    April bypass buddies.

Praying for you! You'll do great!
  3. Hi, I'm pre-op (surgery scheduled for April 28th) and have been on a pre-pre-op diet , (Glucerna shakes for Breakfast and lunch, with a small meal for dinner). I've noticed over the last week or so, that my sense of smell seems much more sensitive. Much like when I was pregnant except I'm not really nauseated by the smells, I just notice them much more. Has anyone else experienced this pre-op? I'm just wondering if it will be even more pronounced post-op.

Good luck, best wishes for a successful safe procedure tomorrow. Be sure and let us know how you're doing afterward!
  7. @@mspal, I'm sorry I don't really have any diet advice for you, I would just encourage you to get back with your nutritionist and see if they have any other suggestions for tweeking your diet that might help things move along. I am a type 2 insulin dependent diabetic and am on my pre-op diet also. They have me drinking a Glucerna Advance shake for Breakfast, one for lunch and then a low carb meal for dinner. No Snacks unless my blood sugar drops (and it usually does mid morning, so I have a cheese stick and apple or something similar). I've lost about 5 lbs a week doing this for a couple of weeks. The only thing I see that is very different between our diets is the WonderSlim cake at bedtime. Do you think this might be causing a problem?

    Fearing the Hunger Monster

Well, don't be too impressed I'm doing it on the instructions of my NUT. The surgeon wants me to loose 10 more lbs before surgery. I cut way back on sodas a few years ago when a cardiologist told me that carbonated drinks are hard on your system. Good luck to you. It's not easy!

    Fearing the Hunger Monster

I am on what I call my pre, pre-op diet. I have a Glucerna shake for Breakfast, a Glucerna shake for lunch, and a small sensible meal for dinner (4 oz Protein, 2 starches, 1 fruit, 2 vegs). I will follow that plan for another week, then start the pre-op diet for 2 weeks. What I've been doing when I feel hungry between meals is drink Water. :/ Not very exciting I know, but effective. In the evening when I want something sweet, I've been drinking water with some crystal light. It helps curb that sweet craving and fills me up some.

Hi! My date is set for April 28th. Started out at 332, down to 322 now and working on 10 more pounds before surgery. Really ready to get this done!

    Got My Date Today!

Congrats to you too! I'm a little scared too, but more excited. Looking forward the next part of this process.
  17. Thanks everyone. I just got home from having the heart catheterization and everything was fine, no blockages! I'm cleared for surgery! Now to set a date and begin the next chapter in my life!!
  18. Hi everyone, I'm new to this board and haven't posted before, but I got some discouraging news yesterday and need some insight. I'm in the process of completing pre-op requirements and testing, so I went to see the cardiologist yesterday for the results of my stress test (required by surgeon for cardiac clearance for surgery) and found out that they don't like the look of my heart under stress. So now everything is on hold pending a heart catheterization (sp?) and possible need for a stent. I haven't had any outward symptoms of a blockage or heart problems. I totally expected this to be a breeze! Has anyone gone through this and had to have a stent before wls? If you have, how long did it delay your surgery? I'm really in a funk because this was the very last thing I had to get done before scheduling my surgery. Everything else, including insurance approval has been done.
  19. They didn't comment on my EKG, so I don't think they saw anything unusual on that.
  20. Thank you! I appreciate any prayers anyone wants to say on my behalf! I am thankful that any potential problem will hopefully be caught now and not cause a bigger problem later. *Sigh* I will be patient.
