7 Months PO and need snack options
Need4Change replied to Slimsoon1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love these things!! And they are the perfect size for a meal for me right now. My favorite is the Pepperjack with honey roasted peanuts. It's delicious and a great balance of savory and sweet. -
7 Months PO and need snack options

These things are great! I think there are 4 or 5 different ones. -
Prior to surgery I was a BIG Pepsi drinker. When it wasn't Pepsi, it was sweet tea. Since surgery I have had a very difficult time finding a beverage that is acceptable, that I like. I need to be able to deviate from Water (which I can only drink bottled and VERY cold). I have tried various Crystal Light flavors, unsweet tea, tea with sweetners, diet juice and variations on all of them. My question...are there any former Pepsi drinkers that have found a new beverage to love?

BMI less than 30 at start of surgery
Need4Change replied to Joannaharris77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I barely made the cut off at 36. I was under the impression that most surgeons (in the U.S.) wouldn't perform surgery under 35. I am thinking that you're likely part of a very small group of BMI'ers. Are you in the states? -
Beverages - Need help!
Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find the debate of carbonated beverages post-op quite interesting. Some surgeons okay with it, most against it and not a whole lot of scientific evidence either way. If carbonation were acceptable, it would open up a whole new world of beverages, diet Pepsi even, but I'm not willing to take the risk. -
Beverages - Need help!
Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's killer. I know that my Pepsi addiction was a big part of my weight gain, but finding a go-to drink is proving impossible. I am fine with changing my eating habits, so drinks can't be my downfall! Suggestions please! -
Ladies: Post sleeve menses question!
Need4Change posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has your sleeve or weight loss had an affect on your monthly cycle? My cycle (which had been absent for 4 months due to an IUD) showed up 4 days post-op and has been steady (albeit lightly) flowing for the last 3 weeks. Anyone else have similar issues? -
I make little baked egg omelettes with low fat cheese and mushrooms. I cook them in silicone muffin tins and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. I usually add a splash of 2% milk, a dash of cream of tartar and a few sprinkles of cayenne pepper. You can add any diced meats or vegetables as desired. You can also refrigerate and reheat for 45 seconds in the microwave. My whole family loves them.

Full liquids for 2 weeks - help!
Need4Change posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Monday, 8/24 and discharged yesterday. I have minimal pain and nausea and have been able to walk fine. My problem is that I have a very hard time seeing how I can survive the monotony of a full liquid diet for two weeks. My BMI was 36, so my surgeon didn't require a pre-op diet. I have spent so much time focusing on how I can spin meals for my family that are acceptable for me as well (once I am ready for my new normal), that I have really neglected to find anything appealing for liquids. What are you eating or what did you eat for your full liquids, that made it tolerable? TIA! -

Former csection mommies
Need4Change replied to MollyF22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a c-section and consider that recovery to be more painful than my sleeve. It helps that there isn't a newborn to care for, in addition to other post-partum "stuff" (sparing the gory details for those that have not given birth). I would liken the pain of recovery closely to that of gall bladder removal, minus all of the eating restrictions. The weakness that follows the sleeve I would liken to recovering from a rough flu. That drained, weak, need fluids - kind of exhaustion. -
Post-Op Pain - Burning Sensation
Need4Change posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 days post-op and in the last couple of days have started to notice a burning sensation in my abdomen. Specifically, above and to the left of my navel. There's no incision in the exact location and no bruising, just burning when I make certain movements. Has anyone else experienced this? TIA. -
You could be developing pneumonia. It's definitely worth mentioning to your surgeon.

I ate it post op and did just fine. I guess it might depend on the thickness and consistency of the egg. My local restaurant makes the egg as thin as I would imagine it could be. It's a very wispy texture and doesn't need to be chewed, as it slides right through with the broth.

Substituting a piece of lettuce as a tortilla is quite delicious. I love to eat Thai Chicken lettuce wraps and look forward to using lettuce in place of all types of bread (buns, tortillas, etc).

It's about time!
Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I passed my swallow and leak test and I am tolerating Water and juice well, so I get dinner. Yay me! I am imagining broth and Jello. Still only minimal pain. I have a drain, but it will be removed before discharge tomorrow. So glad it's done! Congrats again to everyone else! -
I will be leaving my house in a little less than 4 hours, to head to the hospital for my sleeve. No nerves whatsoever. I am scheduled for 8:15 and I am ready! Best wishes to all my sleeve twins heading in today!

It's about time!
Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been done for several hours. Woke up with minor pain and seriously dry mouth. Other than that, I am great. I hope everyone else is just as good, if not better. -
I just received my date today and it's 8/24. Looking for some date buddies. Anyone?

Any 8/24 sleevers?
Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's almost time! I cannot begin to tell you how many times in life, I would say..."when I'm thin...", "when I lose weight..." , "this time next year, I plan to fit into..." For the first time in my life, I KNOW it's true. I know I'm going to do it. I'm not fooling myself into thinking something that's not going to happen. This is really happening. This is really happening in less than TWO days. Exactly 30 hours until I leave for the hospital. Exactly 32 hours and 45 minutes until my scheduled surgery slot. -

Need4Change replied to Need4Change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ready! I already picked up protein shakes, jello, popsicles, broth and lots of water. I ordered my vitamins and protein powder. I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow. Then I'll just be waiting for Monday! -
Planning for Help at Home After Surgery
Need4Change replied to SunflowerGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgery was done as outpatient? My surgeon requires a two night stay in the hospital. I thought that was pretty standard. I'm kinda shocked!
