When did your surgery "kick in?"

I am so glad to hear that your loss kicked in at 6 months. I am 5 1/2 months and have lost a total of 57lbs since the day of surgery. I've lost 13 since my 3 month check up. I am so discouraged and depressed about this. I have continued to eat right and exercise. I am a post menopausal 51 year old woman who was HOPING to lose my 50% by my 6 month check up. This Friday I have that appointment and I will be at 42% of my excess weight. I find myself crying almost daily obsessing about reading this board and other boards looking for other people who have not done well so I can at least "explain" why this has happened. Please dont misunderstand - I am thankful for the loss just really stumped as to why its been so slow - especially the last 2 1/2 months. My daughter also had RNY and lost 120 lbs in the first 9 months. Happpy happppppy for her - was hoping I could have good results too. I am dreading my appointment on Friday because I dont want the surgeon or nutritionist to think I am not eating right or exercising. You see, I worry about silly things but I hope and pray that my weight loss will kick in like that SOON..... best of luck to you! Keep up the great work.
  2. Thanks, James. I only drink one Protein shake a day and I do count it in my overall calories for the day. Thanks for your reply.
  3. hello, I am 5 1/2 months out. Started at 270 on Surgery date. I've lost to 215. My 3 month check up was May 18 and I had lost 44 lbs then. So, in 2 1/2 months I've only lost 11 lbs. My doctor expects me to have lost a total of 68 lbs when I return on Aug 14th. I am 13 lbs away from that. I do Water aerobics 2x a week and go to the gym or walk or Richard Simmons light aerobics 1x a week. I am getting all my water and Protein and about 1000 - 1100 calories per day. I had RNY on 2/16 and was slow even the first few months. I am worried that no matter what I do, I am not going to lose much more weight which terrifies me. Any advice on how to jump start this is appreciated. I always eat protein first then good veggies. I will each a few of the baked lays occasionally but i always count that in my food calories for the day. I do eat fruit, almost daily but if I dont I have a horrible time going to the bathroom. Thanks in advance.

    Common Plateau at 4 months?

Thanks, James. I am already down to 1 shake a day - I will drink 2, if my Protein intake for the day is not where it should be. When you hit your plateau mid way through, how long did it last? Thanks!
  5. Hi everyone, I am 51 and struggling a little bit. I started at 270# on surgery date and am down to 220# today. My surgery was on 2/16/15 and I had RNY. I've had no complications and exercise 2-3 times a week. I get my protein and water in every day but my weight loss has been slow all along but extremely slow the last month - I've lost 6 lbs since May 20th. THATS IT! I am getting about 1000-1100 calories a day. Is the 4 month mark a common time for a serious plateau? how long does it typically last? I want to loose another 60-70 pounds but I am worried that I wont. Thanks for all your advice, reassurance and help!

    The scale is not moving!

jencooper we are twins! I am 4 weeks post RNY - lost 20 lbs by the 2nd week but nothing since and I am 4 weeks out as of yesterday. Its really frustrating. I just hope when the body releases the weight it releases 10 lbs at a time. How long does this "stall" typically last? Isnt this too soon to stall?
