Need to hear from VSG to DS revisioners
Goldy6575 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So I had the DS a week ago today, due to some weight regain 5 years out from VSG. I have been searching and searching for ppl's experience revising from VSG to DS. I want to hear from you!! I know my weight loss will be slower than with virgin DS, but I guess I'm lacking Faith that I can lose at all, just relying on malabsorption. I am watching what I'm eating (portions and carbs) . Please share with me your experience and loss! And how long was your belly sore? I'm still pretty sore, with the vsg I was back to normal in a couple days. Not so with DS!! -

He did not touch the sleeve, he said it was the appropriate size. I think most of the time it is..I had already had my gallbladder removed. -

Yes, here is update. It took a little longer for me to heal for the DS over the sleeve. My belly was sore and bloated for a solid 2 weeks, with painful gas. It was a pretty uncomfortable recovery in the hospital. I had mine in Mexico and they really don't give you any pain meds. I now have figured out what I can eat. Pretty much anything I want!! Minus sugar...I have found I can still eat bread on my sandwich with no ill effect, and can have just a few bites of dessert. I can have 1 slice of pizza, steak and corn on the cob, roast beef, ... nothing really bothers my stomach. Since I am trying to lose, I do limit my portions, but I'm fully satisfied. Do not feel like I'm missing out at all, nor do I have uncontrollable cravings. I have found that if I eat too much of a carb or sugar, I will have gas and alot more loose stool the next day. It's not like uncontrollable diarrhea or anything, just have to go alot. For that reason it's really not worth it to overeat on carbs, and it keeps me from doing it. And I try to limit my carbs for the weight loss effect, not low carb by any means... just do half a piece of bread with sandwich, etc. The bathroom situation is not as horrible as a lot made it out to be. I had problems with constipation before, so it's actually nice to have looser stools. It is more stinky, but it's worth it!! I have not had any accidents..when I'm traveling I take devrom tablets, and it takes the stinkies away. It took awhile for me to trust the weight loss from malabsorption. At first I didn't trust it, and was eating hardly anything at all, and it actually slowed my weight loss. Once I trusted it, and ate like a normal person (about 1000-1300 cals a day) the weight started coming off. I have lost 12 since July 20. It's slow but steady. I average about 2 lbs a week... before my DS when I would try so hard doing keto, or 1000 cals a day ( which felt like starvation) I absolutely would not lose. For breakfast I usually have 4 sausage links or low sugar oatmeal. For lunch a deli meat sandwich with cheese and Mayo, usually on just one piece bread. For dinner, usually grill a meat with a veggie, or do tacos, or bacon avacado sandwich, or egg drop soup with 2 crab rangoon. Or I also love Amy's frozen cheese enchiladas. I try not to snack between meals, because most snacks are carb heavy. If I do, I'll do cheese sticks. Any questions, please ask. Would I do it over again, heck yes. -
I'm so frustrated!!! Vsg to DS revision
Goldy6575 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my vsg to DS revision 3 weeks ago, due to some weight regain. I know my loss will be much slower than a virgin DS. But this is ridiculous!! I lost 4 lbs the first week, gained a pound the next week, and the scale says today I've gained another pound just since Tuesday!! I want to scream!! I have been doing about 1000 calories a day, and doing lower carb, sugar free. I have drastically changed my eating habits that caused me to regain. This combined with the malabsorption, I should definitely be losing!!!! What am I doing wrong?? Someone please give me some hope that this is going to work... -

600 to 800 kinda seems like starvation, since it's not a virgin sleeve, but I'll try it. As for carbs, I usually do an egg with cheese, or bacon or protein oatmeal for brkfast. For lunch roast beef deli meat with cheese and mayo (with maybe 1/2 piece bread) , usually 5 or 6 carb snack, and a brat or polish sausage for supper. -

Sleeve to bypass revision- weight lost??
Goldy6575 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello I had the sleeve 5 years ago and lost 70 lbs. My goal was to lose 90. And the past 6 months I have gained back 25. I want to stop this in it's tracks!! I am scheduled for revision to bypass next month. I get very conflicting stories on expected weight loss. Dr says I should lose half what I did with sleeve, the video Dr Weiner has says no loss is expected. I would like to know from actual patient who has had this revision what their weight loss was after revision... -

@beaker27 None, because I'm getting it done in Mexico, where I got my sleeve done. -

Hello, will drinking beer stretch my sleeve?
Goldy6575 replied to Gail Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lite beer has only 80 calories... I don't think that's a lot?? I am almost 3 months out and have had beer on vacation and occasionally. Takes a lot longer to drink one, but I had no problems & did not affect my losses. -
I know a lot depends on age, but what is your skin like, going down that many sizes?

Pro's & Con's of gastric sleeve surgery?
Goldy6575 replied to Wantingtobeslimmer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
9 weeks out, absolutely no cons for me. I already feel like a normal person again, with a healthy relationship with food. Can't wait what the next 60 lbs loss brings! -
I had lost 15 at 4 weeks. I am now almost 9 weeks and at 30. I find the same thing, sometimes I feel I can eat a lot more than others. One morning I can eat a whole 5 Oz Yogurt with no problem, the next day I might not..

I used it, really helped my energy levels

New to this site. Sleeve on 3/20/15. Hit a STALL!
Goldy6575 replied to Tina1977's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I keep reading about everyone on here, and their total weight loss and it really encourages me to look at the longer term. I know the ppl on here who lost 60, 80 or 100+ probably hit a stall on the way, but they still lost a whole lot overall. I keep telling myself that... So that when it comes I don't freak out. -
I went to the beach at 5 weeks & got in Ocean. No problem. I was healed over

I love all the nice comments I get but...
Goldy6575 replied to gettinghealthymom1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel same way, my weight & loss is private to me, I would never tell anyone how much I've lost. It's a personal accomplishment to me, I get kind of embarrassed when ppl comment. Ppl will all out ask 'how much have you lost', and I just try to remember so many ppl are open books and will tell everybody everything, so it seems like a normal question to them. I just say thanks! -
Support after surgery-no one to help me

If you mean physically, none. Just a lifting restriction which wasn't hard to work around. -
Bathroom Issues?

I didn't cheat with my liquids & had that also. I figured if only liquid going in, well, it makes sense. It does turn the other way pretty quick! -
My one chance, don't want to screw it up!
Goldy6575 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I know these first few months are crucial to my weight loss, I really Want to take advantage of it. I feel like it's a gift & I want to use it wisely. I'm about a month out, experimenting with different softer foods. I feel like I'm eating too much fat, is this going to slow down my loss? Or is that some of my old dieting mentality? I'm still at around 600 to 700 calories, fat is around 30 to 40 grams, carbs around 40 and protein 45 to 60. For instance, today was Greek Yogurt, Crab & Avocado salad, half piece cheese for snack & ricotta bake. (low fat ricotta, sauce, mozz chz). How am I doing? Had surgery in Mexico so no Dr advice, & I don't eat red meat or chicken. -

yes, a downside of surgeon. I picked him for his 20 years of experience. I have read a lot online of menus, I guess I would like to hear first hand from ppl who have lost what ranges they stayed in -

they gave me advice for the food stages, (liquid to soft etc) but nothing specific beyond that. Dr ponce DE Leon.... I asked the coordinator other question, and it was never answered.
