    Surgery in Mexico

I just had mine last week with Dr jaime Ponce de leon. Good coordinator is as crucial as the surgeon. Mine was 5000.00. Paid it all with cashier's check to the Dr. I can't believe how easy it all was, went so fast it doesn't seem real yet. I made contact with them, scheduled & done in two weeks. I had to move fast to take advantage of husband's time off. It was now or wait till July. I'm so glad it was now.
  3. I just had mine in Mexico. 5000.00. I'm so glad I chose the Dr I did and patient coordinator I did. Could not be happier. Dr ponce DE Leon with Trish as coordinator
  4. I have bad migraines, have since I was 14. I am to where now I have them atleast 3 times a week. Does anyone out there have migraines, and how did your sleeve affect them? My worst fear is they make them worse. I assume they will be worse at first becaue of liquid diet, not eating always gives me headache. My concern is beyond that, anyone have feedback?
  5. 3 rd day out from sleeve. No migraines. What a relief. I'm anxious to see how they affected
  6. Thanks all! It's getting better & better.. At least now I can release it. To my surprise, @@pinkbunies, mine returned today, just day after. I was shocked. I'm so glad not to have the shoulder gas @@LovinSoul
  7. My surgery was March 28 1 pm. It's now March 29 at 440 pm. I was just allowed ice chips. I was really nervous before surgery...didn't help our plane trip to Mexico was a nightmare! Our flight was cancelled, re routed, and overnight in an airport. So I was supposed tobe in the night before surgery, be ended up day late and taken to surgery as soon as I arrived. That was nerve racking! Everything has gone as well as it could now though..I'm shocked you can have 75%of your stomach removed and not be in horrible pain. I have had no pain, just very bloated. Just feels like a lot pressure, kinda sour stomach feeling. I was afraid I would be miserable with no food/water but haven't been. Especially since my pre surgery fast was extended by several hours cause of plane. I have had a couple bouts of nausea, and wretched a bit. But it was actually a relief, made me kind of burp & relieved some pressure. When did the rest of you get relief from the gas or pressure.? We go home in about 48 hrs, and if bloat doesn't go Down a lot, plane ride will be pretty miserable!
  8. I see so many ppl talking about their sometimes weeks long pre op diet of just liquids. It's always surgeons in the US. I'm getting sleeved in Mexico by dr. Ponce. He requires healthy diet for a week, and 2 days of yogurt. Anyone know why there is such a difference? Makes you wonder what difference it really makes? Or maybe it just depends on your weight?
  9. I've tried Topamax before, it did help for a short time. But some of the side effects are hard to handle. One was good, I lost weight! Eventually came back though. I'm really hoping the sleeve surgery (weight loss) helps them, would be an added bonus! Cause mine have gotten much worse over past five years or so that I have really gained weight
  10. I take magnesuim citrate Daily in pill form...2 that are 200 mg each. And they are pretty big pills. Will I be able to take these after surgery? Will I have to switch to the powder? I want to keep taking, they really help with bowels, and I'm sure I will need that after! Has anyone found a chewable magnesuim citrate?
  11. My sleeve surgery is March 28. I know I will have to supplement with protein powder, I have already purchased genepro powder. How have you fellow vegetarians gotten all your protein? Especially when at liquid & mushy stage? Is it OK if almost all my protein comes from supplement? I would Iike to know what all of you are eating...
  12. I'm having mine there March 28...Saturday . I go home Tuesday 31
  13. That's really helpful. Thanks. It would be a dream come true if it helped them
  14. I'm still weighing out all the pros and cons ..what was your experience with hair loss? When did it start and end? Was it so much other ppl noticed? Anything help?
  15. So I am still in the planning stages, but have made my decision on gastric sleeve. I have about 80-100 lbs to lose. THere is so much info out there that has helped, but would like some direct first hand answers! I am debating between Dr Leon or Dr Ortiz in TJ. Any thoughts? I am concerned with feeling like a normal person. How long before you felt normal, as in you could eat normal healthy food (just in much smaller portions) I will not live the rest of my life on soft food and Protein shakes will I? I am 5"8. Every one talks about skin. I know its different for everyone, but does everyone have lots extra skin? Do you have more with sleeve than you would just traditionally losiing weight? I have lost about 70 lbs before (gained back of course) and did not have any skin. That mean i probably won't this time? Now my weight is very evenly distributed everywhere Will I lose my hair?? I want to get this started asap...If I chose April 8 surgery date, I will be vacationing in Florida May 2. Will I be miserable, what would i be eating by then?
  16. Good to know. It's a beach trip , with all girls, won't be doing anything but laying in the sun! I have chosen to just keep this between me and my husband , girls don't know. Didn't know if I would really be obvious by how I'm eating....will say I'm dieting of course..
  17. Thank you both so much....what was your worst part of it all so far? What were you eating 3 weeks out, and how did you feel? Would you have went on vacation ?
