Didn't follow 2 week liquid diet:(
Hauergirl replied to d0minicanmama1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our surgeon puts patients on a 1-2 week Optifast liquid diet before surgery. On my last appt on June 15, I went to book my surgery date. Receptionist asked how eager I was for surgery and said I could have operation on June 20. I asked "what about the 2 weeks of optifast dr just prescribed?" She said it wasn't that big a deal, that they'd rather fill the operating room up... I chose June 29th because I wanted my body to be in optimal shape when they operate. So I don't think you need to stress too much about what you have done while preop, you still have a few days to get that liver downsized. Good luck to you! ???? Sleep test on Friday the 20th ????
Hauergirl replied to glitterpockets's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I just did my sleep study last night! I took my own pillow. There was a fan in my room that I could use if I wanted. I don't think I slept much though. I was worried that I would pull the leads out. They didn't lol. The paste left on your head washes out easily and they suggested to use dish soap instead of shampoo. It worked great. I was also given a survey to fill out. It wasn't too bad. I came home and had a nap lol since I didn't get much sleep there. -

I am in the pre-op stage and doing all the pre-op testing. In the last few days I have been to my doctor's office and have had a sleep study. According to the scales at the Dr, it is 7lbs less than my scale at home. Went to the sleep lab (3 days after Dr appt. ) and their scale was 21lbs MORE than my Dr' s!!! The tech actually giggled and said "well Ya scales don't always read the same" but wow!!! Really ??? 21 lbs difference in 3 days? I expect differences of around 5 lbs give or take.... I know scales need to be calibrated regularly, but it really goes to show me and others that the number on the scale does not truly make a difference, when there is such a discrepancy between the professional scales. I'm going to focus focus focus on all the other non-scale ways that show my progress and victories! Thanks for letting me have a little rant today. I'm one more step closer to my surgery!

My hubby went to my orientation, he asked questions and is very supportive of me, not just with this, but with anything I need support with. He is my rock! We have had discussions about surgery for years. He patiently listened and waited until I finally made the decision for myself. He's with me all the way!

What was your past slob memory
Hauergirl replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have and recently I might add....made a bowl of icing or have eaten a tub of premade icing....eating the whole thing...ugh I am pre op and I will be so glad to stop those urges to eat like that anymore! I've made and eaten a whole pan of brownies, sometimes even the batter....and feel like a big slob after doing it. -

I was thinking about asking this question a couple of weeks ago. I've usually shied away from.multivitamins for this reason. I took a prenatal vitamin when pregnant with my first son and was nauseated the whole time. I thought it was just me. Good to know the tricks to try. I'm pre op. So I'm soaking up any info I can. Thanks.

@@anewme2015 thank you! I figure dwelling on the amount of time (8 months really isn't long in the grand scheme, and I've been contemplating wls for years) I'll be proactive. And having all the results for that first appointment is a great idea. I already see my PCP every 3 months so hopefully we'll get those tests done sooner rather than later. I also know that seeing the NUT won't hurt chances to be turned down but I'm also aware that almost 30 yrs of "dieting" hasn't worked either so I need the extra push of a permanent solution
-
I just had orientation at st joes thus week and thet said its about 8 to 9 months until assessment appointments are booked. They also saud that our family dr can requisition the tests except the bloodwork so it can help shorten the time. So while I wait for the "mail" I am going to book as much of the other testing, start seeing a NUT (my hubbys benefits cover one) and start some exercises. Hopefully the wait won't seem as long.

How many people kept Weight Loss Surgery a secret ?
Hauergirl replied to shorty54's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a very new newbie! I am going to my first orientation meeting next week with my hubby. I have only told him and my friend(that is six weeks post op)I think it's too early to say anything yet, as I'm just beginning the process and I'm wanting to keep it private. As I get further into the process I may change my mind but that's where I'm at right now. -
Interesting article about obesity, dieting and WLS
Hauergirl replied to NikkiDoc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like this article. Thank you for sharing. There was an article in our local paper today that a study was done saying that wls had a significant reduction in asthma patients. I'll have to see if I can find an online link to that article.
