stress and WLS or in other words when bad things happen
freelee replied to Christinamo7's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. He would want you to be focused on moving forward while preserving your precious memories of your time with him. You can only take small steps as your progress through your grief.....choose each step carefully and wisely. I am an only child helping my mom move from AL to IL to be near us. This is very hard too, and I have been struggling with food for the last two weeks here.....but I know I have to make smart choices for myself to be here for my mom. And I've done pretty well on the eating and exercise each day. Keep posting if you feel like you to release some stress. We are here for you. -
Has anyone got down to "normal" weight/BMI post gastric bypass?
freelee replied to Nymea's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my one year anniversary June 16th and have lost 134 pounds so far. My dr never gave me a goal weight, but I still have about 10 more lbs to go to hit the normal 23.5 Bli. Mine has been a pretty classis year for RNY. Weight loss, stalls, weight loss. I am so thankful and happy that I will be in the normal range again. Don't compare yourself to others, but, yes, it is possible. -
So happy you had a great time! Keeping up with a 4 yr old and 1 year old grandchild is so much more enjoyable and easier than before.....we re blessed!

Worst month of my life
freelee replied to annabreke84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So sorry for your losses. Take time for yourself now. Be the best you can be, and that can be part of their legacy. -
Have a great trip! I, too, started off at about your weight, and am between 5' - 5' 1" I will be 1 yr next week RNY. I have so far lost 130#, and want to loose another 20#. The benefits have been unbelievable and I am so blessed to be living this life now and to be able to relate and learn from people like you. Thanks so much for your comments, they were very encouraging as I look to the future.

I am 11 months out of RNY bypass and have done well. About 5 months ago my nut suggested PB2. I bought it, tasted it dry, and never opened it again. Yesterday, at work, someone on WW was talking about it and said you add two tbsp. to one tbsp. of water and mix! I ran home and read the fine print, and there it was! Mixed it up, tasted it, and very tolerable! I can substitute it for the real thing and lots less calories and fat!! Now my only problem will be finding ways to eat it without doing it just for an excuse to eat the carbs that might go with it! (carbs are still my nemesis). I know some will suggest apples (25 good carbs), but I need to stay away from the bread and pretzels..............anyone have suggestions on how to use this now that I've refound it? (not In smoothies, please). I'd love to know how others are using it? How is the chocolate version? Thanks, Freelee

My feet were the first place I noticed my weight loss right after RNY bypass. The very first! I went down to a normal width and one size to a 6 1/2 within a few weeks. At first I was like, "Really?" but now I love shoe shopping and clothes shopping after 11 months and 125 lbs!

I teach elementary and made sure my RNY bypass was scheduled the Monday after school was out in June. I had a pretty easy recovery, but definitely needed the time off. Maybe a two week winter break and taking a week at either end of that might be a better option for a healthy come back to the classroom. One week probably won't be enough for such a strenuous job. You and the kids will all benefit from a reschedule. I'm having the same thoughts about when I can schedule plastics. It can't be this summer, so I'm waiting until next summer.

Keep journaling every bite you put in your mouth! I am 10 months out from RNY and still log everything I eat. I, too, am more hungry than I thought I would be now and so this definitely helps. I find this is a critical time in my journey, and I don't want to blow it now! I still have weight I want to lose, so I keep barreling through this and have just started really putting more effort into my exercise (walking and slowly a little jogging). We can do this!

Wogging! A new Olympic event! I'm in. and congratulations on a great accomplishment.

How much after TT and other plastics?
freelee posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it varies GREATLY and depends on many factors, but can you share how much additional weight you lost after having any skin removal surgery after your original weight loss surgery? I've lost 120 lbs after RNY 10 months ago and am beginning to wonder about plastics. But I am 63 wonder if it is worth the risks of another elective surgery at this age. Afterall, I'm not shopping the bikini department anymore! TT, upper thighs and arms would be my plastics surgeries of choice. -
How much after TT and other plastics?
freelee replied to freelee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much, yes this helps a lot. People keep saying, "but you'll loose more when you have plastic surgery....but I didn't think this is the case. Glad also to hear the encouragement about surgery at my age. It should be about feeling younger, not the extra few pounds. Thanks again. -

Look! I can wear bright colors!

You look great! I know the feeling, I have 3 tops that have horizontal stripes........who would have thought! -
What is a pouch test? When do I need to do one? I am 10 months post RNY and am very happy with115 lbs lost, but of course it is starting to slow down a bit, and I find myself starting to feel (or is it "think?") hungry again. I want to loose another 30 lbs and don't want to "fall off the wagon" at this point. I am still so thankful for this surgery and the drs/staff/family that are supporting me!!!! Love my new life! I want these habits to STICK, and I know that means I have to continue to WORK the program. Just needed to hear from someone out there, I haven't been on in a while. Hope all of you are well.

How do you tell people....
freelee replied to lindseyp1019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do what you think is right. Before I had surgery I didn't tell many people what I was going to all the appts for, mainly because I was afraid I would back out or something would stop the process. After the surgery, I have told people. I even made an announcement at work when I lost 100 lbs. I agree, people need to be educated, and I'm amazed at how sincere the questions are that are asked. Yet, I do not mention it on social media. It is definitely a private decision, and one to be respected. You are not lying you answer people when asked how you are doing it, by replying "very low carb and very high Protein, lots of Water and exercise". Afterall, that is what we are doing. -
Finally! Plastics time! Tell me everything!

Sharing before and After pics finally
freelee replied to Djmohr's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So great to see your progress. I am learning so much from you as I go along this journey. Thank you and congratulations. -
So many positives from my surgery. My outlook on life, energy, and overall happiness and relationships are better. I just went for my 6 month checkup and my blood work has come back better than I ever imagined it would! Seriously, it hasn't been this good so many years. I am so thankful. Plus, I was sitting in an assembly last week and realized I could sit and cross my legs, forgot where I was and kept crossing one then the other! Had to tell my friend to look at what I could do after many years! Then we had the office party this weekend (where I had a great time as I sipped Water and had no food, I might add!) and when it came time to play LCR I sat at the table, noticed some were sharing chairs, so I said, "Hey someone can share my chair"! I couldn't have said that a couple of months ago. AND in less than 7 months, I am down 90 lbs! So yes, I am happy.......I am much more healthy day by day.........I have met amazingly supportive people on this site.........and I am thankful!

We're from H'ville, but living in IL for a long time. Still happy, but really miss home (which Alabama will always be).

There will be many stalls. But as the others have said, it's your body catching up with your body's new normal. I just hit my six month mark with an 80+ weightloss. Looking at it from here, It doesn't make the stalls look that bad. They seem to average out, some weeks fast, some slower. We're cheering for you. Keep up the good work.
