Does anyone know of a good place to get fills in Lincolnshire? I currently go to the Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. Not only is that over an hour's drive, but it's £270 ($500). Anywhere more convenient/cheaper? Thanks!
-
Yesterday, I had a fill. It seemed to go well, and the floro indicated everything was normal. The odd thing is... Last night, I was kept awake by odd, gurgling noises within my stomach. Most Perculiar. I can drink fluids with no problems, and I feel fine - will these odd noises disappear, or will I be forever watching cable TV at three in the morning? (as unpleasant as it sounds).

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
Pianoman replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just a couple of updated pics for you... P.S. Eficka - Phwoar! Blimey! -
I'm coming up to the two year mark, and I've lost a fair amount of weight so far (I've just added my pics to the before and after thread). However, can people of more than two years banded tell me what weight loss I might expect from now on (if any). Thanks for your time!

I expect I'm gonna be in the same boat, Jack.

It's 23 months since my banding, so I thought I'd post some progress pics. -
Biggest mistake you've made SINCE banding?
Pianoman replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a great thread... I've made three big mistakes... 1) Choc 2) o 3) late I would tell anyone (especially in the UK where candy is sweeter), the band doesn't work with sugary food. (thankfully, I don't indulge these days) -
Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
Pianoman replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've notice I have started to cross my legs again now I'm a size 38 waist (down from a 50). (I've no idea what dress size I am). -
That's strange - I've been banded not much more than a year, and I can tolerate a slice of thin 'n' crispy pizza without too much trouble (of an evening). Maybe I could use a fill?
-
It's a shame we can't all have an afternoon nap to "reset" our bands... Maybe I should suggest it to my boss... "I need a mid-afternoon nap to ensure good weight loss". Not sure he'd buy it, to be honest.
-
I have the same problem, Kat. If only I had the same restriction in the evening as in the morning. I'm okay until about 7, maybe 7.30 at night, then it's "hello pizza!" (if I'm not strict with myself)

What do you say when you get THAT question??
Pianoman replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Try one of the following replies... a) It's something new they're adding to pizza... The weight's just falling off me! Diet and exercise. Granted, option is slightly less believable. -
Why does my nose run when I am full?
Pianoman replied to Irish Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to know the answer to this, too... My nose never used to run when I was full, but it does now - is it just a build-up of mucus that would normally enter the stomach area, but is trapped? -
Wow! You look incredible!!! If that doesn't inspire the rest of this forum (including me), then nothing will! Well done, you!:grouphug:

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??
Pianoman replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've suffered from quite dramatic hair-loss since I was banded a year ago! I was very fond of my thick, curly locks and they seemed to vanish overnight. (see attached) :heh: -
Well, not exactly, but I'm at a weight I haven't seen since the age of sixteen. Okay, I was a chubby kid, so I'm not at my ideal weight, but, it almost makes me feel sixteen again, but without the acne. (and without the hair, but you can't win 'em all). This evening, I may wear my old "Def Leppard" T-shirt and watch Dallas.

True, I don't mind my bald noggin - it stops me having terrible haircuts.
-
I did self-pay, and I have to say, I haven't regretted it once. Ultimately, what you save on food bills more than pays for it.

It has now been a year since I got my band. I didn't really get restriction until christmas of last year, but since then, I've lost just over 120lbs. I still have around 80lbs to go, and I'm wondering if I'll manage that. Does anyone here have two years experience with the band? If so, what was your weight loss during that second year? Thanks for your time/expert information! :huggie:

Weight Loss in the 2nd year of banding
Pianoman replied to Pianoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Again, thanks for the info. Looks like I'm gonna have to be patient. Although, I might get a fill, and see if that helps. -
Weight Loss in the 2nd year of banding
Pianoman replied to Pianoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have enjoyed a good rate of weight loss, but I'm concerned that it will be short-lived. I don't really consider myself to be large anymore, and in fact, with a BMI of 34, I wouldn't qualify for the op. but, still, it would be nice to get to a scientifically-determined "healthy" weight. -
You look gorgeous, Maria... But then you did before the op!
-
Okay, I'll be one of the growing number of thirty-somethings on this thread. I'm 37, and I've currently lost 90lbs since August last year, with around 80 to go. It's coming-off at around 2lbs a week now, but I'm trying to bump that up with exercise. Best of luck to all those thirty-something bandsters who remember being just old enough to see "Footloose" at the cinema. :biggrin1: (I was also jealous of my older brother who got to see Porky's 'cause he'd just turned 18):cry

Yes, a 392lb chef with a nipple ring is as unusual in the UK as it is Stateside. All the people featured in the program either had a lapband or failed to qualify (which was quite heartbreaking, on occasion).

I saw "supersize surgery" at it's original time in England... It's more an advert for the featured hospital than enything else. (they did my op, though, and I'm not complaining). SPOILERS AHEAD... (you have been warned) I don't want to give the game away (although I am), but don't root for the black lady on this program, her lapband op was a bit of a failure, and at the end of the series, they re-performed her op for free. More of a success story is the short, rotund chef who also had the operation on supersize surgery. One memorable scene is where he was stripped to the waist revealing a rather portly physique - nothing wrong with that of course, but he also sported a nipple ring(!) It is unusual for a man this size to adorn such an enhancement. Maybe I'm opening a can of worms, there.
