Does Your Band Stop Your Hunger
livn4jesus replied to IndioGirl55's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have found the EAS advant edge chocolate drinks to be a life saver for me. If I am really hungry, I drink my "chocolate milk" which staves off the hunger for a long time. I have also noticed that when I eat the amt of protein I'm supposed to get that I don't get hungry between meals. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, low fat, low carb yogurt, my shakes, sf popsicles. I don't have the cravings I used to have. It's really strange but I love not feeling hungry all the time. I love going to partys or out to eat and I feel no need to eat the food. IT'S NOT IMPORTANT TO ME ANYMORE and I am loving it. I feel normal for the first time in 55 years. Ya Hoooo -
I agree with all of you, my band was the best decision I ever made. It is unbelievable to me how much better I feel with 30 lbs gone. I am sure i will feel even better when the next 30 lbs are gone also. People are always saying to me, wow, you've lost weight, you look really good. The one I like the most is, did you change your hair style? Then I say, no, I changed my eating style and I've lost 30 lbs. I have 20 lbs to go to be in onederland and I can't wait. Congrats to all the June bugs for a job well done. Susan

Yes, my Dr. did insert a needle in and there was no fluid to withdraw, it was empty. He put in 2 cc's, that was about a month ago now and I felt like I had pretty good restriction. The past 10 days tho I have been sick with an upper respiratory infection and coughing non-stop. Today, I feel completely unrestricted, I must have coughed all the fluid out. I must have a slow leak. So, I'll see what happens over the next week with my appetite and weight. I have a small band that I think he said only holds like 4 cc's or maybe he said 6 cc's I cant remember. I managed to get through a vacation and not gain weight. I didn't lose any either. Take care, and keep up the good work.

Carefirst - Blue Choice Maryland - Fills
livn4jesus replied to MarySJ's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have the same insurance and they are not covering my fills. I was told before my surgery in June that they were no longer covering fills. Please let me know if you get yours covered. -
Hey guys you are all doing really well with your weight loss. I just hit 30 lbs this past weekend. I've been having some issues with whether or not I have a leak in my port tubing. I get a fill, feel restricted for about 2 weeks and then overnight, nothing. If I knew I wasn't getting charged everytime I get a fill, I'd just go in every two weeks for one. But I think he is going to want to go in a look at the port tubing to see if it's leaking or maybe no longer attached to the port. You are all in my prayers. Susan

How are you doing? Did you get your first fill? I got mine and then had to go back after 10 days because I felt like my band was not restricted. When he took out the saline, there was nothing there. So, he put in another 2 cc's. It's been a week now and I am really restricted. Having a hard time eating anything. I'm not going back because I'm hoping it will help me stay on track and continue to lose weight.

Looking for Dr. in Baltimore ,Maryland.
livn4jesus replied to robinschlachman's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was banded by Dr. M on June 6th. You're right, he is a man of few words until you get to know him and yes he does have a good sense of humor once he gets to know you. And you gotta love the Shoes, they're to cute. I felt he did a great job with my surgery. I had no pain, no gas and Ive done really well so far. -
OK, I was banded on June 6th. I did really great, I lost 25 lbs within the first 6 weeks. I had my first fill on July 17. Since that time I have felt completely unrestricted. I gained a lb and a half. I saw my surgeon yesterday. He said that the 1.5 cc he had put in on the 17th was not there. So, he said I'm going to put in 2 cc. If you feel no restriction by Monday or Tuesday come back. I'll have to go in and see if your tubing has come off of the band. It's been 24 hrs. and I really feel restricted. The fluids are going down but slowly and with a little pain. So, now I'm wondering if I'm too tight?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
livn4jesus replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Greetings: My doc told me the band is meant to stay in forever. However, many people end up with some kind of a complication at some point making it a necessity to remove the band for a period of time with the option of putting it back in at some point. -
Greetings: I live in Kingsville, MD and was banded on June 6th by Dr. Moe at GBMC. Things have been perfect since the surgery. I do wish you luck. Email me if I can answer any questions for you. Susan

My Dr. told me he would not consider me healed until six weeks after the surgery. He said walking was good but that was it until six out. He said the first six weeks are for healing. The other more strenuous activity would come but he wanted me to heal first.

Greetings: It's so good to hear all of your stories, what a help this site has been for me. I lost 19 lbs lickety split after my surgery. Then a brick wall. For the past 3 weeks I haven't lost a lb. I haven't gained anything which I guess is good. I go for a fill next tuesday, the 22nd. I just found out that my Dr. only does fills every 6 months! Anyone ever heard of that? I'm worried about a six month lapse.

Dear Willbefine: Surrendering to God! It's a lot of hard work on our part. The first thing you have to do is to admit to God that your are POWERLESS to your food addiction. When you are feeling out of control, pray, read your bible, call a christian friend, get on this web site make yourself go for a walk. Phyllis is right, God want take us kicking and screaming. Have healthy things around that you can eat. It is a process and it doesn't happen overnight. I understand your pain, I also walk in your shoes with the same addiction-FOOD!

Dear Gonbhealthy: I drink the orange flavored protien. It's much better if you drink it over ice and I just started mixing it with wylers orange splash and it is quite nice. Good luck with your surgery

Checking In: Today I had a terrible experience. A hard candy slipped down my throat and I thought I was going to die. I have never had such bad pain before. I did not know what to do. I had no idea how long it would take for the candy to melt. Finally after, sweating profusely, slimming, burping, hiccupping, and thinking I might die things go desperate and I finally stuck my finger down my throat and up came that little bugger. I was wasted for about an hour afterwards. Please God, don't let that ever happen to me again!!!! A piece of advice, don't talk on the phone suck on hard candy at the same time, it can be deadly. Hugs, Susan

People never cease to amaze me. You just have to chalk it up to ignorance. She's uniformed and doesn't know she's uninformed. I can't wait to be 75 lbs lighter. Wow, what an accomplisment. Glad you vented here and trust us enough to share. Thank you, Susan

I lost something very important today
livn4jesus replied to MusicMan2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry about losing Pedro. What an incredibly cute little man. I had a dog that got hit by a car many many years ago and I still feel bad about it when I think about her getting hit and having to make the decision to put her down because of her injuries. My thoughts and prayers are with you and no you are not crazy, cry till you can't cry anymore. Hugs, Susan -
Greetings: I have lost 17 lbs and I am stalled also. My Dr. doesn't want me to do any exercise except walk until I am six weeks post-op. Can I just tell you all how much I HATE EXERCISE!!!! I'm really gonna have to figure this one out because I know it's important to do. I just can't figure out how to motivate myself. Also, I can't figure out how to change my weight on my little ticker thingy. Help would be most appreciated. God's Blessings to all the JAZZY JUNES. SUSAN

Wakiki: I am sorry to hear about your dad. I am a hospice nurse and yes, I'm quite sure he did wait for you to come before he went home to be with the Lord. I see people wait all the time for family members. As for your Dad's present wife she's going to do what she's going to do. Every Hospice has chaplains, and grief counselors on board and most have small chapels or prayer rooms. Please talk to either the chaplain, or counselor about having a memorial service in your father's memory. Invite whom ever you want. His wife can either come or not. It's her choice. There's nothing written anywhere saying your family cannot have a memorial service. Go for it! Your dad will be smiling down at you. Bunches of Prayers coming your way, Susan

When do they come out normally?
livn4jesus replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
starrgirrl: Thanks for the post. I just go my band on 6/6. I hope I get 4 years out of mine. Are you having it replaced? I will certainly keep an eye on my band so I can catch any complications sooner rather then later. You are in my prayers. Good Luck to you -

Hi Everyone: I have lost 16 lbs since my surgery on june 6th. But I have come to a screeching halt. I am using the daily plate and I am not eating more the 900 to 1000 calories/day. Not sure what's going on. Get my first fill Mid July. I am very pleased with my loss so far. Good luck to each of you. Susan
