  1. I'm glad you all are getting the great results. I have an appointment tomorrow with my surgeon, and we'll see what's going on. I need to go back to the shakes and get my butt into the gym more! Trying to make the most of this and keeping positive energy & thoughts! Good luck everyone!
  2. Hopefully there are other people who are having the same problem as I am. I was 205 lbs, and the pre-op diet got me down to 190 lbs. I had my surgery 03/09/15 and I'm currently 175 lbs. How can this be? I'm not losing anymore, and I'm trying to workout with a super busy work schedule & mommy schedule with 2 kids. (So I don't workout regularly) I don't eat as much, but I'm still able to eat whatever I want. I feel like my sleeve was the worse/ costly decision I've made.
  3. @Xocheekzvsg I had BM problems in the very beginning, and still not able to get my full amount of Protein w/shakes or my daily 64 oz of Water. I spoke with my surgeon and with the lack of Fiber, he recommended me to buy the Fiber Gummies. It really seem to help out with the BM issues, and they are also good to have for the family too! Proud that your getting your protein intake higher, and it's going to be a work in progress to build it up to the diet plan. I just made my 1 month mark and I definitely need all the support & advice from everyone who've gone, going, or planning to take this VSG journey. Everyone on hear seems to be very supportive & helpful.

I must be the slowest loser in the group. I thought I did great in the beginning, losing 10lbs in one week, and that's all I've loss since the surgery. I'm still having a hard time getting those shakes down, and I've been eating items I shouldn't be eating. Now I'm back at work and I realized I skipped my meals today working a 14 hour shift no breaks... Wait! I actually drank my breakfast shake as my lunch shake & had 4 saltine crackers... Still not following the diet plan today. I started soft foods before my 6th week, and I'm sure everyone nutritionist has them starting phases at different times. I'm so proud of everyone and their amazing progress. I hope I can join you all soon with the great weight loss results!

megan kolar I had my surgery the same day & I have only loss 9-10 lbs. I'm getting really discourage, but I can't stand the protein shakes at all! I've been eating more food then I'm expecting , and I'm wondering why am I not losing the weight. Is anyone else feeling the same way as I am?
  6. @@MrsSugarbabe I actually purchased the Orange Cream Protein mix as well & the taste is much better then the Vanilla. I started to mix 4oz of OJ with the vanilla Protein Shake to minus out the other flavor. It's been ok... I have been eating some regular food. Sad to say I've still...only loss 10lbs since my surgery on 03.09.15. I need to be better, but it's so hard!!!!

Madmax68 I'm having the same issue , but I did lower my protein intake. I just a purchased this Asian yogurt at Costco called Tarte (normally can be bought at Whole Foods) the protein is 12g per serving, super creamy, light, and it doesn't have the sour tartness of Greek yogurt. I can't stand the shakes anymore!
  10. Hi all! I had my surgery on Monday 03.09.15 & it also included corrective surgery for Hiatal Hernia too. Released on Wednesday as well & the pain is really not that bad. First 2 days were the worse & nausea both days. I knew the morphine was making me nauseas so I asked for them to remove on day 2. I was very hopeful that this would help me get my health & life back on track for my family and myself. 5 days post op and I have read many different blogs with success stories and definitely true hard times. My doctor has informed me that the 1st year is the "honeymoon phase"- No matter what you eat, you will still lose weight, but the 2nd year should be the true test. I just found out the night before my surgery one of my fellow colleagues had a gastric sleeve surgery 2012, and she was only able to lose 75lbs. I remember rooming with her for a week for a work conference that same year, and she wasn't eating properly at all. She was definitely eating In & Out animal style Burgers 2-3 times for dinner that week. This is what my fear is... That I have gone through this whole major decision, and I may just slowly creep back to my old ways! I'm hoping that I'm not the only one with this fear & I hope I can be great support to anyone on here and vice versa! Good luck to all!

Had my sleeve surgery on Monday: 03/09 & definitely I was super nervous and anxious about this whole decision and procedure. Pre Op: I was lucky... I was only out in a liquid diet for 3 days before my surgery. Day 1: I have the worse collapsing/ rolling veins! I was told that the doctor prefers to draw blood the morning of the surgery to insure that the patient is not pregnant. Drawing blood and trying to put an IV was the worse! I'm bruised up all over my arms. After surgery I couldn't keep my eyes open or complete a sentence. I was able to walk for a moment, use the restroom, and the nurse informed me that I only pressed the morphine pump 2 times. I wanted to sleep all day and no lights on in my room. I had the worse nausea Zofran through my IV didn't help, and I figured out that the morphine was making me nauseas. The only thing that helped with the nausea was a shot of Phenergan. I wasn't informed about the no liquids for 24hrs after the surgery (until the morning of), the Heparin shots every 12 hrs, drawing blood every 12 hrs, and the worse cotton mouth! Day 2: Still in pain, nauseas as ever, getting a lot of walking done to try to move the gas out, and barely able to get my 15ml of fluids in. Just wanted to sleep, and some reason refusing assistance for he nurses. ???? Day 3: Not as much pain as I thought I would be in; nurses realized I wasn't going to use my morphine after looking at the counts of me pressing the button... The removed it for me. Tiny bit of nausea, but got my hourly walks in, and excited about going home to my kids & husband! Day 4: Very little pain, no pain meds in stock at 6 pharmacies around my house (told the wait would be 2 days), and I decided to walk around Ikea for a couple of hours to insure no blood clots. I've realized I hate the vanilla Protein shake mix! Very gassy though... Trying to get all the medications in without heartburn/ gas issues (the chewable Vitamins are super sweet & definitely not to my liking). Day 5: Today seems to be going well. I did an hour of walking and I switched to Orange Cream Protein Shake for my Breakfast protein intake, and I think I'm going to try to mix the unflavored Protein Powder with my chicken broth for later today. I need to figure a better way to get my 64 oz of Water in per day without pain. This may seems weird, but I'm really scared of returning back to my old habits and gaining my weight back. It may not help to watch 600lbs Life... There's a young man who got the sleeve but has gained all his weight back after 1 year!

Hi! My name is Elle & I was sleeved this Monday on 03/09/15 & definitely the first 2 days were the worse! I'm definitely dying to eat a cracker or something with substance! I can't stand the protein shakes at all! Hope you are recovering well.

    3 days post op

The doctor explained that walking and working on your breathing technique will help dissipate the air that's trapped inside. Somehow our body will absorb the air inside, and some of the air will be released by passing gas/ burping. I just got sleeved on 03/09/15 & the first 2 days were definitely my worse! Good luck with you on your journey!

    Who Are You?

Hi my name is Elle. I'm 35 yrs old, mother of 2 beautiful children: daughter just turned 5 & a son who just turned 2, and I've been married a little over 6 yrs. I've been with the same global cosmetic brand for almost 14 yrs, and I'm so happy that I made this decision to have the gastric sleeve procedure. I have been battling my weight since the age of 9 yrs old, and I have done all the diets and work out fads. I remember doing Sweating to the Oldies in elementary! I'm 5'4 and my highest weight 286. I honestly kept the weight off for quite sometime, but life happens... I work all the time, skip meals regularly, and I started to feel guilty when I would try to sneak out for a workout in the morning before work & not utilizing that time with my children/ husband. I finally made the decision to have the gastric sleeve procedure done & my husband was definitely against it at first. After many conversations; he excepted the decision I made. My surgery was on Monday 03/09/15, and the first 2 days were the worse! 24 hrs of nothing in the system after the surgery & then the nasty liquid for the x-rays of my stomach. My doctor informed me that my stomach was not the normal "J" shape & it took much longer with larger incisions to size down my stomach. Has anyone else had this issue? I am so relieved to find a forum where people can reach out to each other for support!
  15. I am so disgusted with the vanilla cake batter and orange cream Protein shakes! I did purchase the Protein Powder without any flavor to added to everything. I hate to waste the shakes powders I purchased, but I honestly can't stand the taste of them anymore!???? I mixed the non flavored protein powder with a warm cup of chicken broth & it was pretty good! My dietician said I should be able to sprinkle it over all my dishes and this will help with my protein intake. Is anyone having a hard time getting in 64 oz of Water?
