    1 day after

I'm two days post op and I have the same issues. Still in a lot of pain, especially with gas that just won't pass. I will say I feel better everyday, I'm just trying to make sure I don't get dehydrated. Keep us updated on how you're feeling!
  2. I'm two days out and I'm still really struggling with the gas pain as well. I can burp just fine, but nothing is coming out the other end. I also have TERRIBLE hiccups. They come about once an hour, sometimes when I drink something, sometimes when I'm just laying down, sometimes when I stand up and walk around. There's no controlling them. I'm hoping I'll be able to get some more liquids in once I get rid of all this gas, but I'm definitely not meeting the 64 oz per day goal my doctor set. Maybe half of that, if I'm lucky. I hope you all get to feeling better soon.
  3. Thanks yall, you're both right! I actually went in to my first appointment thinking I would do the RNY, to be told sleeve would be better, and now back to RNY. My doctor warned me today about dumping syndrome and I'm actually grateful to have another reason to keep me from eating all the bad stuff again (definitely don't want to make myself sick!). I think it's just nerves kicking in! @@caligul good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes
  4. Hi All- For the last few months my doctor and I have been operating under the assumption I'd be having the gastric sleeve surgery next week (June 9th). I've done lots of research and feel very prepared to be successful after surgery. However, in my pre-op meeting today we went over my Endoscopy and medical history results and he now thinks it would be better for me to go with the Gastric Bypass surgery because he doesn't want my reflux to get worse. I fully trust him and his judgement, it was just a bit of a shock for me, especially since it's only one week away! To be honest I think I'm just overwhelmed that it's all finally happening. Regardless of which organs they stitch together, I just want to make a decision to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. Any anecdotes or words of wisdom? Thanks! Brittany

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

@lisaanewme67 & @spiceyfrog-I don't have much of a supervised diet, or even a liquid diet requirement before surgery. So I'm kinda taking it into my own hands & starting to slowly replace meals with Protein shakes. I have YET to find a shake that I think tastes good. I've tried the Lean 25 and Premier Protein Shakes. My friend swears by the ones they sell in bulk at costco, but I'm scared to buy that much and not use it. Any suggestions?
  7. I'm June 9th! Highest Weight was 260 and I'm down to about 235. I'm hoping to lose another 5 before surgery. My doctor said an ideal goal weight would be 140-ish. I'd be happy just to get under 200, haha
  8. I'm scheduled for surgery June 9th and my doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet. Just Clear liquids the day before surgery. I'm worried about going from suddenly eating whatever I want (pre-op) to only being able to drink liquids for a few weeks after surgery (post-op), so I'm going ahead (with my Drs permission) and slowly introducing Protein shakes into my diet. I'm hoping the week before surgery to just eat one full meal a day and replace the others with fluids. That way it wont be such a HUGE shock to my body, or my mind. I'm still trying to figure out what to eat for my "last meal"- has anyone else started considering that yet too? Good luck to those of you with dates coming up soon! Only three weeks left for me!

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

    @@Spiceyfrog I'm June 9th too!
  10. Hi all- I had my NUT appointment a few days ago and based on my blood work they encouraged me to start taking a daily Multivitamin, Biotin, and extra B12. I've been doing that for about 3 days and I can't find a way to take them without getting nauseous afterwards. I've tried eating before, eating after, and drinking them with milk. Has anybody else had this problem? I just know if they're making me sick now, they'll most definitely make me sick after surgery when all I can intake is liquids and my stomach is significantly smaller. Any advice? Thanks! Brittany

    No Pre-Op Diet?

Thanks for all the replies! I might take your advice and just start out by replacing one meal a day with a shake so that I know what they taste like for afterwards. I just want to make sure I'm in the right mindset going into it, so I can be successful on the other side
  13. Hi All- I was just given a surgery date of June 9th for my sleeve! I'm very excited, but I feel like it's all happening very quickly. I just started the process two weeks ago. My question is this- I asked my doctor's nurse about liquid pre-op diets and she said that my doctor doesn't have a requirement for that unless he believes you have a "fatty liver" and apparently my blood tests all came back great. She said the only thing I'll be required to do is a clear liquid diet the day before. Do you think it would still be smart to do at least a few days of the Protein shakes and stuff leading up to the surgery? I'll ask my doctor the next time I see him, of course. But I think it might help me get into the swing of things before surgery- especially considering I'll have to be on all liquids after it's done. Has anyone else had experience with a doctor who doesn't require a pre-surgery diet? Thanks! Brittany
  14. @@Engteacher I confirmed my surgery for June 9th today as well!! We can be buddies
  15. Hi @@Seamster44, I'm 25 and hopefully going to have my sleeve done in early June. I'm in the middle of the process and have the nutritionist and psychologist appointment left and then hopefully my insurance will approve I haven't quite decided who I'm going to tell yet. I'm usually a pretty open book, but this might be a little too personal to share with the world. I do take a lot of pictures tho, so I'm sure people will notice such a drastic weight change. How were you planning on handling this?
