight my whole life. I have been a nurse for the past 32 years. For the past 2 years I have been a Hospice Nurse. About 10 years ago I developed type 2 diabetes which we all know is weight related. I have continued to gain weight and I do not want to end up having amputations, heart disease, kidney failure, or going blind in the next 10-15 years. So, I got banded on June 6th which would have been my 87 year old mothers 67th wedding aniversary if my dad were still alive. My mother unlike her daughter has no health problems. She and my husband and my sister in law accompanied me to the hospital. 13 years ago, I had a very bad experience with anesthesia which almost cost me my life. So, I was a little nervous about the whole anesthesia thing until I met the anesthesiologist who was sent from God. I had a great experience with my surgery, anesthesia, and so far my post op recovery. It's been great reading about everyone and I'm glad to meet you all. Did I tell you I am from Baltimore, MD? I have 2 jack russell terrorist that I adore who are right by my side as I type. Everyday, I've been praying over the surgeries for that day. God's Blessings, Susan -
Dear Brandymom: If you had surgery just to look better, then you had it for the wrong reasons. I'm actually surprised someone would do surgery on you for that reason. I did mine for health reasons, diabetes type 2 so I can feel better. I really don't care what I look like, nothing looks as good as life with my beautiful children and grandchildren. Now, I am old enough to be your mother and perhaps if I was only 32, I may feel differently. There is a scripture in the bible that says something like, beauty is fleeting, but the love of God is never ending. Plus, I bet you look great. Take Care and love yourself

TXDiva: Thanks for writing me. Please don't worry about the shoulder pain. I did not have any with my surgery. I've had a moderate amt of gas but nothing to bad. I've used a lot of Gas-X strips which I think has helped me alot. I've had no nausea to speak of. It's really been uneventful thus far. Just try to relax. God's Blessings, Susan

Hi TDSanders & Numgirl: congrats on your banding. I just got banded on June 6th. On June 7th my newest granddaughter was dedicated and my daughter had a huge party afterwards with a feast. Thankfully tho, I had no desire to eat anything since I was just 48 hrs. postop. God is good and has certainly kept me in his hands through all of this.

ch4life: get right back on the band wagon and forget about the past weekend. Move forward and don't look back. You'll be OK. Praying for you.
