  1. Do you drink regular soda or diet soda? I drink 2-5 litres of coke zero a day and hasn't bothered my diet, I might get a sugar craving here and there but nothing a 100 calorie snack won't cure.
  2. Dry and bland for the most part, Smuckers is the only natural PB we get here in the country, and to make it worst they only import the chunky version (I prefer creamy),
  3. I did that, but I have terrible luck with both almond and peanut butter that are advertised as natural. so I just gave up
  4. What a coincidence, I used to eat peanut butter once every blue moon, but after surgery I've taken a liking to it and all other nut butters, as for PB, I like the Peter Pan creamy, the natural ones we have here are only chunky and I hate the oily, dry taste they have even though the roasted peanut flavor is very nice on these.
  5. I had some issues with portion control, I then found out using a small plate for the main course (steak, fish, etc.) and two small 4Oz Ramekins to hold your side dishes helps a lot, that way you don't concentrate on filling the plate and the ramekins give the illusion you're getting a lot of food.
  6. I was allowed to drink carbonated drinks after 7 months, I drink 2-4 litres of Coke Zero a day, I don't drink water, doctor says it's fine as long as I'm hydrated and it doesn't have sugar.
  7. Hey guys just a heads-up, I tend to get nauseous if I mistakenly overeat, not to the point of vomiting mind you, though it has happened twice, but rather just usually overly full; I'm sure I'm not the only one here who suffers that, so I've been trying out eating a mint or two (Peppermint) if that happens and it seriously helps with easing myself, since then I always carry a box of ice breakers coolmints but I'm sure any other strong mint will work, specially if it's peppermint.
  8. "You can lead a horse to Water, but you can't make it drink" the old saying goes. This forum is all about help, these people have experienced the surgery and are providing their knowledge which you asked for, no one is treating you like an idiot as you bluntly and rudely put it, if that's how you react to proper advise I'd hate to see you react to actual snarky criticism; this isn't Tumblr either where everyone is holding each others hand on every single misstep and never criticize, when the people here sound "snarky" to you they're being direct as what you were doing was foolish so out of concern they're being stern in their responses, there's no way to sugarcoat these types of things.

    Odd Jittery Feeling..

It's probably a mild discomfort but if you feel it progresses over the next hour or so better consult with your doctor.

    Odd Jittery Feeling..

I used to have this at the beginning when I challenged my cravings and ate a spoonful of tuna, this turned to "sliming" and vomiting; are you sure you should be eating solid proteins a month after surgery?

The fear of regain is REAL!

I've found out two types of foods are very easy to pass, they're chips of every kind and Cookies, they probably over-indulged in these two types of Snacks, or they drink a LOT of non-diet soda/sugary drinks, otherwise I'm confused as to why they'd gain weight, my stomach is roughly at 5-6Oz capacity at 8 months, I've eaten Chimichangas, daily, for a week and I did not gain weight (these were 5Oz microwave chimichangas - around 4 a day), in fact I lost weight because my caloric intake was actually lower than 1000 calories, the only drinks I had were Coke Zero and Tea with Splenda. I've also abused some sweets every now and then and still my weight keeps going down, currently changed to a 36 pants size last week. There's something they're not telling you and I bet it has something to do with sugar.
  12. Ah, appetite! 'tis a cruel mistress, don't worry, we've all experienced these cravings, you'll satiate them soon enough in a couple of months.

    Any advice or tips

Yes and no, depends how much of a workload you're going to have after the operation, you will have a Jackson Pratt surgical drain attached to you for roughly 2 weeks, this can be secured inside your clothing to avoid snags but be careful with kids around so they don't pull it, it hurts if someone yanks on it (it's still inside of you after all in an open wound). You won't be able to do any heavy lifting, crouching, stretching a lot and bending will hurt a bit, however it's manageable if done lightly, in other words, you'll need all the help you can get with your kids so it's good you have your mom and husband's support. After drainage is removed you'll be able to move with more freedom, just don't over do it remember you just underwent surgery so no exercise until the doctor tells you it's OK. FYI anything done while static will be of no problem, for example cooking is fine, sitting on the computer is fine, watching TV, etc.
  14. I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't regretted the operation the first few days or even months, I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's really difficult at first, however as time progresses and your stomach heals you will be able to be happy again, you'll be able to eat much more whilst your stomach restricts the intake, just hang in there, it's never easy for us fatties to suddenly start eating tiny portions from one day to the next. I'm 8 months out and happy, I can eat "normally" with friends, my food intake is much larger now that my stomach has healed and slightly expanded (probably around 5-6Oz of food depending on density) and nothing hurts. Be patient, I know it's hell but don't succumb to your fear, embrace it and surround yourself with demons in this hell! Wait, no, ignore the last part, but just basically go with the flow and progress slowly, you'll be fine in a couple of months.

    Warning: Fresh/frozen cherries

Hey by no means this was a "OMG CHERRIES TAKE COVER!" thread, lol. Just a warning to be careful and see if they bother you, otherwise I'm glad to hear you guys are eating them without problems, sucks that this is happening to me even after I was cleared for fruits, been eating lots of them fresh and canned without issue except fresh cherries, heck even mango flesh doesn't cause me problems.
