I had gastric bypass surgery on Feb 18, 2015. It would be nice to have someone who has had the same surgery near the same date. Share frustrations, recipes, vent...etc.
-
I have found since my bypass I have gradually become more "moody." Has anyone else experienced this?
-
I had surgery a little over a month ago and I've lost 36 pounds. I don't know why, but it seems less than some. How much did you loose in the first month?

Dr . Salzberg is an awesome doctor! Just follow everything he and his staff say and you will be fine! Good luck to you! It's an exciting journey.
-
Congratulations! It's a lifestyle change. Well worth it. Good luck to you and have a safe and speedy recovery

I am 2 months out and my weight loss has stalled out. I haven't lost anything in 2 days. I don't know what's going on. I haven't changed anything. Is or has anyone else experienced this? If so what did you do to kick it back into gear?
-
Thank you all! Yeah, I'm losing inches for sure. I was a size 18 and now I'm a 14. I bought the size 14 last week and they're already getting loose. I do need to stop weighing myself every morning. Maybe I will give the scale to one of my kids to hide lol

I get asked "why are you being so bit**y?" I honestly can't answer that. I guess my body is angry because I'm not poisoning it anymore. It's part of detoxification I assume. It's extremely annoying and not my typical personality.

Thank you all for the support. I have lost 42 pounds so far and I can really tell the difference in my clothing. None of it fits anymore. So to celebrate. I'm going to buy new jeans from the women's section not the plus size for the first time in 17 years!

Thank you both for the support. Now if I can only kick the insomnia. :-/

I waited almost 2 weeks before I heard back from my insurance. Every time my phone rang I jumped. After the phone call saying I was approved it was one week later I was in the operating room. Good Luck to you!

I had the pleasure of having this team on my side when I decided to take back control of my life. They were all very attentive and thorough. Doctor Salzberg was an outstanding surgeon. I highly recommend this team when it comes to getting your weight back on track. Has anyone else had him for a surgeon? -
BEWARE OF DIET DRINKS!!! I have a few friends, as well as family members who drink diet sodas because they claim it's "not as bad as the full calorie brand." WRONG! If you're going to drink a soda, drink a soda. Diet drinks contain a chemical called aspartame. Aspartame is a manufactured chemical used to "sweeten" diet foods. Just because it states it's "DIET" does not mean is good for you. IN FACT...aspartame causes formaldehyde build up in the brain as well as frontal lobe inflammation. This leads to migraines and neurological problems. Aspartame causes aberrations in your vision and loss of bone density due to the phosphoric acid as well. Sadly, drinking these "diet drinks" you end up GAINING weight. The aspartame manufactures are no better than the cigarette industries. It's designed to get you addicted at any cost. DRINK WATER...it's natural...and free! (Mostly) haha

It's a lifestyle change. You will have to view food in a different aspect. I still socialize only I typically will not eat. I will sip on water with a twist of lemon. If you do eat, just educate yourself on food and make a healthy choice. Personally, I have never ate to much. I've received an extreme full feeling, but I've heard it can be extremely painful and damaging. Watch the documentary called "Hungry for Change" it is on Netflix. Good Luck on your journey.

Everyone is different. Each body requires different vitamins. I take 2 Flintstones Complete Vitamins twice a day, B12 once a day and calcium once a day. However, if your iron drops, they will add iron to the regiment. Or if any other "issues" occur, they will have to add to maintain health.

I went through something similar with my fiancé and oldest daughter (she's 22). Neither of them agreed with it and they both said the same thing "you're taking the easy way out." I proceeded and never gave them a thought. Its my health I was saving. It's the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. In the first month, I have lost 35 pounds. I'm off all medications and for the most part, I feel great! Remember, It's YOUR body and YOUR decision. YOU have to live with yourself. There is NOTHING easy about this. It's a change that takes place from the inside out. You're mind has to be reprogramed on how you view food. You've lived your life this long eating the way you have. This is a tool that helps you reset per say, that thought process on food.

Vitamins after surgery
Jenn1376 replied to Skinnyninny's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have tried many...I couldn't stomach them. They made me gag. I take a Flintstones Complete Chewable twice a day, along with my Celebrate B12 and Calcium. -
The Weird Noises My Stomach Makes When I Eat Or Drink
Jenn1376 replied to calicakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 1 month and 4 days out and my stomach has recently started doing this. It's not painful and it's always after I eat. I do believe its due to digestion. But it is a tad embarrassing when your stomach sounds like you ate Chewbacca. -
Congratulations. I had mine in Newport News VA on Feb 18

mar 3 surgery pushed back to Mar 18!
Jenn1376 replied to highdesertblue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I know nerves are natural, but I really didn't think to much on it on the day of my procedure. I was in pain after, but not excruciating pain like I expected to be in. The most annoying part was having the catheter and drain tube. The key is to WALK, the more you WALK the better you feel. Good Luck on your new journey! -
I drink Premier Protein chocolate ready made drinks. I tried a LOT and this one was my favorite. Ask your nutritionist if they have a sample. I've also read where some insurance company's will pay for certain brands of Protein Drinks as well and premier happens to be one of them.
