Well like many of you I have been overweight most of my life. Since about 3rd grade I can remember gaining weight and using food for comfort. By age 10 I was in weight watchers. I have been on many diets and off many diets. About every decade I "really buckle down" and get serious and diet and exercise daily and get some major weight off but as time goes on it gradually comes back. Life has a way of resetting us.
After my mother passed away I decided it was time for me and paid for a Medically Supervised Weight "Management" program thought Kaiser. This program was Optifast. I had to pay for the program $4,500 + food (Optifast product). You were only allowed to stay on full product (Optifast) for three months and after that you had to add food back in and stay within a 1200 calorie range. Along with, you all know the drill... weekly meetings, weight ins, daily exercise, food diaries etc. I went from 320 to 186 (loss of 134 lbs) but I could not break that point. This took me about 1.5 years. I have felt all my life like I have been swimming up stream against a very strong current. So when the weight started to come back I am now at 235. I decide to seek more advance help and started the process for gastric bypass. Roux-EN-Y.
