@@kaitlynm I tend to do about 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training on days I don't work. It's impressive that you're able to do 2 hours every day! I totally would if I could but I work a minimum 12 hour day that, factoring in travel time, usually means about 14 hours. @@jenn1 distance running sounds great! How did you get into that? I'm a year out now and down 200 pounds. I've still got about 27 pounds to go and I'm wondering how many calories I should be eating now? I'm incredibly active - on days I don't work I usually walk or run 5 miles plus strength training. I have a very active job so even on days that I work I get a minimum of 10,000 steps, though usually it's closer to 20,000. Once I did 34,000! Currently I eat between 1000 - 1200 calories and get about 105 - 115 grams of protein a day. I definitely feel like I get hungry much quicker and stay full for far less time. My nutritionist is terrible at responding to my emails so I figured I'd ask the community how many calories all of you eat? How many ounces do you eat? I'm eating about 3 ounces of protein and 2 ounces of vegetables per meal.

How Many Calories One Year Out?

@@ssflbelle thanks! And congrats on your surgery! I get the protein by having a protein shake in the morning, a midday snack that's usually some kind of protein (string cheese, peanut butter and celery, etc), then for lunch I have 3oz protein and 2 ounces of vegetables, and afternoon Quest bar, a dinner that consists of 3oz of protein and 2oz vegetables. I also almost always have an Enlightened ice cream bar for dessert which also has 8g of protein. Hope that helps! -

To Protein Drink or Not To Protein Drink
Indieflickers replied to anwen_ut's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I agree with previous posters - I don't know how you can be expected to get your minimum protein on a liquid diet without protein shakes. Even at a year out I drink a shake in the morning because a) it's an excellent source of protein but more practically it's so that I don't have to wait half an hour to have breakfast after taking my vitamins since my breakfast is a liquid. I eat 3 ounces of protein (usually chicken or pork) for lunch and dinner. I also have a Quest bar once a day. Total I get about 100 - 115 gram of protein a day. -

Indieflickers replied to Indieflickers's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@megpie22 I understand that worry but I guarantee that you will lose. I think how much depends on a number of different variables, including how hard you work at it. I do exercise. I exercise every day that I don't work. My job is minimum 12 hours a day so it's difficult to exercise those days, but I spend most of the work day running around anyway so I usually end up walking at least five miles over the day anyway. On a busy day last week I actually walked 14.6 miles over the course of the day. On days I don't work I usually walk or run or bike and then do strength training. -

@cervaide thanks! I feel really good. Around 7 - 8 months out I was definitely having serious exhaustion and, like you, all my blood work was great. My doc said the same thing, my body was probably just in shock due to rapid weight loss. I definitely have a lot more energy now. -

@@Renkoss thanks! I actually do have a fair amount of loose skin. It's mostly on my stomach and upper arms. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to have plastic surgery at some point. But I knew that going into it. My advice to newbies is to follow the rules. Forgive yourself when you mess up or make mistakes, because you will. There is no such thing as perfection. Do not let your mistakes derail you. The hardest part was making tracking my food, weighing and measuring a habit. The easiest bit is tracking my food, weighing and measuring now that it is a habit. @@sassyfrass23 thanks so much! @@Inner Surfer Girl thanks! I am quite pleased. -
Do You Log Your Food?
Indieflickers replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I log EVERYTHING. Even if it's a literal bite. I'm a little obsessive about it, but it's something I've actually come to enjoy doing and I think it's definitely played a role in my success. I also weigh and measure everything because it never made much sense to log something if you don't know the accurate amount. This is partly why I so rarely dine out - I don't like guessing. I tried My Fitness Pal but never really liked the layout. I use the UP app religiously. -
Quest bars, 1 - 2 ounces of fruit, small piece of very dark chocolate...I'm also obsessed with Halo Top ice cream and Enlightened ice cream bars.

I have a couple questions about biking for you more seasoned cyclists. I'm trying to vary my cardio so I've finally started using my very nice Electra Townie which I bought five years ago and then hung on a wall to gather dust. As nice as the bike is, I'm wondering if I should get a different one as I don't think that cruisers are really meant for serious exercise. If I were to get another bike, is there a relatively inexpensive option anyone could recommend? Secondly, I've noticed for the past couple days that I get kind of nauseous towards the tail end of my hour long ride. Do I just need to drink more whilst riding or is there another explanation?
