Let's talk about EXERCISE!

My gazelle elliptical has been my best friend... Lol. I started using it before my surgery and use it all of time now. When I don't have time to go to the track or the weather is bad I head straight to my gazelle, that way I have no excuses for not exercising -

I used biotin and vitamins also, but I still thought I would never stop losing hair. It seemed to come out in huge amounts, but after I hit around 10 months out of surgery it seemed to slow and now a little over a year seems to have almost stopped and is regrowing. I do dry and straighten my hair regularly, but I use a heat protection spray and also biosilk occasionally.

I had mine out before my WLS and I haven't had any issues from it. My surgery was a year and 4 months ago and so far I haven't had any problems. Good luck!! -

What Protein shakes taste best?
rjackson1982 replied to rjackson1982's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't but I think the vitamin shoppe has the sample packs so you can try it without investing too much money. They had the Syntrax nectar samples so I tried several of them and found some that I really like, so now I'm going to go buy a large container of either the fuzzy navel or the pink grapefruit. -

Stalls are so frustrating. I'm a little over a year out and am stalled also. The things that I'm doing trying to get mine jump started are increasing my protein, working out longer, constantly using my fitness pal to monitor my nutrition. Hopefully this will help. Good luck

Thanks I haven't tried Cellucor. I may have to give that a try. You're right about the resealable cap. They were a big help to me especially those first few months after surgery. Even now after a year, it takes me a long time to drink stuff. I'd say over an hour to finish 8 ounces. -

Thats so good, I'm going to try some out. I'm so burnt out on chocolate, vanilla, etc. That sounds like a good change -

That's so funny I was just looking on the vitamin shoppe website at those wondering if they were good. Thanks -
I just wanted to mention that I also have diabetes and mine didn't get better after losing weight. My doctor ran some tests because she suspected that I was actually Type 1. Turns out that was the case, so no matter how much weight I lose. I will always be an insulin dependent diabetic. I would ask the doctor if its possible that you're actually type 1 instead of 2. To gain weight I would add nuts, milk, cheese, and maybe peanut butter to your diet occasionally. I wouldn't over do it on carbs because that might spike your sugar.

Hey everyone, I was wondering what does everyone consider the best protein shakes to be? I'm a little over a year out of RnY but I still have problems getting enough protein through food alone so I tend to use protein shakes on days when I'm not close to hitting the 90 grams my doctor recommends. I'm getting really burnt out on the ones that I've been using and would love some advice/ other options.

Putting on a few pounds - 2 months post RNY

I'm a little over a year out and am just now able to take in 1000-1200 calories a day. I was like you at that stage I did good to take in 700-800 calories a day. My nutritionist said shoot for 1000 calories a day, but to make sure I was taking in at least 90 grams of protein a day. Getting your protein first and a few carbs after that is best. I also found that if I didn't drink enough water I would tend to swell and hold fluid. Stalls are normal in some cases so try not to panic, when I hit them I track my calories and nutrition and try to tweak anywhere that I'm lacking. My fitness pal app has been a huge help to me. Good luck! -
I am a week out from my Bypass, I want to hear from you all, HONESTLY , do any of you regret doing this? I know how I feel BUT.....

I'm a year and a couple of months out and I can say honestly that its the best decision I've ever made for myself. After struggling since I was a kid with my weight, thyroid, type 1 diabetes I knew I had to do something. I'm very blessed in that I've not had any major complications. I've lost weight slowly and still have about another 20-25 lbs to go. The biggest thing that I've found is that you need to follow your doctors orders exactly. There's generally less complications when you stay on track and eat the right foods. I still have type 1 diabetes that is something that I'll always have, but I take less insulin and am just more healthy overall. -
I use women's one a day gummy vitamins. Right after surgery I used a more expensive bariatric vitamin, but after a couple of months I found out I could use regular gummies I just take 2 instead of one and so far they've worked great. Also much less expensive.
