I am trying to pick a doctor as well as a hospital to have my surgery. I have had a couple of consults with surgeons and have not felt all that comfortable and am curious if anyone on here has a sugestion for a GREAT doctor in this area. Any help is much appriciated! Also - is there a way to check a doctors track record at all?? i feel like it is sort of a crap shoot - which scares me. Sara in WA

Lap Band issues with Pregnancy??
cutiepiepmu posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am looking forward to having my lap band surgery - but am curious if anyone knows of any issues with future pregnancy? I am not planning to get pregnant in the next year or so, at least until I have lost the weight I need to. But, I would like to have children in the future and am concerned that the lap band may cause complications. anyone know anything regarding this? Obviously I will be discussing this with my doctor when it gets to that point, but wanted in-put and thoughts here too  Thanks everyone, Sara in WA -

Hi Lisa, Glad to hear your kid is doing well. Malibu is hanging in there - She is about 80% at this point. I am having an accupuncture/accupressure and chiropractor out next week to work on her. She is still very short strided, but she seems to have something going on in her pelvis. She has GROWN - she is now 18 hands and almost 1850 pounds... Awful big for a coming 3 year old!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you for your insurance to come through!! I wish I had insurance to fall back on, but at this point I don't and I am not patient enough to wait any more How did you pick your doctor??? I am having some trouble in that area. Take care, Sara -

For those with BMI 35-40?
cutiepiepmu replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand. My BMI is 37.5 and EVERYONE around me has said the same thing. My other half finally has gotten to the point he understands what a struggle things are and is completely supportive - but for outsiders, it isn't so easy to understand - especially if they do not have a weight problem and the weight related issues that go along with it  Hang in there, you are not alone here and I think it is a NORMAL reaction for people to say that. Lap Band issues with Pregnancy??

THANK YOU! That was my feeling is that it would be able to be un-filled for the pregnancy, but hadn't really seen alot of info on the subject. I had never considered GBP - way too risky, and being that I am at the point of needing to loose right at 100 pounds - I didn't figure I was extreme enough to justify rearranging my insides  This is really encouraging. I am looking SO forward to getting the surgery and being able to get on with my life. I was always very fit and very thin but broke my back several years ago and with learning to walk again and whatnot - I put on TONS of weight and my metabolism has slowed so much that taking it off has proven to be basically impossible  Thansk so much all!!! Hi Lisa, Sure is a small world! how are your kids doing? I am just in the begining phase of this whole thing - but, I am sure it is something I want to do. Been on the yo-yo for so long I can't take it anymore. I don't have insurance currently, so that is not an issue for me - wish it was though:) What insurance do you have? Sara in WA
