  1. Dr Balette with the Surgical Group of the Woodlands. Not exactly Houston but close. He is the chief of surgery at Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands. He is so nice and encouraging!
  2. My sister works at a hospital and says it's considered out patient as long as you are there for less than 24 hours. And they don't count the surgery or recovery time, only the time you are in your room. So while I was in the hospital overnight it was considered out patient. Weird, I know.

    VSG and a Hernia Repair

I had a hernia repair at the same time as the sleeve surgery. I had no symptoms prior to the surgery, I had no idea I even had one. No problems after surgery either. I'm 9 days post surgery and it's been surprising easy. I had one day of pain in my stomach but no issues from the hernia repair.

    Food dreams

OMG! I just had a food dream last night! I wanted to go to a local fast food restaurant from my home town. I'm 5 days post surgery and on full liquids. I'm not hungry either but the dream was a little sad because that hamburger seemed so good!

    New Beginnings...

He definitely seems like he knows what he is doing. Good luck on your journey. I had a gastric sleeve done on 3/25 in The Woodlands so I've just started.

    New Beginnings...

I know Dr Now! He's on every episode of My 600 lb Life on TLC. I wouldn't watch the show at first but now im addicted.
  7. I had surgery on 3/25. I'm still thinking why have I done this to myself. Too late now! But I just have to believe every day has got to get better.
  8. I just had surgery on Wednesday. I didn't really have pain or nausea when I first woke up. As the anesthesia wore off I felt stomach pain and some soreness in my incisions. Now it feels like I have a sore stomach. I was on morphine ( not a pump) in the hospital but will probably not take any of the oral pain medicine as its liquid and disgusting. I woke up in the recovery room and then was moved to my own room. I think I was walking a couple hours later. I had a couple bouts of intense nausea but they came on fast and left quickly.

    Out of pocket cost

Originally my total cost was $15,500. However I also will have a hernia repaired so it dropped to $8,000 because insurance will cover some of the hospital and anesthesiologist. In the US! While I hate that my insurance doesn't cover the surgery moving forward has only taken a month. My surgery is next week
