I was told the same thing. I was banded on the 18th and my period has been off and on since then. They say the anesthesia messes it up.

I have Group Health insurance, so they wouldn't cover the surgery. Being that I am private pay things went very quickly. I had my first visit with Dr. Oh 02/08/08. I didn't have any hoops to jump through for my insurance, just all the pre-op testing for Dr Oh and the hospital. It wasn't too bad. Good luck. It'll be your time before you know it!

I have oly been weighed by my surgeon so far.

It's aweful isn't it. I can't wait until I have my band to help keep this addiction at bay. For the most part I try to eat healthy. I have kids and I know I need to be an example for them. It's when I am by myself that I have the hardest time. My thought is, no one will know.......well after I cheated the first thing I did was hop on here and fess up. I am so glad there is this huge support group to help us all through each phase. What a belssing!

That is so funny! I don't think smelling is cheating. LOL! My office is right next to a BK, so I smell it all day. I fessed up and told my hubby. He was very understand, thank goodness. I'm sooo glad that I wont be at work again until next Tuesday. I wont have to smell it all day. Good luck sticking to your diet!

You look wonderful! I can't wait for my journey to begin.....

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
rkilbury replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, clear sugar free liquids plus protiens shakes for two weeks prior to surgery. I'm on day 2 and it stinks. -
So, I have surgery 03/18/08. I went to a 3 hour class at thge hospital yesterday and now I am sooo freaking out. One of the things that was said is that there will be 7 little incisions. Now this class was for people getting lap band or gastric by-pass. Is is true that they have to make so many holes or did I just misunderstand? I'm also second guessing my decsion.........I am afraid that I wont be able to do it right and it wont work. Like every other "eating plan" I'll loose it to gain it back and then some.........I don't want to fail at this too.

Okay, so I will quit worrying about the incisions:redface:. Thanks for the encouragement. I start the clear liquids/protien phase tomorrow. I even made my sugr free Jello so I am ready to roll! This is just the beginning...... -

I hope all has gone well for you! I go for it two weeks from today. I am also in your area. I live in Covington and see Dr. Oh out of Federal Way. Keep us posted! -
So I am trying to get used to the Protein shakes. This is what I have been putting in the blender and having for lunch. For those for you that have been banded will this work when I am in the mushie and normal eating stages? This is what I put together: Protein powder ice cubes 1 Tbs Peanut Butter 1/2 cup frozen raspberries Water or non-dairy coffee creamer for a little liquid to help blend it Thanks, Rondi

Hi! My name is Rondi. As of last Friday I scheduled my surgery date. March 18th. Now it's time for all the tests and such. I am private pay. My insurance does not cover any weight loss surgeries so I'm on my own. Thank God for American Express! I don't know how much I will post, but be sure that I will be lurking around reading every else's posts. So far am learning a lot and I am very thankful that I found you all! Rondi - waiting to be banded

From what customer serive said to me it looks like the employer opted out of anything to do with weight loss option. But I did have them send a copy of the contract to me siI can go over it.
-
If your insurance contract states it does not cover the surgery, is there any chance getting it approved? I have just started the process with my GP so I have no idea what is ahead of me. I just know that there is no way that I can pay for this out of pocket. I already have doctor bills up the ying-yang because I have a special needs son. Is there any hope? Thanks, Rondi

I live in the Seattle area and have the Group Health Cooperative, Options plan. GP (my regular doctor) I know I'm gonna need a referal from her to get to the surgeons.
