Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi WVgirl: Welcome to the sight. My philosophy is, if you're losing weight then things are good. You're not gaining and you will always eat the way you are now. If you want to make sure you're eating like you should, count your calories and see what you are eating. Are you getting you 70-90 gms of protien per day? That was the most important aspect for me. With the protein, I feel full, without, I am hungry. Good Luck, Susan

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Orea: I'm praying that God will reveal himself and guide your husband to that very special job he has picked out for your DH. I know it's hard when it's happening to you, but God does have it under control. I'm glad you are recovering quickly. The weight will start to come off again, give your body time to readjust.

    Daily News!

Checking in on my Bandiversary and to wish Kathy Chats a very Happy Bithday today. I'm down 70 lbs and look forward to the next 30lbs. I had my upper endoscopy done last friday and am happy to report my stomach, esphogus and band all look good. He completely unfilled me and said we'd start over with the fills. I've done well this past week, actually lost a lb since it was unfilled. I am so happy that we have all had great success this past year. I want to thank each of you who have supported me throughout the year. I really love each of you and pray for you everyday. It's funny how you can not know someone personally but still love them as I do all of you. Now, a toast to all my fellow Junies, Here, Here

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi Mimi, glad to see you posting. If I had not had this board and support from everyone here, I dont know that I'd be as successful as I have been. Stay on the board and go get a fill. You deserve it. Hope things go well with your shoulder, I hope you don't have a rotator cuff injury, they can be hard to get healed.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello all you beautiful 50's and 60's, I think some of you hang out with us on this board. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers. This was such a random thing. In 11 months I have not had one minutes problem with this band. I could be the poster child with my lion turning into a purrrrrrrrrrrrrrring kitten. So, I am a little perplexed as to why. It still may turn out to be nothing or something minor. God is good, all the time. YVONNE: Welcome to the board. I hope you find the same support I have on this board. What a group of loving women. Katy: It's so good to see you posting again. Get plenty of rest and don't fret the weight right now.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Well, I went to the Drs. today and I am still having a severe burning sensation at the top of my stomach. He is sending me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder and has scheduled me for an upper endoscopy on may 29th. I am not fretting this because I have not had one minutes trouble in the past 11 months. It's in the Lord's hands so, I see what the tests show and then deal with it. Thanks for your support and continued prayers.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Weight loss is so individual. I think they say 1/2 to 1 lb/wk is a good goal to strive for. So, I would say you've done really good. You're losing around 10 lbs a month which is super good. The statistics say that lapband people usually lose 50-80% of their extra weight the first year and 100 percent by year 2. From what I've seen that holds pretty true.

Allie: Wow, 130 lbs in 11 months. I wish I could get as excited about exercising as you have become. I just can't wrap my head around it. I hate it with a passion and I wish I didn't or could make myself not hate it. Puppy is sooooooooooooo cute, good luck. What is the puppy's name?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello Fifties: Happy Mother's Day to everyone. Trish: Welcome. I am 56, 55 when I had my band placed last June and have lost close to 60 lbs. I am thrilled with that weight loss. I seem to have plateaued tho. Did I spell that right? Anyway, I am still happy with my band and the Dr. is pleased with my weight loss. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, how much you lose is very individual. Susan

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hello fifties and sixties: Welcome to all the new women and men if there are any. I was banded on June 5, 2008 and I have lost 60lbs. I have had no trouble with my band at all until 2 weeks ago and had to have 1 cc taken out of my 4 cc band. Started to feel better, went on vacation for 9 days had no issues and now since I've been home and back to work, I'm starting with the indigestion again. Go figure, I know it's the stress I'm under at work, so I'm trying to chill which is hard to do when you have dying people and their families in crisis. I gained 3 lbs while I was in Disney even with the unfill so I feel pretty good about that. This is the first time in 11 months that I have gained any weight. Oregon: So glad to see you posting and I was happy you clarified your comment about the band to say you were very happy for 2 years before you started with problems. No matter what the outcome is with my band, I consider it a success because I have had it in almost a year and it has helped me to get off the majority of my weight. I've thought about what I'd do if I had to have my band removed and I too would probably have the sleeve done. For me and some others this was the least agressive form of barriatric surgery and I really needed to do baby steps sooooooooooooo, if this fails it's off to the Drs.for a sleeve. Ok, enough rambling. I am really happy for you and I hope the hunger goes away real fast.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks Apples for crossing everything for me to be asymtomatic while in Florida. So far, so good. I'm thinking I just a little inflamation of the esophogus, cuz, I feel good. My one daughter and her daughter took me clothes shopping yesterday for all new clothes since nothing I have fits me anymore. I even bought 2 bathing suits :-) Can't tell you the last time I wore a bathing suit. Well, we're off to Florida at 8:30 am. I'll be back next Sunday. God's Blessings, Susan

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Flowers, I love the pic and you look marvelous! Saw my surgeon yesterday and he took about 1 cc out of my band to open it up a little. He put me on Carafate and omeprazole 20 mg 2x/day. I'm leaving for Florida on Sunday for Disney with my girls, my grand daughters and our husbands for a week. If I'm not feeling better when I get back he wants me to have a sonogram of my gallbladder to make sure I don't have a gallbladder problem. So, we'll see what happens. You all take care and I'll post when I return on May 6th. Blessings, Susan

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

My dear friends, yes, you found me out, I have been cheating you. :-) over at FB. I have been keeping up on all things great and small. I have also had a really bad time with a molar that had root canal in and then have to have it pulled. Ater that sucker got pulled, I can't tell you the last time I had such pain. For few days I just laid in bed with the good drugs untill I felt better. Now, today, I am not feeling good. I have just developed severe refux/indigestion and a pain under my right breast that goes around my waist into my back. I don't feel well. I'm wondering if it's gallbladder. Now, I am feeling nauseated. I'll call the surgeons office tomorrow. Gods Blessings, Susan

    Daily News!

Hello Junies: I didn't abandon the ship, I've just been so busy with work and have had several people all dying at the same time, families needing a lot of attention that I have been coming home from work and falling into bed. Everyone continues to do great. I am only5/3.5, used to be 5/4. So, I too am shrinking in height and width. I continue to lose weight but I have really slowed down. For the past few days I have not felt well. I have started having reflux, indigestion, and a really bad pain under my right breast and ribcage that radiates to my back. I've been trying to decide if it is gallbladder? I'm gonna call my surgeon tomorrow morning. I'm due to leave on Sunday for Florida with the grands for a week. I would hate to wait and then end up sick down there. On the other hand, I would hate to have to have something done now and risk not being able to go to Disney with the kids. It's in the Lords hands, so we'll see tomorrow. You all take care, I pray for you all each day. Susan

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Helene, We have an awsome God! I knew he would prevail and keep you safe. Welcome Back! The weight gain is more from swelling of the tissues in your abdomin that have been cut and sewed and the maneuvering of your various organs. That weight will come off in a few weeks or maybe even days. Keep coming back here for your support but as indiogirl says, you need to take care of yourself and heal first. I was frustrated trying to find you. I had remembered you saying who the Dr. was that was going to do the surgery. I actually did a lot of research on Australia and have now decided I really want to visit Australia some day. Seems like a really cool place. Hugs, Susan Powell

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

It would be great if they don't know about Hippa. I found the surgeon who did her surgery and I sent an email asking them to please get word to either her or her family and gave them my email address to pass along so someone can let me know how Helene faired with the surgery. Soooo, lets see what happens. If I dont get anything within a few days, I'll contact the surgeons office again. We're on hold at this point.
  23. Greetings All: Do you know of a lady who has a screen name of Katydid? Her real name is Helene. She lives in Western Australia and has had some horrible complications with her band. I think she said her new surgeon is Dr. Padovan or something like that. His office is in Waikiki. Katy visits a board on here very frequently that is a 50's board. She had surgery on Monday morning and we are all on pins and needles wanting to know if she is ok and how the surgery went. If anyone can help me find the Dr. or the hospital she might be in I'd like to contact the hospital to see if she is ok. Thank you from all her friends, Susan Powell, Baltimore, MD USA
