@@jess9395 @@BLERDgirl I had been looking at those recipes. Since it's the season, I was thinking of trying a recipe I found for "pumpkin pie" overnight oats! -

@@BLERDgirl I'm going to try steel cut oats too! I had a slice of Trader Joe's sprouted bread yesterday - kind of an open-faced sandwich. No negative effects - but I actually haven't encountered anything I eat yet. I think I was a little less foggy in the afternoon but maybe that's just wishful thinking. -

@@Whitney1968 good idea! -
@@Chrystee ah ok. As for the inches thing being bunk, I doubt it. My doc is an excellent surgeon but coldly clinical and unlikely to say something just to try and make a patient feel better about the number on the scale. And I've heard it from a variety of other sources too.

@@Whitney1968 I'll look into it! Though I'm actually thinking I need more carbs, rather than fewer. -
@@Chrystee watching them how? Do you think you need more or fewer?
-
@@Madmax68 well that's easy enough to remember! @@Chrystee you might want to try adding 100 - 200 for two weeks as a test and see if that makes a difference. But with all the working out you're doing you're also gaining muscle. I was told by my doc to take measurements when I weigh in as a reminder that I may be losing inches even if the number on the scale isn't as low as I'd like.

I've been wondering if I need more healthy carbs like whole grains, etc. I tend to get really foggy by mid-afternoon. Almost all of my carbs now are from fruits and vegetables. I was thinking about steel oats in the morning before a work out, or perhaps some kind of sprouted bread? The only problem with the sprouted bread is that almost all of the various kinds I've found are at least 110 calories a slice and my meals are usually only about 150 calories. -
@@Chrystee I'm obviously not a doctor, but I think you probably do need to increase some. Especially on those days where you bike 20 miles or more!

@@Djmohr good advice! I actually do the exact same steps - except sip milk. It hasn't been working lately though. I'm still hungry a lot more than is comfortable.

@@Djmohr that sounds really frustrating!! Do you get hungry at 1200?

@@Daisee68 the best they can come up with is that I'm losing weight at a rate that my body is playing catch up.

@@Daisee68 yep had my thyroid checked. Well, not since the 6 month blood work but I was just as tired at 6 months. All my labs were great. @@sweetie716 that's good exercise. I try to do strength training 6 days a week, though I do it at home with just free weights, so I'm sure I could be doing it more effectively. I'm jealous that your energy is good! Not only am I tired, I get pretty foggy too. Probably means I need more carbs or something.
-
@@sweetie716 good to know! Do you get hungry? At my 6 month follow up my doc suggested I add 200 calories because I was so tired and exercising so often. Though It hasn't helped much with the tiredness, I lost more weight than I did the previous month at 1000 calories.

@@VSGAnn2014 that's good to know. That's what I had been averaging for the past two months. I think it's actually only been these past two weeks it's been higher. I've been much hungrier of late.

@@BLERDgirl good advice! Thanks!

@@Chrystee good point. I just find all of this kind of irritating because I had been really enjoying cycling and I'm enjoying it less now.
