Period. Please read and shed some light
TiffanyMarie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 28 years old and when I reached my heaviest weight, 352, decided enough was enough. I have PCOS, hypertension, hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, gastritis, fatty liver disease, and few other medical conditions that are not related to my obesity. My menstrual cycle has always been fouled up. I can go six months without having a period. I had my surgery in December and was on my period. When I came home from the hospital, I got my period again making that twice in December. I did not have it in January. In February, I got my period twice again. The second time has left me with some concerns. I don't understand why I am not getting my period twice in a month and the second time around instead of bleeding during the day - I bled only at night. I am normally the exact opposite. My period are heavy and the cramping is painful. Finally, I stopped bleeding a few days ago and now I am spotting again. Can anyone shed some light on this? I am sexually active with my partner of four years. There is a possibility of a pregnancy but, I took a test about a week ago and it was negative. -

First off, way to go on keeping a diary of what you are eating! It keeps you mindful. What times of the day are you eating? How many times a day are you eating? Are you exercising? I am asking these questions because... 1. it is not recommended to eat after 7PM because of how your body digests your food. 2. Eating too little can cause your metabolism to slow down and throw your body into starvation mode. Therefore, potentially making you gain weight. 3. If you are exercising, it could be muscle mass that you are gaining. -
Overeating over a period of time or not chewing very well can cause your pouch to stretch. Not certain about symptoms though.

I had my surgery at the beginning of December and my pain didn't go away for about three weeks. I ended up having to have my nurse call the surgeon and request additional pain medicine (hydrocodone) because it hurt so bad. It does get better though.

I wouldn't call mine a cycle either. I haven't stopped bleeding since the second period at the end of Feb. I didn't even think about asking them to check my Iron but, I will at the appointment tomorrow. My mother in law told me this evening that I look a little pale. I don't feel too weak though; Thank God. I took another pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I don't think this is a pregnancy. I think that like both of you have said... my body is just going nuts and this is one of the ways it's acting out so to speak. I wish it would stop though. This is ridiculous. Just saying. -

Oh my gosh, I wasn't told that regarding bc pills. Well, I guess it's a good thing I haven't taken them. I will ask for a blood test on Thursday just to be on the safe side. I will keep you posted. I don't know how to add you as a friend on here so if you know add me. I'd love to keep in touch with you. -

@freshair Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post! Today, I am still spotting. I made an appointment to see my primary care physician on this Thursday afternoon. She said we need to do a pap smear and take a look into my hormone levels. Just like you said, she thinks with all the weight loss thus far my hormones are going crazy. I plan on taking another pregnancy test tomorrow morning. I remember the surgeon saying I would become more fertile and it's not recommended to become pregnant until at least a year after surgery. One of the reasons I had the surgery is because I do want a family. I have read so many stories about women who have had PCOS and then had the surgery, which led them to become pregnant. I was originally put on Ministrin, which is a bc pill. I do not want to have to take another pill and therefore, haven't taken it since I had the surgery. I know it's not smart AT ALL. I will be talking to the doctor on Thursday and ask about the patch or the depo. When you were on the depo did you gain weight? -

I do not have the same opinion as you however, the experience that I have had has opened my eyes to things I didn't pay attention to before having the surgery. I see the choices that people make and watch them eat - It doesn't make me angry. It just makes me mindful. They say you are what you eat.
