  1. I swear I can feel my band also, but my Dr. says I shouldn't hmmm.... My port has rotated while I have lost weight, my fill/un-fills take forever for the doctors to find the top of my port.

    Food allergies

I have a terrible shell fish and fish allergy. I had a horrible reaction a few weeks ago due the food I ate was touched by something that had touched fish/shellfish (I think). I took my benadryl, but my pouch was full because I just finished eating and I don't think the benadryl was able to absorb like it should have. I ended up in the ER. Has anyone else had this problem...and what did they do?

    Food allergies

I will have to definalty look for Benedrylnow. I do carry an epi-pen. Getting 2 hives didn't seem to warrant using it in the restaurant, it wasn't until we were driving down the road that it really started to hit me:( Thank you for the info:)

    How am I doing?

Thank you sooo much Stephanie... I do need support and you absolutly right, I am having problems asking for help. Lately, I just feel like this is just another attempt and I failed to lose weight. I have another 80 lbs to go and I can't seem to get below the terrible 220 on the scale. I start to do really well then I sabatoge myself with making bad choices. I am not sure where to go from here. My nuturionist recommends reading weight loss books - so I guess that is what I need to do:( Thank you for listening:)

    Madison area bandsters

Hi Harvest- I was also banded by the UW Dec 2007. The Madison support group is big, but they do split off into groups (which I like). They meet every 2nd Monday at the UW clinic on the east side of Madison.

Lost 80 pounds in under 6 months. Loving my band!

Shinyhappymommy you really are an inspiration...thank you for staring this post. I struggle on and off with what I eat. Do you have any suggestion to what you may eat in a day? for some reason my brain has been programed over the years of being on WW and other diets to need a menu for the day.... Thx
  10. I have completely lost motivation the last month - my summer has been crazy already:( and the scale isn't moving any longer... Any motivating tips from my December lap banders????

    on the fence

Missmaven- I am also 33 years old at started at the same weight, are you my long lost twin:) I had my LB surgery Dec 12, 2007. I felt the same way you did, but getting the band won out because I didn't like who I had become. My current weight is 226 - I am happier, heathier, and actually want to put on a pair of shorts this summer:) Good luck in you decision making - I think you will find the answer within.

    Whats going on?

I had this same issue after having 4 wines one night!!! I BP'd once and gave up on eating - try and get your fluids in, I ended up sipping all day long and was really misreable:( I learned my lesson-one drink is pleanty on occassion!!!
  13. I have BCBS of Michigan and I also had to come up with 5 years of history. But mine could be from weight loss programs also. Over the past 5 years I had tried Curves, WW, LA Weight lose and number of other ones!!! It made me cry after I wrote them all down:( So, with that said you should see if you plan is the same or is it just records from your physician? Good luck!!!

Post op problems-- adults only please

I agree that is weird to send you home with out peeing. I had to spend the night because I couldn't pee and ended up with a catherder also - I thought it would be painful, but I couldn't feel a thing (sorry). My doctor told me this usually doesn't happen to woman!! Good luck:)

    Afraid to get first fill

Cerrin - You will get there too:) I was soooo impatent also. I am glad to hear someone else has over 7 mm in there band - it seems like we are in the majority? Oooo, no numbing stuff!!! My doctor keeps missing my port and so I can't imagine not being numb:)

    Afraid to get first fill

I was also banded on Dec 12:) Band buddies:) I just had my 3rd fill yesterday. I have a total of 7.5 cc in a 10cc band. The first 2 I had no restrictions:( The 3rd OMG-have a lot of restrictions today - which is what I was waiting for. As far as the pain - there wasn't any!!! It took 1 minute in and filled. Good luck, sounds like you are doing really well without the fills:)

What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?

My first fill was 3cc and my second was also 3cc in a 10cc AP band. My doctor did say that was protocol for the AP band. My 3rd fill will be in 2 weeks and that will also be 3cc (hopefully). I have barely and restrictions. By the way don't let an intern try and fill you...my second fill the doctor asked if I would mind if the intern tried and I said sure because that is how they learn. She missed and kept tring for a minute!!! Then the doctor took over and got it:) I am fearfully for the same thing happening at my 3rd fill:O

    Frustrated

Thank you for the words of encouragment...I am really having a harder time than I thought with the adjustment of having being banded. I am really happy I did it, but I guess I have a lot of learning to do.

    Frustrated

Hi - I feel your frustration- however, I have had a second fill and can still eat anything:( I don't think I was so focused on food as I am after having been banded.... I don't get it!!
  23. I also have a 10cc band and had my first fill on Monday. The doc put in 3cc and I feel nothing. It doesn't help I am PMSing and want to eat everthing in sight:(

    BCBS of Michigan

I live in Wisconsin and my husbands insurance is BCBS of MI - strange I know. When I got all my info from them in Oct 2007 they still required you to do 1 year of physian sup. diet or other ones like Weight Watcher/LA Weight loss. Dumn luck I actually had tried LA for the last year before going into wanting lap band The one bad thing about BBCB is that they do not give a pre-approval, so you pretty much go into surgery only on faith that they will pay:( So, if I were you I would call the help number on the back of your card and have them send you a letter stating everything you need to do before surgery-that really helped me.

    Incision questions???

I was also banded on the 12th. I do not have any sterile strips though, it is just the glue on top and internally I have stiches. Also, I wonder why you have 7 cuts - I only have 5? 4 are small 1/2 inch long and 1 is about 3 inches and that is where my port is located. All of them look bruised and gross, but the doc told me today it looks fine-even the one that is bleeding a little bit.
