  1. I'm nervous, excited, so many emotions! I'm 25, married, and have two little girls that are 4 and 2 1/2 months old. This will be my first surgery ever, I've never been put under for anything so It will be an experience! This has been a very private event for me so having others who are going through the same thing, at the same time would be awesome. I'm ready to do work! ????????

Surgery date March 16th, who's with me? ????

So glad ur doing so well! I'm experiencing the same with diarrhea although not as severe as it sounds for you, bless ur heart! I think it's because we are on liquids, so liquid in liquid out for now! Lol When I was researching about it "Imodium" came up quite a bit with other posters on different sites, but I've never heard of it before or what it does. Maybe that could work?

Surgery date March 16th, who's with me? ????

Doing good here, I'm losing about a pound a day too! 18.1lbs down since surgery. I dropped some pounds right after surgery and then had one day where I lost 2lbs in a day, but the 1lb loss has been pretty steady so far. I am really sucking at getting my protein in, but liquids are good. I think I'll have an easier time once I can use food to meet goals instead of these protein waters. I am so over this liquid diet lol...but it has been a great reset for cravings! I look at other VSGers on Instagram to get ideas for low carb meals and I just want to lick my phone screen lol ugh well get there!
  5. I understand the struggle and desperation to find something that will "just work"! May I ask how much weight do you have to lose? Have you "yo-yo'd" up and down in weight frequently in the past? Lap band requirements that I have seen are a bit more forgiving when it comes to BMI...I think the minimum is 30 but you have to have other co-morbidities...usually you can qualify for most WLS procedures with BMI 40 and above stand alone. Like the previous poster said, it does come with its own set of complications, as does any procedure. You just have to weigh the pros and cons with everything. However with that being said your current BMI still would not meet insurance requirements, are you considering self pay?

    Women Only!

Oh my goodness a month later?!? ???? have you talked to your doctor about this, do they have any recommendations or reasons? :/
  7. This is just my opinion...if it's something that you want then go for it....however if my BMI was that low I would try other options first. whether you have surgery or start healthy eating habits, it is all a huge lifestyle change, especially WLS. they both come with their own pros, cons, and sacrifices. Most people that I know who have had it have tried all other options and failed for years prior to deciding to have surgery. I know if eating healthier and working out the way that many do worked for me, I wouldn't have gone this route. Doing this will not change the fact that you'll have to make healthier choices just because you can eat so little to be satisfied. Instead of working out, eating healthier, and then deciding to have a a sweet or burger in moderation isn't so easy post surgery. And don't get me started on the awkwardness that comes with going out to eat and family get togethers. Once it's done, it's done and you will have to commit to everything it entails. I don't know your struggle or your reasons for considering WLS, but if it's something you want, just research as much as you can that way you are fully prepared . this surgery has had such a positive impact on so many people, but it comes with its challenges just like everything else. Best of luck with whatever you decide ❤️

I was also thinking the anti-clotting medicine had something to do with it, but didn't know if I was reaching! Glad I'm not the only one though

    Women Only!

This is exactly what happened to me. I haven't had a period that heavy since my teens. And I'm on the pill too. My next period was completely normal for me though, so it seemed like a one-time thing due to the stress to the body after surgery. I'm so relieved to hear that! Thank you!

    Women Only!

TMI but I've been wondering :/ I got my period the day after my surgery, my period has always been light, medium for three days and will then go back to light and finish within 5 days of starting. This time my period is a whole other beast! I have been bleeding very heavily, not soaking per hour, but it is noticeably different, today is day 7 and I'm still bleeding...not as heavy but it's there ????....is this just how things are now until I lose all the weight or is it like a one time thing?
  11. Why not pre-make your own meal and take it with you? just like at a restaurant...that way you can spend time with your family without being miserable in the face of temptation. Just a thought, if you're not ready don't beat urself up over it there will be many others im sure!
  12. I was wondering how you were doing! Glad to hear from you, and yes I know what you mean, this liquid diet is beyond torture, but I guess I'd rather have this than a leak. I have to admit I chewed a Protein Bar and then spit it out lol ugh I know so desperate but I did! At first I thought the diarrhea was dumping but I really think it's just because we are on liquids, I have to believe it will go away with time... I wouldn't worry so much about the protein now, with the limited options we are given its very hard to fulfill protein requirements. I mean of course try but don't feel like a failure of u can't! I think not getting dehydrated and atleast getting liquids down is the number one goal during this liquid stage! Soon we'll be on full liquids and we'll have more variety for protein. I am feeling pretty great to be honest, am I missing food, you bet! Lol I'm not craving bad food, I keep looking through other VSG-ers profiles on Instagram to get some food ideas and even a lettuce wrap thing is making me drool haha but I feel back to my normal self, liquids are going down just fine and gas is minimal! I think we're gonna make it lol
  13. Don't be afraid of protein out of fear of gaining wait, the rules are there for a reason. Hit Water and protein goals, limit carbs and stay away as much as you can from sugar. Step away from the scale a bit and concentrate on consuming what your body needs. It will pay off maybe get a little more exercise in? you are on day 10, you have to be okay with the scale not moving everyday, because losing everyday is just not a realistic goal for our bodies (as much as I wish it was) Keep the end goal in mind and stay with it! ❤️

    March 2015 Sleevers

Hey everyone! I was sleeved 3/16 and discharged 3/17 around 3pm. First 3 days post op was tough, I am also taking care of my two kids, a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 month old which I'm sure is adding to everything, but today post op day 4 ( I count the day I was sleeved) I am doing really well! I was tired as hell the first 3 days, I would nap on and off with my grandmas help during the day and as soon as my husband got home, I was K.O. And pretty useless lol. Pain was there but not too bad, I just had to take it easy. No nausea, but gas was my main enemy! 1 thing that made things worse for me was the super strong narcotics, I have a high pain tolerance and I'm extremely sensitive to medicine (I'll doze off taking DayQuil ????) first night in hospital they were pumping me full of hydromorphone and I couldn't get more than 25 minutes of sleep at a time when I could sleep, I was high as a kite lol. It's funny now but it was the most miserable time for me! Once I was home I was prescribed Tylenol with codeine and i couldn't tolerate it so I called my doc and was told to discontinue and take Tylenol 500mgs. That works like a charm for me and today I haven't taken any! Fluids have been my first priority, it seems the more fluids I get the better I feel and the more energy I have, trying to stay away from dehydration! At first Water was the only thing I could tolerate, I tried adding Isopure -no go! Now I can tolerate everything in the first liquid stage, I am so ready to move to full liquids, but refuse to stray from the plan I'm down 11lbs and the scale keeps moving, but I know it will slow as I progress in to richer and denser foods. It's nice to have a place to talk to others that don't require a long drawn out explanation of ur situation! Anyways that's how I'm doin
  15. Lol I think I set myself up for too much being a first time surgery, but it is what it is! Im actually feeling back to my normal self today thank goodness. The first 3 days were exhausting, I was having to nap off and on through out the day. Getting fluids in is definitely the key for me, I've been working on Jello today to help when we progress to full liquids, I'm hoping on Monday! I've practiced with different amount of sips, and I think I've got down how much is a comfortable sip for me at the moment One thing I have noticed is lower back pain! but I haven't taken any pain medicine today because frankly pills were hard for me to swallow pre surgery, I would need a lot of Water and can't quite do that now. Ive done pretty well with none today surprisingly! I'm so sorry to hear that you are still feeling weak and fatigued, give ur body time though, I think you are doing amazing, setting goals like a champ! And you are not alone, I am sick of liquids lol I feel as though I'm ready to progress to full liquids, but will wait until I am approved to do so. I'm sure we will have to fight ourselves a lot with this so I'm not about to start off on the wrong foot so soon in the game. Protein is a struggle for me, and sadly is not my main priority, but I'm working on it. I am really concentrated on not dehydrating myself as it seems to make everything worse if I don't get liquids at least. I'm 11lbs down, but I know this will slow as we start to incorporate richer and denser foods! I could eat some cream of wheat! Mmmmmm
  16. Hey! I'm feeling a lot better today actually, not quite the zombie I have felt like for the past few days after surgery, thanks for asking! I'm tolerating Water so much better, doesn't hurt to go down and my isopure is going down with less pressure (I'm sure u know what I mean)...I tried jello last night and that will take a few days to get used to..after about 3 tiny bites with a baby spoon, I was done with it. I do have some appetite for things besides what we have to eat, but I know it's head hunger! So trying to keep busy. I have some diarrhea too lol but hey atleast we are having bowel movements baha! I think the reason why I feel a lot better is because I'm off of the codeine, I still feel some pain with my incisions/belly (like I did hundreds of sit-ups) on Tylenol but it's tolerable and I don't feel groggy which I like! I've been eyeing my creamy tomato soup that is awaiting me when we progress to full liquid So far I have lost 6 pounds, water and Protein are both lacking though, all I did was sleep for the past few days...im hoping to get a routine going with meals to hit protein and water goals....oh and being on my period in addition to all this has been loads of fun! And yes 2lbs is awesome, if it's not gain, it's a win! When is ur next appt with dr Ganta? Mine is the 27th, I'm praying that in two weeks I'll be ready for work! Keep at it, I keep reading after a week it's a lot better! Well, I can't seem to eat anything other than a half pop sickle and bottled water. Today I sipped on low sodium chicken broth, maybe 4-5 teaspoons. I'm scheduled to see Ganta on the 27th also, I think 11:30 am. My sister is gone and it's just my boyfriend, the dog and I. I took a 3 hour nap today after a venture to the gas station, car wash and Nordy's Rack. Pretty much wiped me out! I'm glad you are having a much better day. Kudos on getting the Isopure down, I'm scared to try lol. @@sandyb68 thank you for the words of advice and well wishes and continued success to you on this journey. Ive been napping off and on as much as I can, I'm taking care of my two girls so it's all around their time. I'm so ready to just eat regular food, I have found a new appreciation of getting nutrients from food instead liquid since I took it for granted. I can't stomach chicken broth for some reason, only beef. I also can't eat popsicles, they are too sweet for me. Oh good maybe I'll see you on the 27th then! My appt is at 9:30am but appts can run long at his office in my experience lol ...well we've made it through another day, glad to hear you got some sleep in, get some for the both of us!

  18. No I don't believe so, I had a woman, but I sadly do not remember her name because i was high as a kite on those pain killers! I couldn't sleep but for 25 minutes at a time, i would constantly be up. and yes I keep taking it one day at a time, but I'm secretly jumping on that scale, i know the loss isn't accurate right now and its not the best thing to do, but it sure does help me along this stage of "what the hell did i do to myself" haha I know this is the best decision i could have made, but nothing good comes easy, we will get there!

Surgery date March 16th, who's with me? ????

Yayyy! So glad to hear AmynNc! ???? have you been able to drink anything yet?Hey! I've been drinking my G2 since I was in the hospital. I've actually done really well with it. That's all I've drunk besides a little bit of Water. I've only ate Jello and Popsicles. How are you doing? Glad to hear you are doing well @@AmynNC! I tried to drink some Isopure to get Protein in, but it's too sweet now, kinda rubs my tummy the wrong way. I'm currently walking around my apartment, my girls have wore me out today but luckily my grandma could help for a bit...I have yet to venture to jello, Maybe I'll have that instead of broth...I'm so scAred to do anything but liquids, I do not want to end up in that OR again...but I'm sure it's just me.. Water seems to be going down easier, it's better at room temp for me. What all have yall tried that has worked?
  20. Omg! Dr Ganta was my surgeon too, I bet we were recovering in the same hallway lol that's so funny, enjoy codeine city! I can't take anymore because I can't get it all down in one go so it's just 500mg Tylenol for me from now on! Praying for u
  21. I just had my surgery on the 16th at at davids as well! Who was ur surgeon? It's pretty sucky for me too, I started my period and I'm sipping on broth at the moment...everytime I sip I can feel it traveling with gas for a moment and then the pain goes away...isopure is harder to tolerate after but I was told by the nurse that just called to try mixing with a little Water... I'm right there with u, but it will get better I know it

@@chicklit72 sounds like you are doing good now, but so sorry to hear about your breast cancer. I'm glad that is not a cause of worry anymore. I'm also glad to hear that you are home! We all should officially be on post op day 3 or 2 depending on how we look at it lol You ladies are doing great, just a little more and we'll be getting to the good part <3

Surgery date March 16th, who's with me? ????

I completely understand, it's so instinct to pick up our baby and suffer through the pain, I mean that's what u have to do after having them, just have a plan B I guess because u don't want to have to go back under to fix anything. Which. It sounds like u do. And I know how it is not wanting to tell anyone, it's a private thing and u should do it when ur ready. And that's good about the babysitter that will be lots of help! It won't last long but it will feel like forever, we'll get through it though they have me on Tylenol with codeine in it and after I take it all I want to do is knock out...I'm sensitive to medicine though..i just keep telling myself it WILL get easier!

Surgery date March 16th, who's with me? ????

Mine is supposed to be outpatient. I'm supposed to get there really in the morning and be released by that evening. This way it's more affordable for patients since it's less time. Mine is also being done at a surgery center and not a full blown hospital.Oh okay! Wow that's awesome! Especially because it looks like u have babies, it's been so hard to be away from mine, all I want to do is hold them, we live about 35 minutes away from the hospital....Yes I do have babies. 11 yr old step son and a 9 month old and being away will be very hard! Congrats on your leak test! Aww I bet they are adorable, ur 11 year old will be a big help I'm sure! My Doctor does not want me carrying my baby after surgery, she's 2 1/2 months old, they said no more than 10 lbs...I hope u have someone that can help you afterwards since u have a small one like me, the pain isn't unbearable but it's there...
