I am also a handbag and shoe freak. My handbag of choice is Louis Vuittons. I have over ten. If my DH knew what I paid for them he'd kill me or we'd be divorced! My fear of losing weight with the band concerns my shoes. What if I lose weight in my feet and can't wear all my lovely shoes? I think I'll take that risk!

Any Last Minute Advice.....
racetrackweary replied to Songinmysoul1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyalee - Thanks for the info I am actually supposed to start my period the day of my surgery. I will attempt to take any and all necessary steps to deal with the surgery/blood thinner. -
I'm located in San Antonio. My surgery is 01/02/08. Dr. Wright will perform the surgery at True Results Surgery Center out near the medical center. Excited and very, very nervous!

Day 7: Post-Op Appointment News!
racetrackweary replied to UltraGeek's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats to you on doing so well!!! -
Who are you going to or have you told about the LB?
racetrackweary replied to TangerineDreams's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tangerine - I have decided to keep my surgery very private. I have told my husband and my best friend. The main reason I chose to keep this private is in 2005 I had plastic surgery - breast reduction, tummy tuck and lipo. I felt that that would be the "jump start" I needed to continue losing and keeping weight off. It wasn't. So I felt like such a failure! I just knew that people were looking at me thinking - "She had plastic surgery? Can't tell!". After much discussion with my husband - we decided it would be best to just be between he and I. I told my bf cuz I needed some female encouragement. RTW Surgery date: 01/02/08 -
My "last straw" moment was when was my 6 year old told me that my new diet wasn't gonna work because "didn't I remember? None of your diets work momma." It broke my heart. RTW

Wow! Is that my liver shrinking???
racetrackweary replied to CallMeJim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jim - I will definately post and let you know how everything goes. To me the "fear of the unknown" is the worst thing I am dealing with now. I had surgery in '05 (was in surgery for 6 hours) - I have to keep telling myself that if I can go through that, I can go through anything. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and almost talked myself out of it. The crap that does through my head - like "I can do this on my own" (ya right, like all the other times you've successfully lost weight). So - whew - 4 days away! I can do this!! RTW -
fears before surgery - I need help support & advice!
racetrackweary replied to Scarlett O'hara's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Rowshan - OMG! I read your post and thought - "That's me. That's exactly what's been going through my mind since I got my surgery date." In fact, last night I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and almost talked myself out of the surgery. (Surgery in 4 days!) However - I had to tell myself, this surgery is what I need to take care of myself. I will be healthier and happier after the surgery. I also have a young child (6 year old) and I want to be able to run and play with him before he grows up and is gone! I want him to have fond memories of me - not memories of me sitting watching him run and play. Re-affirm your committment to the band - stay strong! This forum is very encouraging - if you have fears realize that everyone who has been banded have also had the same fears. You are normal - be strong! Good luck! RTW -
Losing on pre-op diet... so excited!
racetrackweary replied to adorkbl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey all! Started my pre-surgery diet 12/18 and believe me Christmas was murder - but I kept to task and I'm so proud of myself. I have lost about 7 pounds during this time. My surgery is January 2 - which is starting to freak me out because I have been so busy with Christmas and end of the month billing (work for my husband) that I just looked at the calendar and realized surgery is 4 DAYS AWAY! Holy macaroni! RTW -
Gingerbug - I am also having my surgery on January 2. I am scared as hell but I am going through with it! Time for "Something great in 2008"! Good luck! Racetrackweary

racetrackweary replied to CallMeJim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jim - I started my pre-surgery diet on Wednesday, December 19. Dr. basically wanted me to do the Atkins diet. So I have been slamming back meat and cheese. Christmas was hard - damn I wanted some brownies! - but I am so proud of myself for sticking to it. My surgery is Jan. 2 - scared as hell - but gonna go through with it! Good luck to you! Piddles - I have met with Dr. J. Keith Wright with Dr. Carcamo's office also - and I have surgery scheduled for Jan. 2! Dr. Wright seems like a great guy - super bedside manner. I have a meeting with nutritionist on Thursday and then countdown to surgery! I'm excited but nervous too! RTW -
That is so awesome to hear! You aren't even a whole two weeks out yet! My fear is that the surgery will "keep me down" a long time. I had plastic surgery in '05 and it kicked my butt. This surgery is so much less invasive so I am hoping I recover sooner. I have a 6 y.o. to keep up with! RTW

Away2me - Congrats on being banded! I have 2 weeks til my surgery - 01/02/08. Did you rest most of the weekend? Are you feeling "back to normal"? RTW _____________________ Seminar 12/10/07 Diagnostic Evaluation 12/11/07 Met Dr. 12/11/07 Meet Nutritionist 12/20/07 Surgery 01/02/08

I will be a January bander too! Surgery date - 01/02/08. Really, really scared and excited! Not too scared about surgery - been through surgeries before just the unknown about eating in the future. Yes - we can read all the threads on the site but until we exerience it's so much different. Everything moved so quickly! Seminar 12/10/07; Met doctor 12/11/07; will meet nutritionist 12/20/07 - surgery 1/2/08. I find myself waffling between - "Can't I do this myself?" and "Dang it'll be great to be thin!" I am self pay which also makes me question everything - lots of dinero!!! My doctor wants me to be on the Atkins diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. Guess I better read up on it - as I will starting on Wed. - TWO WEEKS ALREADY! Yikes! I got my date - and it's so SOON!! Panics!!
racetrackweary replied to Fanny Adams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everything is moving so quickly! Seminar on 12/10; Met the doctor on 12/11 - scheduled surgery for January 2. I flip flop constantly about - do I really need this? Then thinking - how great will being thin be? Negative thoughts then positive thoughts. Constantly! I like the remark someone made about "needing a therapist" - that's how I feel! I try not to sign on here too often because there are some scary negative things on this site also - so I try to stay near the before and after pix. (How encouraging are they? Awesome!) Trying not to freak out or freak my husband out! Words of encouragement are appreciated. RTW __________________________ Seminar 12/10/07 Met Dr. 12/11/07 Surgery date - 01/02/08 220/220/140 -
I met with Dr. Wright (San Antonio) today and scheduled my surgery for 01/02/08. There were times when I was sitting in his waiting area thinking "Oh my gosh - what am I doing? Do I really need this? Can't I just do it myself?" But if I could do it myself - I wouldn't be overweight! I have to stay positive. I am also self-pay and ya'll are right - it is an investment in my future! It's also an investment in my child's future!

Hey All! Went to the free seminar at the True Results location off Data Point yesterday. Found it imformative - but knew pretty much all they talked about from this forum! The personal were super attentive and very nice. I was impressed by that. I have a Diagnostic Evaluation today and afterwards will travel to Dr. Wright's office downtown for a consult. (Moving rapidly because I am self pay and ideally the best time for surgery for me is week after Christmas.) They were kind of "pushing" Dr. Gonzales as he performs his surgery their at the True Results building; however, from what I have read on this site I think I would feel more comfortable with Dr. Wright or Dr. Carcamo. Any words of advice from previous patients of Wright, Caracamo or Gonzales? -
AudricIan - I've been following your thread and I am so glad to hear that all went well. We are cheering for you! Hope the "home coming" goes just as well.

Sweety - May I ask when you had your surgery? I notice by your "ticker" you have lost of 40 lbs.! Awesome! So be honest - was it easier or harder than you expected? Can you also give me some input on your recovery time. -
Anyone banded in Austin Texas recently???
racetrackweary replied to robynrr2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Charlah - I am going to the free TrueResults seminar Monday in San Antonio. Is your experience with them "first hand" or do you know someone who has used them? -
MomLambert - Thanks so much for words of wisdom. Although I hate to keep "secrets" from everyone, I just can't face the humiliation should I fail again. I realize that the lower BMI patients have slower weightloss and am hoping that it's so gradual that no one will make a big deal out of it. Like I stated earlier my mom is very "Negative" when it comes to weightloss - of course, she weighs 100 lbs soaking wet and has never had to diet. After having her babysit me through the whole "plastic surgery" recovery - there is NO WAY I would tell her or ask for assistance with this surgery. Last night I started getting "rumblings" from my husband who two days ago told me he just wanted me to be happy. (Knew it was coming. Why do people have to rain on my parade?) Now I'm stuck between telling him to "stick it" and doing the surgery on my own or just "blowing off" the whole deal.

Sweety - Thanks for information. I am signed up for True Results free seminar on Monday. (12 noon) I am glad to hear you have had success and your post-op has gone well too. I am of the mind set that going with a group like True Results you benefit from the experience of all those involved in the group. Plus - I also feel that a group has to stay up on all the latest changes, improvements in their area of expertise.
