Hi Sleevers! My name is Michelle, I'm sleeved as of March 17, 2015 And I've not been able to find any kind of support groups over here on the Kitsap Peninsula (Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, Belfair, etc) so I figured I would start a topic and maybe start arranging / hosting a support group for those of us over here. This is mainly a military area, and support is really important, which is why I want to do this. So if you're over here and are interested in joining a new support group, and this is brand new as I said I will be newly sleeved, then feel free to reply or message me if you're interested. Thanks and good luck everyone!

I'm Michelle, 44 years young, mother of 2 wonderful young men, 20 & 13, wife to an amazingly supportive husband and all around fire-cracker! I was sleeved on March 18th, 2015 and never regretted one moment of it like some do in the beginning. I've met friends since and we even decided to start our own Facebook group where we can just be ourselves, be motivated, inspired and educated as well. It's for both post & pre-op You're more welcome to share this to let others know also. https://www.facebook.com/groups/allthingsbariatric/ -
When to start working out...
Michelle Rynsai replied to Michelle Rynsai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's what I want to start doing again AV but when is a good time to start? Like I said, Wed I will be 4 weeks post op... Ooops, I forgot to answer. My surgeon allowed full cardio one week post-op and weightlifting one month post-op. You should always follow your surgeon's directives, of course. Keep in mind that you are still recovering and your caloric intake is likely low, so definitely do not overdo it at the gym. Start off slow with reasonable workout lengths and build up over the upcoming months. It's very important to stay hydrated when working out because it's likely harder for you to take in liquids also. Best of luck to you! Awesome! Thanks AV! I was up walking around the same day I had the surgery and haven't stopped lol I walk about 35-45 mins each morning and I'm getting ready to hit my final stage with food, right now I'm intaking about 500 calories a day, they want me on 850 a day for my next so I know I will be able to do more. Once I have my 1 month post op appt next Monday I'm hoping she's going to clear me to start doing more. -
I'm just about 4 weeks post op (as of this coming Wed 4/15/15) and I've been walking about 35-40 mins each morning. I have my 1 month follow up appt on Mon 4/20 but I was wondering, when is a good time to start working out, meaning doing more than just walking? And also, with only being able to take in about 500 calories a day still (I'm sure my dr will want me to increase that a little after my appt Mon) what are the best forms of exercise that you found the best results from? Thanks in advance!

Michelle Rynsai replied to Michelle Rynsai's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Monday means new week and new #'s... Down a total of 23 lbs Inches, I'm down: 1.5 in my chest 5 in my waist 5 in my hips 2 in my thighs (1 each) 2 in my biceps (1 each) 5 in my calves (2.5 each) That's a total of 20.5 inches gone!!! (Not lost, cause I have no intention of finding it again...) ???? -
Hi Everyone, My name is Michelle. I'm a mother of 2 wonderful young men (at the time I'm writing this, they're 20 & 13). I'm a remarried widow, to a man that makes my soul sing, my heart soar and my dreams come true each day that I wake up and see him next to me. I'm of Italian / Greek decent, and my entire life was based around food. I'm not an emotional eater, but there was always food around based on emotions, for example, lots of food for weddings, funerals, graduations, celebrations, birthdays, good days, bad days, etc. A few years ago I looked into getting banded but my insurance wouldn't cover it. I felt completely defeated, between being rejected for surgery, yo-yo diet plans, and everything that goes along with it. Then, last year (2014) I decided to look into it again since my insurance company finally changed, and I noticed procedures did too. The sleeve caught my eye immediately and I researched it for quite some time before meeting with my dr and making the choice to move forward. And now, finally, on March 18, 2015 I'm getting the Gastric Sleeve procedure done and couldn't be happier to finally leave this old me behind and break out of this jail cell and walk in the sun of life again a free woman.

New Life Ahead... =)

I went back and forth with it mentally for weeks, talked to my husband and finally decided to do it, and I'd do it all over again if I had to choose again. -

I actually "came out" to all of my family and friends, as well as everyone that knows me on Facebook, and it was actually such a huge weight lifted off me when I did because I don't like feeling like I'm lying or keeping a secret, especially when it's something so life changing to me. Everyone has been so supportive and loving, so I'm so happy I did it. -

Thank you so much Annie! You know, to be honest, I followed everything to a "T" with what my doctor told me as well as with the pre-op diet. I was sure to get up the day of my surgery and move around, walked a few laps around the nurse's station and have been active each day since. I'm very in tune with my body and listen to it more so now when it comes do putting anything in my stomach. Even though I'm still on a liquid diet til Wednesday, I track EVERYTHING! A little something I also started as of the day of my surgery, I bought a nice journal and each night when I get into bed as my husband is watching TV, I log my day. I enter any activity, food / liquid intake, things I experienced that day, and whether it was a good or bad day for me, that way I can look back on it and see how far I progressed. Inside the cover I put my starting weight, and all my measurements and a small monthly goal I want to hit, than once a month I will be updating that as well as my goal. I hope this helped and good luck with your surgery, you're going to do great! -

Great job! I'm still on liquids, so it's a protein shake in the morning, yogurt for lunch and another shake for dinner with lots of water throughout the day. -

I can't believe everything is so smooth for me. I've been reading how others are dealing with pain, vomiting, cold, no energy, etc. I've not dealt with any of that. I started walking the day I had surgery and have been walking more each day since. This morning I got a wonderful 30 minute walk in and have over 4,000 steps on my fitbit so far for today. All before 9am LOL -

I over did it this morning with trying to do a 30 minute walk at once... I was ghost white my husband said. -
I made biscuits with sausage gravy with homefries & onions for breakfast this morning, one of my favorites and yeah, no desire to have any of it. Had to have my husband come in and taste it to make sure it was ok... he and my boys enjoyed it.

Any Washington State Sleevers?
Michelle Rynsai replied to eyoung's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad you had a good experience there, I'm very pleased with all the care and services I got at NWWLS. They we're wonderful to my husband and children, keeping them posted all along the way and letting them stay with me past visiting hours. The night nurse knew I couldn't sleep cause I'd never spent a night without my husband, and kept coming into my room to see if I needed anything or wanted to talk. That's service I consider above & beyond. -

Michelle Rynsai replied to eyoung's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started my journey with PSSC but ended up going to NWWLS because the people at PSSC we're a bit rude for my liking. I love the choice I made with NWWLS and would recommend them to anyone. I hope things go well for you Susie. -
